Most people put on too much fertilizer.
I used to work for Scotts/Trugreen and I can tell you that applying liquid or granular fertilizer is an art that takes some practice to not stripe a lawn. Too many homeowners think that it's a one and done treatment. A couple of tips; 1: For inexperienced homeowners, stick to a 10-0-10 EXTENDED RELEASE type of fertilizer. You only need the Phosphorus part on a new or reseeded lawn. 2: Apply at the recommended rate or less for your spreader. Practice on your driveway to see how far your spreader throws it at a normal pace. Try not to overlap too much if at all. 3: Plan on spreading a normal or weak mix every 4-6 weeks from early spring to late fall in the snow belt. Never walk on frozen grass. 4: Whether you use liquid or granular, it needs to be watered in. If you don't water your lawn between the rain showers, don't even bother fertilizing as your lawn will never look good. 5: Use a granular fert with premergent as your first application. This will stop most weeds and Crabgrass from emerging in the first place. Pre_emergent is a SEED GERMINATION preventer. It does not kill weeds that are already sprouted and growing. 6: Do not spread new grass seed in the spring as the pre-emergent will kill it and you will also need to water the entire seeded area weekly all summer. Wait until the fall. (Sept. Oct.) . 7: Don't bother with granular weed killer/fertilizer combos, which is different than Pre-emergent/fert combos. 8: When using liquid weed killer, only spray where the weeds are. Anything else is a waste of time and money. Weed killer is a CONTACT KILLER and needs to hit a weed that is already growing. 9: Aerate or Aerate/Overseed every fall if your budget can handle it. If you overseed, make sure you give it plenty of water between the raindrops and stop using weed control after seeding. 10: If you overseed, only spread seed on an area that you can water weekly, every week, if it doesn't rain. If you have a big lawn, you will probably not water it all every week and the new grass will die off. 11: Don't scalp your lawn. Lawns should be 3-4inches. Cutting it short during the growing season can actually make it grow faster to get back to a healthy state. A longer lawn is cooler, retains water longer, and lets less sunlight penetrate to the soil where the weed seeds are lurking. 12: Don't expect instant results. If your lawn has been neglected for years or more, it can take 2-5 years of time and money and water to get that golf course lawn. 13: Try to water in the early mornings. You want the water in the soil before it gets too hot. Watering at night will promote damaging fungus on your lawn. 14: Water is the most important, (and most neglected), part of a healthy lawn. If you can't or won't water between the raindrops, don't bother with fertilizer as it will be wasted. Use preemergent once in the spring and spot treat for weeds as needed. 15: Plan on spending $500-$1000 an acre, (or more), for a perfect lawn with fert, weed control, mowing, trimming, aerating and watering. How much depends on how much you do yourself and your local climate. 16: If you can afford it, put in a programmable underground sprinkler system. It will save you time, water and hassle.

Great
I have a small yard, about 4000 square feet. Living in Kansas City, I use the 5 step lawn program and do it myself. I’d purchased a hand spreader from a local hardware store and…it. was. terrible. So I ordered this one. What a difference. It’s compact and extremely lightweight. And because it’s so lightweight it doesn’t roll over objects like edging and landscape rocks, etc so I do have to pick it up but it’s so easy. And small so I can store it in my basement when not using it.

Super nice spreader.
Great stability for sure! I wish I could see the product coming out but the hopper is so big, I can't. I can tell on the road how it's doing and I keep an eye on both sides to make sure the product is slowly draining down. This is the best spreader I've ever used. Just don't pile 50 lbs. of product to spread. I tried it at first and realized it doesn't have to be that way. It works but it's just harder to push. This spreader is well worth it.

Better than a hand spreader
I have a very large yard and I have been using a hand spreader which I have to refill many times and becomes heavier each time I fill it. The pic is just 20 percent of my yard. So I purchased the Scott's inexpensive push spreader. I'm so happy with this spreader. Only had to fill it twice. Plus no wrist pain. Even though its their small spreader I was able to fertilize the grass in a quarter of the time with ease. Should have purchased one years ago. It's not their premium spreader, but did a great job for me, very easy to use and saved me alot of arm and wrist pain. Get one, you wont go wrong.

Seems good so far
I only have used this spreader for a part of the season last year so still not sure on the durability but I like the compact size for storage in our garage, that it has easy settings with numbers to dial in broadcasting fertilizer/seed/product, and that when you make a turn or get to the end of a pass all you have to do is release the handle to stop product. So far, so good.

Good product at reasonable price
I'm tall, so it is a little low for me. Still, I do like the spreader. I like the settings capabilty. I can set the specific recommended setting for the product (Scott's Turf Builder) I'm applying to the lawn. Most spreaders are too expensive. This unit is not. I like the guard on one side of the unit. It prevents product from being thrown onto unwanted areas: my neighbor's driveway, my driveway, and the street. Ease of assembly: You just pull up the handle, but the wheels do have to be fiddled with to get them to lock into permanent position.

No assembly required! Exactly what I was looking for!
This is exactly what I was looking for. A new Scotts spreader that required no assembly, was large enough to hold the amount of product I needed for one spreading, easy to read dial measurements and it even has an option to turn it on or off to prevent spillage. It was cheaper than buying from Home Depot or Lowe's which was a nice bonus. Worked beautifully and spreaded product as expected. I have no complaints or negatives to mention.

easy to use
The Mini Broadcast Spreader is a convenient and easy-to-use tool for spreading fertilizer and seed over your lawn. While there are some notable benefits to this product, there are also a few shortcomings to be aware of. One issue with the spreader is that it can be difficult to adjust the settings for the flow rate of the product. The dial can be stiff and hard to turn, and it can take some trial and error to get the right setting for your needs. This can result in uneven distribution of the product, which can negatively impact the overall health of your lawn.

Fundamental error in design.
For spreading grass seed and fertilisers. The spinning disc that distributes the product is mounted too low meaning the granular feed or grass seed hits the inside of the right hand wheel leaving a concentrated line of product. Utter rubbish regardless of price.

IT LOOKS THE PART ????????????
IT COULD BE BUILT A LOT BETTER , I ONLY HAD IT FOR THE EDGE GUARD WICH WORKS OK

Poor design and build
The spreading action is uneven especially with the edge guard. The wheels keep jamming and the spreader leaves „pools“ of product over the lawn. Useless. £70 wasted.

Good quality
Really pleased with this, having bought many spreaders before, this was study and easy to use and fully assembled.

A bit expensive but I it should last
Works well and the edge guard feature is good but a bit expensive
