Two cat's...two very different results
I have two very energetic kittens with very fast growing sharp claws. This product is great in theory, however has very different results between my two kittens. When I first opened it one of my kittens immediately jumped in to it and rather enjoyed it and trimming her nails was no problem. It functioned very well. However my second kitten was a totally different story. She threw a total fit! After several bloody scratches and bites I finally forced her in it. She was having a total melt down. I was unable to trim her nails because she ended up tearing her way out. Overall I think this is a well made product. I think it functions well with the right cat.

Works great, unless it rips.
I bought a Medium bag three years ago for our 2nd cat. Our first cat has a frontal declaw, and we couldn't put another cat through that painful process. Cat #2 has been getting regular nail trims since kittenhood, so he's fairly used to the process. It goes a lot easier with two people to get him in the bag. After that, grooming is easy. I love all the zippers, but I did learn to not unzip the main zipper while he's in there, it's like he feels how close his freedom is and quickly escapes. One comment on that: The velcro around the neck does lose it's strength once cat hair starts to stick to the velcro, which makes it easy for the cat to give one strong push and break out of his velcro collar. I resorted to cleaning the velcro really well of hair, and then not adjusting every again. Take the cat out the back, leaving just enough room to get his head out of the collar. The other "con" if you will is the lack of a face shield. I learned how important this is after deciding to trim cat #1's rear claws for the first time ever. He enjoys watching us torture cat #2 on nail trim day, but he sure didn't like being on the receiving end. I was bitten several times. I finally put a sock on his head to stop the biting. Cat #2 grew to become much larger than cat #1, and lately it has been quite difficult to get the bag zipped without zipping in some of his fur as well. It's like stuffing a pig into a scuba suit. He's a porker. Not easy. I finally remembered to order a bigger bag, and Large is the biggest. I did this after his last trim in November. (I never said I was consistent with nail trims, only when his nails start sticking into our clothing or we're bleeding from holding him...) So today, I used the Large bag for the first time. The nail trim went well, it was nice being able to reach his feet without prying them out of his pig suit. I decided with the extra space I should give him a bath, since he's not the best at grooming himself. His fur is clumpy, and honestly he stinks a little. So in the bathroom we go, and I lay him on the floor in front of the tub. Once I turned on the water, he freaked out. Like worse then I've ever seen him. Must be a flash back from a bath I gave him long ago. I pick him up, and his back leg is sticking out of the bag. He popped a seam. Ugh! I mean, he is a strong cat. He's gotta be to carry all that chunk around... (I was thinking of weighing him for this review, but I can't find him now until he decides to stand over me with glowing red eyes in my sleep.) And the extra room for his legs probably gave him just enough space to push out with all his might. Bathing went... well horribly. I managed with the rogue leg flailing about, but it was hard to lather him up under the parts of the bag that aren't mesh. Which is a lot. So I had to unzip here and there to get my hand inside with soap, trying to avoid the claw stubs from Rogue Leg One. This bag will have to be discarded, this material doesn't mend well even for a person that sews Of course it is too late to return it, even though I never used it until today. I mean overall, I was pretty pleased with three year old Medium bag, it did work well for nail trims until Porker got too porky for his pig suit. It's a great price for what you're getting. But I cannot overlook that this bag is not the best for a strong, pissed off cat. And I wish the sizes went bigger than just Large. Even with this size, it was hard to squeeze a resistant cat into this bag. I might try a cloth or mesh bag of a different variety, or sew one myself. But the idea of adding all those zippers to a sewing project will be about as much fun as bathing a cat.

Works for me!
I have a 10lb cat. The medium was a little small around the neck but I liked the product so I returned the medium and got the large. Used today for the first to administer medication and it went really well.

A useful tool with hyper kittehs
We've got two 8 month old Maine Coon kittens, which are both around 14lbs! When they were smaller it was somewhat easy to grab them and trim their nails or place the claw caps. However, this breed grows up fast. They are the size of typical adult cats now with the mentality and attention span of a kitten. We tried to use their harness to keep them still for five minutes, but it just wouldnt work and there were scratches all around. Thankfully we found this unique bag. On the day we received the bag we set it out and let the play with it. Since we weren't forcing them into it they were happy to lay on it, which we used to our advantage and zipped them into it. We unzipped the legs so they could walk around and get used to it. Having worn a harness before they really didn't seem to mind. We didn't attempt to do any nail trimming on that first day. They are large cats, but there is quite a bit of room left for them to grow. Also, there are many different zippers so you can get to the back feet easily too. The most difficult part for some might be figuring out the best way to get your cat into the bag, which really depends on their personality. I had all the zippers closed except the top (so it looks like a duffel bag) and set them into the bag, then I attached the neck velcro, followed by zipping up top. You can also try putting them in through the end, but I don't think that's the best method. About a week later I had no problems getting the kitties into the bag. I was able to trim and file kitty #1's nails with little protest from him. Occassionally he'd try to roll over in the bag or squirm, but he can't go very far. I would just pull him back over and keep going. Kitty #2 is a little more crazy about being held, but again he really can't go anywhere, other than rolling himself over. Overall I'd say the bag works and is a success. Thankfully neither cat is a biter, so we don't need to use the muzzle. My main suggestion for getting any cat used to carriers, harnesses or this bag is not to rush it upon introducing the item to them. We've trained our cats to love their carriers because we left them out for weeks. They would sleep in them and play in them. We've done the same thing with other items. They get used to seeing it and then it's not so threatening. Whenever we pull out their carriers now they actually get excited. So, take it slow and be patient.

It’s too small to work with
I love the idea, the quality, it’s just too small to be comfortable for getting the cat in the bag. All it did was upset him. My husband and I did as a team and he is too long to fit him in without force.

The nightmare is over!! I am so glad I bought this bag.
This has been the best way, ever, of being able to treat my cat for feline acne. Because he is so safe and secure in it, he doesn't struggle at all. Before, he would struggle and fight his way out of the towel wrapped around him. The less secure the wrapping, the more he would struggle and get upset. This way, he is so much calmer, and so am I.

This product has been a god send in helping us ...
This product has been a god send in helping us administer subcurtaneous fluids to our cat as prescribed by the vet, it keeps him calm so we can administer his medications.

If you can get the cat in the bag.....
Mr Kitty was not as cooperative as one would hope, but if you can get him in the bag, there is a chance of succeeding your mission to get that nasty mat on his hind leg, clip his claws or clean the tartar off his teeth. This will only work once or twice. Not the bag's fault that Mr. Kitty remembers what you did to him. Which is the reason he peed on your carpet... to remind you who owns whom. Best to include some treats in your cart before you check-out.

AWESOME bag.
I simply love it. Being a Rescue, I am using this for cats so I can cut their claws. I can now manage to cut claws for the most difficult cats I have here. I plan on using it to bathe the ones that are very dirty when they arrive here. I highly recommend this product. I bought the medium size one. It fits cats up to 16lbs. It is a bit big for cats under 6 -7 months of age
