Can't Beat For The Money

A really quite good little unit. I mounted mine on the rear rack of my Polaris Sportsman and have used it now 2 storms. It puts out a nice volume of salt and the cover keeps the salt dry as a bone so no clogging. The only thing(s) I have any issue is the flow control lever scrapes the hopper side which can make you think it's closed when it's not, put an offset bend in it and all is well. The other thing is the power lead could be just a bit heavier gauge wire. It can and does get a bit warm if you are spreading heavy salt for an extended period of time,. don't expect it to go up in flames but a gauge up or two would be better. Oh yeah, and a battery lug connection rather than the power port plug in, 4 wheelers really don't have that option. I snipped it off and put ring lugs on for best contact. (probably trashed the warranty by doing so)

Received item and inspected. Mounting holes were all off. Feed drop holes where stamped but not cut out. So be ready to do some plastic cutting if you need it right away. Assembled as directed only to snap 2 studs off with less then 5 ft/lbs. And stripped the other 2 out. Ubolts where all cut off prior to packing or a horrible mold so the locking nuts go on hard and then you can hand loosen / tighten them after they get started. DEBATED RETURNING, but since I'm really in a bind on time I can't get a replacement or better one soon enough. So off to the hardware store I went to modify and strengthen a decent design but horribly poor product. Added an electric corkscrew to the opener as the supplied one was a you know what to move and flimsy. Hardened bolts and better ubolts. And added a large washer to sturdy up the flimsy dispenser and made a thin but sturdy rotator to the hopper to keep the seed/feed/salt flowing and not having to shake it. So depending on your needs and expectations. I'd say it's ok for a once in a while use but a reliable one out of the box, Definitely NOT this one.

Cheaply made, but functional.

Everything works, but it's cheaply made so be delicate. The plastic parts break easily. The adjustment knob gets loose very easily which causes the seeds to dump in some areas and not be uniform. Otherwise, it works. It's basically a container, a motor, and a door that open and closed at the bottom of the container. Not worth the money, but it is functional.

Very functional product

I have used this spreader a couple of times and it does a great job of spreading fertilizer and pelletized lime. I have a very old atv which didn't make for an easy attachment of the spreader, I believe due to the rack design. I made up a couple of clamping brackets with bolts and a couple of heavier U-bolts and fairly easily adapted the spreader mount to my atv. A note on the use of the spreader. It is rated for 100 pounds of material. I put that amount in one time and had one of the mounting frame parts on the spreader bend a little so I wouldn't necessarily recommend using the full rated capacity. I contacted the manufacturer, and they are sending out a new part at no charge. Overall, I am happy with this product.

Missing Hardware

Came with missing hardware which is disappointing also the rotating disc came warped. It will still work but this should have been caught it Q/C. Also the photo displayed on the box shows this mounted on a Honda Rancher ATV I have the exact same ATV and the brackets barely fit between the racks as shown in the pictures. I was able to muscle it in their with a big hammer and a block but come on these tolerances should be a bit better. Assembly was very easy but again getting the brackets to spread to fit the actual spreader between was challenging and required two people to get the bolts through. Haven’t used it yet but it seems like it will work good. I am going to be using it for food plots. I would definitely suggest getting some type of rubber stopper on the backhand side of the disc to prevent salt or seed from being pelted all over your machine. I usually don’t review things but it frustrates me that I had the identical ATV and the mounting point they show barely works.

Makes salting easy

I love having this on the atv. It was an easy install. I had to bypass the plug because it didn't work. I wired it direct to the battery instead which is also a cleaner look.....

Okay Product with Modifications

Not bad for the price Not exactly universal, but with a few modifications it fit my 2000 Rancher no problem. Biggest problem is with the factory stop on the shut-off. It's not even close. Had to relocate and install a new one. Hopper design would definitely work better with an agitator on the motor shaft. I will be installing a rod through the shaft to help with that issue. Don't install the motor first as per the instructions. Mount the hopper supports first then the motor.

Very disapointing

First, the precision of the manifacturing is very poor. Bolts holes barely match up, had to force some bolts at an angle. The opening control lever was hiting the basket and couldn't properly close the valve. Had to add several washers to make spacing for clearence. The quality of the materials are at minimum requirement. A self locking nut should have been used to hold the lever in place, instead of a plastic knob that unscrew itself evrytime you open and close the valve. But than wouldn't be too bad if the thing would worked! The spreader plate spins way to fast, for salt anyway, so the application rate is too low, even at crawl speed. And you constly have to push down the product in the basket with a stick because it won't slide down by it self. So it's a pain to operate unless you make some severe home made modification.

pas vraiment conçu pour le sel

Fonctionne a merveille lorsque ce qui est mis dans le distributeur est granulaire. acheté dans notre cas pour épandre du sel dans notre entrée en hiver. Supposé etre conçu pour 45kg. il accepte ce poids mais lors que vous mettez un sac complet de 20kg, comme le matériel descend par gravité. le sel se compacte et ne tombe plus. la seul façon est d'en mettre de petite quantité (la moitié du sac) et de brassé avec la main. Sinon, les sacs de pierre anti-dérapante fonctionne très bien. oubliez le sable, impossible car peu importe la quantité que vous allez y mettre, il se compact et reste prit.

Overall did the job.

First one I received was missing the electric motor. Arguably the most important part of the unit. But Amazon returned it without a hassle and sent another one in a short amount of time. Used it to broadcast granulated lime, fertilizer and then finally seed in a 5 acre food plot I made in an old field. Overall broadcasting was great. However the tubes that hold the hopper bent when I had 80lbs of fertilizer and bounced over some rough spots in the field. Note that the max. capacity is supposed to be 100 lbs. I had to replaced the tubes holding the hopper with thicker gauge pipe to finish the field. After replacing the thin gauge tubes with heavier gauge pipe the unit worked well for the remainder of the field. The hopper gate is cheap and too light for long term use, but for a one shot deal it worked. I expect I will eventually have to make a metal hopper gate to replace the flexible plastic one.

Will work great with a few mods

Good quality, easy to put together, mounts easily to ATV, motor works fine, but I purchased this for spreading salt, but the salt won’t flow unless I shake the unit, makes it hard to drive and shake at same time. I’m going to modify the opening to make the salt flow better, then control the flow with the gate opening. I’m sure if I was spreading fert or seed it would work great
