Serviceable in a pinch, not acceptable for regular use.
While on a family work-cation, I ended up one set of straps short when a kayak manufacturer I'm associated with gave me an unexpected bonus boat for my demo fleet. Having (literally) boxes full of straps at home, I ordered the cheapest straps that I could find under Amazon Prime. I see why. These poly pro straps are loosely woven and stretch terribly as you drive or when they get wet. Check them often! The buckle is also disappointing and, like other reviewers mentioned, the opening is so small that it's quite a trial to get the strap through each time. As delivered, the ends of the straps were very poorly sealed and frayed into a mess the first time they were passed through the buckles. After heating them with a lighter and then squishing the leading edges as thin as possible while they cooled, they're slightly easier to fit through the buckles, but still not acceptable for daily use. Once I get home to my piles of NRS and Thule straps, these will be tossed in a corner and never used again . . . but, for $7 and free two day shipping, they got here in time to do their one-time service!

The SportRack clip requires two to four tries to thread the strap through the locking clip (too thick to easily squeeze through
To get the right perspective I'd rate Thule OEM straps at 5 Stars. Note that the Thule straps cost more than twice as much as these! That said, I'll rate these at 3 stars. The locking clip design on these appear to be the same but it's not the same quality. The SportRack clip requires two to four tries to thread the strap through the locking clip (too thick to easily squeeze through the roller space). My 9' Thule straps only require one try to thread it. Not to worry, once the strap is threaded through the clip it works just like the Thule strap. It secures my kayaks perfectly.

These are really really nice straps. A little difficult to thread at first
These are really really nice straps. A little difficult to thread at first. But scissors and a flame took care of that problem. I use them to tie down my Kayaks. They are perfect for the job and the color is a nice match for my Kayaks. I should note. That I am alarmed when I read about people using straps such as these while on the highway. Yes these straps will hold your boat. But for God's sake. Please double up on your straps at highway sppeds. The last thing you need is for your boat to fly off and cause another vehicle to have a major accident. You will be sued into bankruptcy and may even face criminal charges for your negligence Okay I feel better. Thanks.

hands down best straps I've ever used
Strap material seem to be of decent quality & they keep things in place. Buckles are difficult to use, must be fully opened to get the strap in & it can be tricky with one hand. One of the vinyl guards ripped off after it's second use, but can't complain too much for $6.95. Next time I'll get another set of Yakima straps with the rubber guards, hands down best straps I've ever used.

Function, but fairly terrible quality
These straps work, but barely. The part that is supposed to protect your car from the buckle is seriously fragile. Two of them broke the first time I used them. The second time I used them, the ends of the straps started to fray apart. They will hold your kayak on your car, but I'm guess most other options would be much much better. I've used the classic blue thule straps with the rubber part that slips over the buckle and I don't have a single complaint about those. Guess it's what you get when you try to save a few bucks.

Good, but could be better
These things are awesome. The work perfectly and for the most part the materials all seem top quality. However, I did have one of the buckle protectors tear off after only using it two or three times. Other than this one defect I am happy with this product.

Strong and solid
They are very thick and strong. The only problem is that it's hard to get them through the opening of the buckle who is too small.

These are just a basic tie down. I bought them for the protection under the buckle. They are exactly as advertised.

Good product but don't pay too much. This is available at Walmart.com for peanuts...

Metal latch doesn't open far enough to insert strap through
Perhaps I received a faulty set but like a few other people have noted, the metal latch would not open enough to be able to slide the strap through. I tried and tried and gave up trying to insert the strap after about 15 frustrating minutes. That's a BIG problem for straps of this kind, obviously. I returned these and ordered the Rhino straps which are far far superior and worth the extra money. I will gladly pay for better straps, considering the value of of the gear they are safely strapping to the car roof racks
