Keeps Water Going The Right Way!

Without a check valve, drain water can sometimes run backward in the line or hose (from where it came) and in so doing, create overflows and floods of dirty, bacterial-laden water into the floor. Condensate and sump pumps are often simple devices with sumps or holding tanks that are gravity-fed and are not sealed...basically a pool of water in an container with open entry points for inbound drains lines. Back flows are essentially refilling the container that was just pumped out. 'Inefficient and can cause the container to overflow on to the floor. Since water leaks and seepage NEVER get better and over time, before you know it there can be lots of damage. Leaks are typically silent and unless you inspect drain lines routinely, they can sneak up on you...then it's an oh sh-t moment. We installed this check valve on to the Little Giant Condensate Pump and back flows and overflows are a thing of the past. Don't be cheap and try to do without this simple valve. Peace of mind and your floor are worth way more than the small cost of this valve. Over time, this valve will require gentle cleaning but having a spare on-hand is simpler and more reliable than trying to clean it as it is small and has NO removable parts. A little vinegar added to the sump/container will help to keep the sump container and the valve clean and trouble free. Put yourself a monthly or quarterly reminder on your calendar to save yourself some headaches by adding some vinegar on a routine schedule. That's better than discovering a water problem as you head out the door on vacation!

For slow water flow and constant running from Little Giant pump

This valve dramatically increased the pumping ability of the unit. There is a rubber ball inside the valve for one way flow. It apparently swells up after many years of use and sticks inside the check valve assembly. That allows both water to drain back into the tank and hinders the flow of water being pumped out. Now the pump starts less often and for much shorter periods. Perfect, cheap repair!

Ease of installation

Looking up part in manufacturers parts manual online always has me a bit nervous as to am I 100 percent sure this is correct part for this model. And this time it was excellent!!! Went in Easy worked from the get-go. And that right there makes for a good day!!

Exactly what I needed, quick and inexpensive

Furnace condensate pump started operating inefficiently and then water started pooling on the floor. I tested pump and found that this was the replacement part needed. Not available locally, so I ordered this one on Amazon. The best part was I ordered it Friday morning and had the part Sunday. My temporary bucket was only needed for 2 days, and the part was exactly what I needed! Good price, and part was exactly as described with original packaging.

A handy cheap fix rather than buying a complete pump

The media could not be loaded. A straight easy fix. Took about 15 minutes total including removing the broken piece from pump. My wife discovered a big water puddle in the furnace room and it took me three days to find the source of the leak. See the video

Works fine until it clogs up.

The check valve itself works fine. Be careful to avoid over-torquing it or stressing it when you install it since it's made of a fairly soft plastic. Mine is installed on a Little Giant VCMA-20ULST pump for furnace flue gas condensate. Unfortunately, flue gas condensate contains sulfuric acid (weak concentration) which is corrosive. The wing nuts and studs that attach the pump body to the tank cover stick out below the tank cover and are exposed to the condensate which corrodes them. After a few years rusty scale flakes off the nuts and studs and gets caught up in the check valve. Replacement cycle becomes more frequent with time, then you have to buy a new pump. Little Giant/Franklin could fix this problem by using a corrosion resistant stainless steel alloy, but they would sell fewer pumps and check valves.

DIY and save big!

Excellent value and built properly. My pretty new "Expensive" German furnace has a liquid hose (who knew burning propane makes a lot of water) that dumps into a pump reservoir which pumps the water over to my sump drain The check valve on this reservoir got melted by the installers dripping solder on it. After 2 years the check valve failed, and started spraying water everywhere. After figuring out what was happening, I found this online. So I called the furnace company to see if they had a replacement check valve. I told them if they didn't respond in 48 hours I would buy this and fix it myself. I didn't hear from them for 2 weeks. At the 48 hour mark, I ordered this and it arrived in about 1 week. I replaced the melted one and everything works perfectly. When they finally responded they said they would have to replace the whole pump. So the cost of a new pump (not in stock) and a service call, I figure I saved about $200 Canadian.
