Perfect upgrade to a 26'er 1994 TREK 8000!

My 25 y.o. aluminum frame Trek 8000 MTB is from the early days of mountain biking with small 26" wheels, long 100mm stem, and ultra-narrow handle bars. This 25 deg 70mm Profile Aris OS stem brought my handle bars closer, mitigating steering "sweep", and gave me a slight rise. That, along with a super-wide 785mm Race Face riser bar, brought my 1994 MTB back to the future! Now I just need some bigger wheels...

missing a screw, but otherwise OK

Maybe production issues have been resolved, because I had no problems with the stem other than a missing cap screw. I have had other low cost stems which were not aligned well, but this one was. I consider this stem cheap enough to buy several in order to fine tune my riding position. After that, I can either buy a different stem with nicer finish, or get a custom stem to tidy things up.

Nice bike stem

This bike stem is of quality construction. It is forged and not welded as was the original Trek stem. The machining is precise and the fit is good in all areas. I believe that this stem will last the lifetime of my bike.

Profile can't get it straight

Returned my purchase from Amazon because the face plate (bar clamp) did not line up with the stem. Couldn't find the exact product (length and rise angle) from another manufacturer (Specialized makes one that's close but it uses a shim on the fork tube) so I purchased the same item from a different source (hoping the one I purchased through Amazon may have been from a bad batch). Same issue. Got the second one to work by filing out the bolt holes in the face plate. Unless you are feeling lucky or can modify the bar clamp (not a good idea for big or aggressive riders) I don't recommend buying this stem.
