Life changing!

These are life saving! My sweet cat kept scratching up us, the carpet, and fabric. He wasn’t malicious about it, but we still couldn’t break the habit. These have totally solved the problem and it was such an easy fix. I wish we tried them weeks ago! They were surprisingly easy to apply and have stayed on. I got the clear, but in the future I will get a color one so they’re easier to see when applying. Thank you for this great product!

They work even better than we'd hoped, and stay on!

We are very pleasantly surprised at how well these are working! We have a big kitty who can get really aggressive while he's playing and doesn't seem to realize how much damage his giant claws do to our human skin. My 7 year old was getting too many big, deep scratches from him. We decided to try these, because we really don't want to get him declawed. I had pretty low expectations for how well putting them on would go, because our cat hates being "messed" with. No brushing, nail clipping, or fussing of any kind is tolerated. It took 3 of us to get it done, but it went better than I'd hoped. We wrapped him in a towel with one paw out, and my husband held him while I slid the soft claws on that we'd pre-filled with glue. When we got to the second paw he started squirming harder so my son fed him treats while I got the last 5 on! Then we watched him to keep him from licking them until they'd dried - distracting him with a cat laser toy was a huge help. That night after they'd dried he licked them quite a bit and I was sure he'd start chewing them off after we went to bed, but to my surprise the next morning they were all still on. That first whole day he licked them off and on and shook his paws every once in a while, but otherwise didn't seem too bothered. We're on day three and they're all still intact and he doesn't seem to notice them much anymore! What a relief. They're hard to see in the picture because they're clear and he has very furry paws, but they're on there! Our only complaint is that the precision tips that come with the glue don't snap on, and they kept coming off the glue bottle while I was trying to fill the soft claws. It was stressful and messy and at one point I had the bottle super-glued to my fingers. We're going to follow the advice of another reviewer and buy some krazy glue with a precision tip for next time we need to apply them, and skip the glue that comes in the package altogether. If the glue that came with them were easier to use, this would be a 5 star review for sure.

Keeps cat from scratching himself

We use the large caps on my 10-pound cat’s back claws to keep him from scratching himself and causing sores. The caps work well for this purpose. They last around a week, but they all fall off at different times. Since the initial application, I’ve found that I’m basically putting on a new 1-2 caps everyday. This is a nuisance, but probably unavoidable. 4 stars because I found the instructions to be a little diffficult to follow, and I feel like the glue-to-cap ratio is off. I’m going to run out of glue before I run out of caps. But I am very glad the product exists and will continue to buy!

Saves my carpet

I have a very large cat - 18lbs that likes to scratch at carpet on our stairs. I began using these about a year ago and they work well. He immediately tries to chew them off but if I can keep him from ripping them off the first hour or so after application they stay on for a couple weeks. He doesn't like the actual application of them, I think the smell of the glue is what he doesn't like, but they are not uncomfortable for him. They work to protect our carpet. My only problem is that they are too small for his large side nail on his front paws. I have to cut a slit in the soft claw to get it to fit and then it doesn't adhere as well. Since this is the last resort before declawing, I am happy to continue using this product on my fur baby!

Best invention ever

As long as your furbaby doesnt mind you handling their paws, which most don't, this product is a furniture and carpet saver! I can apply these to one of my cats all by myself! Just pour alittle catnip or a treat in front of him and he'll let me get all his front claws clipped and capped within minutes. My other cat, my hubby holds him over the shoulder and I'm able to clip and cap. Alittle struggle cause he's skiddish, but as long as he's held he does well. The plastic caps need to be squeezed to open the top to fill with glue and they're ready to slide onto the claw. Just a few drops do the trick and they last quite awhile before replacing.

Doesn’t stop my cat from destroying my rug

I bought these for my cat because he loves to use my wool rug as a scratching post. I don’t know what it is about these soft paws but he’s still able to grab plenty of loops. Just waiting for them to fall off so I can just keep trimming his claws as short as possible.

Not quite holistic enough for us. Long term use not great.

Okay, I like these, used to love them. I think the idea is great - I have a 10 year old tabby who loves to scratch the rugs in my home and I've never been able to get him to use a scratching board, post, my leg, whatever. Nothing worked until I found these. After a few tries of getting him comfortable enough to let me handle his paws for minutes on end he seemed fine with the whole process and they didn't seem to bother him while they were on. Recently though, I don't know if maybe I used too much glue or what, but the in the last set a few stayed on WAY longer than the rest and started preventing his nail from naturally shedding. They also started to press into his toes because the nail was growing and these were just extending them. He wouldn't let me get to his toes and I think they were making him uncomfortable. I ended up trimming them off and haven't put any back on. I don't know if I'll use them in the future out of fear they're hurting him indirectly. They could be used as a great temporary fix, or maybe even a sort of training tool for younger cats.

Problems with the glue stick and/or applicator tips

Have you made a change in the manufacturing process of the glue sticks and/or applicator tips? I have been using Soft Claws for years. Lately I’ve been having problems with the glue arriving somewhat dried up, and the applicator tips don’t click onto the glue stick like they used to. It’s nearly impossible to squeeze glue into the cap when the glue and applicator don’t stay together. I end up with a mess and no nail caps on my cats. I gave high marks for the product because it works well, however this issue with the glue has me frustrated
