Had for over a year. Compact but i don't think the mount is very sturdy and would be easy to lose the mounting strap. Also some rust showing between the joints

stopped working

After reading all the reviews about the poor mount design, I didn't use that and put this lock in a mandlebars mounted pouch, which works great for me. I've used this lock for 6-9 months now and it has worked great and I've felt good about hte level of security it provides. In the last few weeks I've noticed it's become very difficult to open and close the lock with the key, it just won't turn. I've asked Kryptonite to help via their Warranty page and am waiting to hear back, because right now, it's virtually unusable.

Light, Sturdy, Compact, and Versatile

The lock is lightweight. It feels sturdy. It folds up into a compact rectangle to fit in a pocket or back. I always use the bike mount, and it rides well there. The size and the hinges make it versatile and easy to lock up onto a rack with a wheel and my helmet. A great commuter lock.

Great lock, terrible holder and strap.

As everyone elsesays, the lock is fantastic. The attachable lock holder is terrible. The plastic screws to tighten it get destroyed. Even with the plastic strap it rattles like crazy. I have it strapped to the vertical bar of my scooter. And the strap, that secures it is very easy to lose. I made it 8 days. ????

Great customer service

Great bike lock and very sturdy. Fold up design allows for easy storage on the bike. However when we lost one of the rubber straps that hold this together I called the company and asked how much to get a new one, they sent me two for free. Absolutely blown away by this. Don’t see customer service like that often these days.

The good=the lock & theft protection plan, the bad=mounting hardware

As most have already stated the lock is well built & my deciding factor to pull the trigger on it was the theft protection pay out of my bike is stolen. The downside is the mounting hardware. I knew this going in but upon receipt, the reviews didn't lie! I won't be securing it on the frame of the bike, it'll be stored in my trunk bag. For the money didn't one should expect a decent mounting kit..... Not so. If you like the lock, get it but don't be surprised about the cheapness of the mount. C'mon kryptonite, you can execute this better.

Great lock, mounting hardware sucks

The lock itself is great: High quality build, the chain is long enough to wrap around bike frame, front wheel and whatever post you want to lock your bike to, there's a protection cover that slides in front of the keyway, protecting it from dirt and rain. Plastic around the links protects your bike frame. Strong but not too heavy. The mounting hardware however is a joke. The rubber band holding the lock in place comes off too easily, making it easy to loose. The hose clamp like frame mounting straps simply don't work. They jam up half way though the installation, and then are super annoying to remove. I used zip ties instead. Not that it mattered: The lower half of the mounting bracket simply broke off from the weight of the lock after a first ride on a bumpy road. That's not what you'd expect from a Kryptonite lock.

Built like a tank

I thought it’d be some bendy cheap lock but brought it because insurance companies support it but I was wrong. It’s built like a tank. It’s so beefy I’d be surprised if anyone could get through it quietly

Use both on motorcycle and bicycle. Love the lock. Great bike caddy and and slots into biker jacket top pocket easily.

Great lock!

Had my bike locked outside a London tube station. Came back in the evening after work and saw someone had attempted to steal my bike. They had failed hehe, I saw many attempts to cut the lock in multiple areas but they had failed to even get to the metal. Suck on that!

Befestigung der Halterung kompliziert und unsicher

Ich verwende an einem Fahrrad das Faltschloss von Abus und war damit vom Handling bisher zufrieden. Aufgrund des aktuellen Tests der Stiftung Warentest habe ich ein Kryptolog 685 gekauft. Von der Handhabung sehe ich keinen nennenswerten Unterschied zu Abus; es wirkt nur etwas filigraner. Die Tasche allerdings ist deutlich schlechter. Im Gegensatz zum Abus (weiches aber dickes elastisches Gummi, befestigt mit zwei Klettbändern) besteht diese aus Hartplastik und als Schutz des Fahrradrahmens ist nur ein dünner Gummistreifen beigelegt. Die Montage mittels der beiden beigefügten sehr unflexiblen Kabelbinder ist selbst unter großem Kraftaufwand und auch mittels einer Zange nicht fest genug am Rahmen sitzend möglich. Sie wackelt und verdreht sich während der Fahrt. Da bei meinem Rad der Rahmen leicht gebogen ist, schmiegt sich die starre Tasche nicht so gut an wie die Gummitasche von Abus. Ich habe nun die Tasche am Gepäckträger (2 Löcher gebohrt) festgeschraubt.
