Best value for money.
Bought this unit and have never looked back. Like the fact that it vibrates rather than beeps. I've read some reviews that complained that the probe had to practically touch the object before it would sound off. I have not found that to be the case. Yes, it could be better. I'd like to see a pushbutton on/off switch, a screw on battery compartment cap, and maybe a molded ring on the butt end for a tether clip, but those features would make the unit far more expensive. Spend all the money you want, but for less than $50, you won't find a better pinpointer. One more thing, the Fisher and Teknetics line of detectors are built in the same factory by the same folks that make the Bounty Hunter line. The company is called First Texas Products. Their machines come with a 5 year warranty, which I believe is the longest warranty in the industry. You might bear that in mind the next time some snob tells you Bounty Hunter products are trash.

This thing is amazing!
What a time saver, not digging through shovels full of soil. I dug a 2 foot hole to find half a horseshoe that was stuck in the side wall of the hole the whole time. AND this thing is. Great for finding studs in the wall and letting you know where the nails are.

Kids loved it !
Instead of some plastic junky toy that gets abandoned in a week, I decided to get a metal detector and pin pointer for my grand daughters 9th birthday. She was excited to get them and we tried them out right away. My 9 year old manned the detector and her 6 year old sister used the pointer. Both had fun finding junk around my rural property. The metal detector finds the general area of something metal and the pin pointer zeros in on where to dig. I was under the impression it beeped or made some audible sound but it does not. It vibrates in your hand when it gets close. It does what it supposed to do. I'm sure there are pricier models, but for beginners or in my case kids, it works fine.

Adequate for the price
Getting back into metal detecting I wanted one of these pointers. After watching numerous YouTube videos I knew about what to expect from this particular style pinpointer. And the one I got has pretty much the limited range as was depicted in the videos. The probe almost needs to be touching a piece of metal to detect it. Larger metal chunks are easier than tiny ones. And depending on the soil, certain soils can make it more difficult for the probe to detect metal. So why get something that isn't the most powerful tool available? In my case it was because this one was 1/5 the price of the top shelf unit. Maybe later I will save up and get a more expensive pinpointer, but for now this one suits my needs and my limited budget. I was expecting because of the low price to maybe be getting a knock-off brand device, but the Pinpointer I received came with an instruction sheet with the First Texas Products branding on it, so I have to assume it is a genuine product. I have one of their Fisher brand detectors and I'm very happy with it.

Worse than useless product!!!
First, I've been a detectorist for over three decades so this is not an unwaranted rant. I've never needed a pin pointer before because of the detectors I used, but I am currently using a cheap backup detector because my Dad has my primary (Oh how I miss the depth indicator, all metal/Disc trigger and real tone discrimination (I can tell from the tone if it is a penny, clad dime, pull tab (usually)) any way ... The device features an on/off/ Sensitivity knob, which is seriously sensitive to adjustment, a delicate touch is required. The Unit seems reasonably well put together, and fairly water resistent. I have spent about 12 hrs hunting using this device, I usually see the object before the "pin pointer" sees it. For most of my "career" as a detectorist I used White's metal detectors like the 5800 which allowed me to tune the coil to the ground and truly ground balance my machine and fine tune discrimination and sensitivity to the point I could hunt salt water beaches and iron rich soil and still find coins and even relics without much loss of depth - so my issues with this pin pointing device are not due to lack of experience in the tuning department. Cons: 1. No notching for sensitivity setting - you can easily turn the knob accidentally so remembering where you set it is problematic. 2. No hardware for attaching a lanyard or something to clip to your person - could make something to work but really? 3. Effective distance for locating metallic object is pretty much touching th object - despite spending a couple of hours fiddling with the afore mentioned super sensitive adjustment knob I could not get the device to detect anything until practically touching the object. Pros: 1. Rugged feeling 2. Can't think of anything else I will be contacting the seller to see about returning this "tool". I've never purchased a Bounty Hunter detector - if this is any indication of their products I would steer clear. Whites, Fisher, Garrett - can't go wrong - pay more but get a lot more! Happy Hunting, I hope this helps and for new detectorists - PLEASE follow the Treasure Hunters' Code of Ethics: 1. Carry trash out with you 2. COVER YOUR neatly dug plugs (NOT HOLES!!!) 3. Always ask for permission to hunt private property, If you are unsure ASK someone! (Huge fines, arrests and confiscation of your machine, vehicle, etc. are possible) 4. Be friendly and answer the kids' questions - might turn into a lead and might bring new blood into this wonderful pastime!

Plastiche molto leggere e scarsa qualità
Appena ho tentato di estrarre il tappo sul fondo di questo apparecchio per l'inserimento della pila 9 v, si è rotto un pezzettino del gancio che dovrebbe sganciare e agganciare il tutto. Ho rimediato con nastro adesivo in pv/ nero, quello da elettricista, ma non ci sono ovviamente rimasto molto bene. L'apparecchio funziona ma i materiali, le plastiche, sono scarse e il manuale di istruzioni solo in inglese e sicuramente insufficiente. Non assegno una stella per la competitività del prezzo, unica nota accettabile. Di certo, non lo consiglio a chi ha un'attrezzatura di meta detecting medio alta. Assolutamente da principiante.

Not worth it.
It does work but very tedious to keep having to check adjustment to ensure will sense the item before actually touching it. If you happen to move the knob when searching through the dirt it can actually touch the metal and will not detect it. Think they should update this to just an on-off switch like the others brands have. I do like the narrow probe but unfortunately that is the only redeeming quality it has.

Erfüllt ausreichend seinen Zweck.
Leider kann man solche Geräte nicht im Vorfeld testen, ansonsten hätte ich ein deutlich hochwertigeres Gerät gekauft. Insgesamt funktioniert das Pin Pointer einwandfrei. Jedoch auch bei sehr empfindlicher Einstellung muss der Pointer den Gegenstand nahezu berühren, was beim Suchen zwar hilft aber auch keine große Unterstützung darstellt. Letztendlich dauert es immer noch zu lange. Ein anderer hochwertigerer Pin Pointer gab schon einige Zentimeter vor dem gesuchten Objekt ein Signal und führte via Laut zum gesuchten Teil. Dies hatte ich mir hier auch erhofft. Des Weiteren musste ich die Batteriekappe mit Klebeband festigen, da diese schon bei "normalem" Gebrauch häufig aufgeht. Mit anderen Worten, hier spart man am falschen Ende. Der Pointer ist für den Einstieg in das Hobby "Schatzsuche-Sondeln" ausreichend geeignet, aber ich halte ihn jetzt nur noch als Ersatz.

In genere va bene
Nel complesso va bene. Si fa il lavoro abbastanza bene. Sensibilità da regolare spesso, perché il pulsante puo essere accidentalmente spostato frequentemente. Il coperchio della batteria per essere catturati con del nastro adesivo, perché dopo un po 'tende a muoversi fuori del suo posto. Il plastico di cui è costruito è solido, duro. Ho comprato con uno sconto sotto 40 euro, credo che questo prezzo è ragionevole, di più sarebbe troppo. Distanza di rilevamento per monete è di circa due centimetri.

Highly recommended!
This pin-pointer is awesome. Every treasure hunter should own one. It works great and can save you time from digging. I use it with my metal detector. After I get a good reading the pin pointer narrows my search down.
