Works
I bought a second mountain bike with a newer styled rear suspension. I ended up swapping out all the good quality parts from my old bike to my new. For the most part with the exception of the front fork they were pretty close component wise. I had a Rock shock on my old bike with heavy duty springs and the on on my new bike had regular springs. I moved the rock shock over to the new bike and because the head tube was shorter had to cut it down. When I went to install the other fork, I found it was 1/2” too short on my older frame. I researched many different ways to get this fork to work but all were too expensive. This was after all my spare bike now. I couldn’t see letting it go to waste or throwing it away. I then found this stem on the interweb. I ended up ordering it and a few other parts that did not work. They will be going back. This works like a quill style stem. I found it would not fit in an 1-1/8 aluminum steerer tube but it went right into my steel steerer tube perfectly. Everything bolted together with this alone. I though I might have to buy a star nut to fit into this to load the steering bearings but it seems to have tightened up just fine. Now my steerer tube was only 1/2” short so this went in and seated with enough of the stem to hold tightly. You’re going to have to evaluate if it will work for you. I’m happy to have my 2nd bike back on the road.

Works for what it is designed for
Picked up a 1999-2000 Specialized Hardrock Sport that used a quill for some narrow flat bars and I wanted to swap over to some drop bars to join the "build a gravel bike" trend. It works really well and have had no issues since installation. I found the product through the Youtube channels OldShovel and Spindatt because they used it for some of their conversion projects. Have been happy with it and am considering getting another one to swap my dad's bike over to newer bars as well.

Well made, stepped transition and not long-tapered
This is a nice-looking well-made adapter, if a bit heavy with the steel bolt - 164g of which 49g of it is just the bolt. The main body, wedge, and the top cap are all milled alloy. The step isn't 100% a 90-degree angle but a slight taper for strength but it shouldn't be an issue with spacers as it goes from one diameter to the next over only a millimeter or so. Just be sure you buy the correct one for your needs. The description says: *Steerer Clamp OD 25.4mm, for 1", 28.6mm for 1-1/8 *Quill Insertion Diameter: 25.4mm for 1 1/8" stems and 22.2 for 1" stems They are actually talking about TWO DIFFERENT SIZES here. You need to look below and see it says "Item Specifications - Stem Size = 1-1/8" That means that THIS stem adapter is 1-1/8 to 1-1/8 threaded to threadless - 24.5mm quill -> 28.6mm stem. The other type will say 1" to 1" threaded to threadless - 22.2mm ->24.5 stem, and that listing is elsewhere on Amazon. The listings are identical except for that little spot on the bottom where it says "Stem size = 1-1/8 -OR- Stem size =1" The two listings are separate and look nearly identical. Amazon should combine them and add a size choice to make this more clear. Amazon doesn't have a listing for a 22.2mm -> 28.6mm by Profile Design. Perhaps they don't make one. There is an Origin8 version that does this if that is what you want. Threadless stems in 24.5 are sort of rare/obsolete so if you want to go from a 1" threaded steerer and use a modern 28.6mm threadless stem you can't use either of these. Watch what you are buying here as the description is a little confusing. 4-stars for being a bit heavy. A lighter bolt would help a lot but drive up the price I suppose

Good quality, but needs sizes in description.
I returned mine because the listing said it worked with 22mm head tubes, but was to large a diameter. Could use more direct info/measurements on the item sold. But the build quality seemed nice and well packaged.

works great, nearly invisible once installed
This adapter is much more attractive than most adapters of the sort. You do not have the ease of adjusting your stem up and down independent of headset adjustments, so for novice mechanics who like to change their handlebar height frequently, other adapters may be better for you. With this adapter, you will probably want a few 1 1/8" headset spacers, otherwise your stem will be right on top of your headset. You can use upto nearly an inch of headset spacers to get a reasonable amount of rise. Installation is a bit funny, but once you've thought about how it works, you shouldn't have any trouble. A tip: after greasing the contact points between the wedge and the rest of the adapter, tighten your stem in the correct place on the adapter. The adapter should be inserted far enough into the stem to pass through the center of both bolts(for conventional stem). Then slide any headset spacers up to the stem from the bottom of the adapter. Next slide the adapter into the steerer tube of your fork where the old stem was. Then tighten it down quite tightly (a mini-tool will be difficult with so little leverage...a full length 6mm allen is desireable so you can tighten the adapter sufficiently) and you're ready to go. before riding, try to turn your handlebars while holding the wheel. If the handlebars turn independent of the wheel, tighten the main bolt on the top of the adapter more.

Change Your Bike on a Budget
Really easy to swap out your old quill stem to take advantage of modern stems and customize your ride. Fairly light and we'll finished for what it is. For the price why go cheap?

Just what I wanted
Works as you hope it will. In my case, I got the 1+1/8" inner quill diameter to 1+1/8" (to enable use of a 1+1/8" threadless stem around this quill). In the past I've also used the 1" quill to 1+1/8" threadless and again, it really opens up your stem options.

Works great
Great price for an item that opens up the possibilities for stems and bars on vintage mountain bikes

Works well
Good product. Used a velo orange one before and I like this design better, as I can drop my stem lower without the taper and not have that awkward transition from the headset to stem. Just depends on what kind of bike you have. Some reviews have an issue regarding wrong size diameter, to clarify the diameter in the item name is for the outer diameter of the steerer tube, not the interior diameter (or what dia measurement when put a caliper on the old threaded stem). The Profile Designs webpage for this product makes this pretty clear so check that before ordering Would've loved it if they include some spacers in case I want to move my stem higher, oh well

Delivered to the wrong apartment!
I don't have any issue to the product except the printing of the label.. it was a little bit faded and the letters are not sharp.. and the courier who deliver the package didn't do their job properly! They delivered it to the wrong apartment building...
