Very Good Quality Chain
This chain is awesome. It's a little bit longer than it seems if you were looking at the picture. It has some heft to it, but I don't think it weighs more than 10 lbs. It slipped from where I had it on the center of my handlebars while I was riding my bike, but I caught it before it fell and let it hang from the end of my right handlebar, and I was fine. It's definitely not too large to ride with, at least not with a mountain bike. I love the fact that the width of a chain link is almost as wide as the diameter of the frame of my bike. I didn't really get a sense for how massive this was until I saw the chains or wires that other bikes were using. About 3 bikes have been stolen from my campus (according to an online police report log) so I'm glad I have this. Oh - when I first got the lock I had a little problem getting it to reliably open. I figured it out. You turn the key, then push the padlock body up into the metal ring, then down again. It works every time now. I didn't knock a star off for that since I never had a problem using it, just had a problem figuring out how to use it.

it seems like a solid
To the people saying it's not heavy, please. This thing is a beast of a chain. I didn't expect it to be so massive and heavy. It makes it a pain to carry around. I usually will carry a 2nd backpack just for the chain and lock. The picture can be deceiving. Be sure to check the measurement. The chain is long enough for me to secure the wheel and the frame. The lock is also huge and finnicky. Sometimes when I twist the key to open, the lock won't pop out right away. The metal casing is also a little loose and needs the screws tightened. Overall, it seems like a solid, super heavy duty chain and lock. It is definitely way too overkill for my $50 bike that I bought off Craigslist. If you want something to protect your bike, this is it. Just be prepared for how massive and heavy it is.

Looks Intimidating.
It's pretty massive looking in person. You can carry it across your body with one shoulder or wear it around your waist. It looks intimidating enough that I hope it will keep my bike safe. Looks and feels super sturdy. Easy to lock and open. 4 stars only because I felt it would be a pain to carry around. Other then that, I do like the lock. They have a website you can register your key code and purchase insurance up to 3 years (read disclaimers etc. regarding what they cover). You can only register one bike per lock.

Too heavy to use as a bike lock
I ordered a Used/almost new lock from the Amazon Wearhouse. I believe that the lock that came with the chain was the wrong one because it was too big to fit through the chain link that it needed to go through to lock. I sent it back. Other than that, if it worked, then I think it would be a good lock. I think it was way to heavy to use as a bike lock though but it was well made.

Heavier than it looks - rock solid performer.
The chain and lock are heavier than they look. I was concerned about where I was going to put the chain while riding my bike. The first attempt I wrapped it around the seat post twice. It kept falling into the moving tire. I then tried to wrap it a third time. It was a challenge but I got it down to a science now. I feel better knowing that I can leave my bike out in the open when locked with Onguard Beast.

Looks Solid
I live in Berkeley and bike thefts are a way of life. The product seems solid and stronger then any U-lock on the market. Can't go wrong if you live in a high theft area. My bike is worth every penny spent on this chain lock. It is really not that heavy (as many reviews claim); I think we have a bunch of weaklings chiming in:) Jump on it for this price!

Rest easy with this securing your bike
Hey, this thing weighs almost as much as my Fuji hybrid bike, but I keep my bike outside, locked to a 4x6 support post on a covered patio, and this monster is intimidating simply to look at, let alone to try to cut through. If I'm a bicycle thief looking for a quick score, I'm probably going look elsewhere.

But the lock is total crap..
The Chain is heavy duty, it would take a lot to bust open. But the lock is total crap . . . you could break it open with one smack of a hammer. also the plastic housing is so weak when you tighten the housing screw the lock comes together stopping the U-bolt going in to the lock. CHAIN GOOD _ LOCK BAD
