Good Voltmeter
I replaced an older style voltmeter with this one. The older one still worked, but the plastic lens on the meter scale was very sensitive toward static electricity and would move at random all over the place when I waved my hand in front of it. I don’t have to worry about that since this voltmeter has a digital readout. The multitude of scales it comes with is an additional plus. The stand that’s comes with is great in that it frees your hands up.

Best Affordable Multimeter on Amazon
Winner winner, chicken dinner! Yeah I’ve been watching Dave on EEVBlog videos.... This is one of the best $35 multimeter that you will find on Amazon. Compared to other meters in this price range, it’s a no brainer. It comes with nice test lead probes, with alligator clips, along with a thermocoupler lead. The obligatory signal trace test with the comfortable leads was excellent. No delayed pause in hearing a beep with the leads are touched together. I haven’t tried with my nice BK Precision test leads, but I’m sure the meter will react even faster. I’ve tried a few other tests like NCV and temp, and they are all good. The backlight is a soft blue that completely lights up the HUGE display. No squinting needed for this meter! The dial turns good with little deflection. The rear stand is big also, and is very stable as it sets the meter up at a nice viewing angle. If you’re looking for a case for this meter, the rounding up measurements are 4”x 8”x 2.5”. Here is the main reason why I purchased this multimeter, it does DC mV, with no fumbling the dials and switches to get to it. I needed a meter to look at the negative DC mV for biasing power tubes in guitar amps. The second reason is safety. It has two ceramic fuses, 0.6mA 1000V and 10A 1000V. So, here’s the negatives about this meter. I mean you’re not going to get a Fluke 87V for this price. The accuracy ain’t the greatest. It’s a 0.8% meter. Yeah that’s why it’s $35 with so many measuring and safety features. Thankfully guitar tube amps are low tech, so I don’t have to worry about extreme accuracy. But if Etekcity could take this meter and bump up the accuracy to below 0.1%, I’d happily pay a lot more for it. I just really like this meter for not only the looks, the form function, price, and even the BK Precision style blue and white colors, but also the safety of the ceramic fuses. Good job Etekcity!

Bulky but nice
I have done very limited testing of the accuracy of measurements made using the MSR-A1000 at this point. One thing I was interested to know is the sensitivity of the instrument when making frequency measurements. Using an RF signal generator and an oscilloscope I found that the input RF signal level required to get a stable frequency reading is considerably better than stated in the specifications. For example, at 3 MHz and below, the required RF level for a stable reading was 70 mVrms or less, and at the maximum frequency the meter will measure (11.990 MHz) the required level was about 400 mVrms. The Users Manual states that maximum voltage input when making frequency measurements is 30 Vrms. A note in the manual says that higher input voltages will cause inaccuracy in the frequency measurements, but does not specify what input voltage will cause damage to the meter in frequency measuring mode. I questioned the manufacturer on this, and they answered that voltages over 30 Vrms over an extended period of time will damage the meter. This is not as clear an answer as I had hoped, but I assume that attempting to measure the frequency of the power mains directly (120 Vrms) would damage the meter after some period of time.

A good honest meter.
I've been in the business using meters for 40+ years, and have been very skeptical of the cheap "knock-offs". I've seen tons of them come and go. Etekcity has done a nice job on this one though. While I don't expect it to last as long as my Fluke 87, or 77, I've been using it for a few months now, and this meter that has stayed living on my bench. I didn't expect that to happen. I was going to just get it just for a "loaner" meter when someone needed to borrow one, or to take it where there was maybe a higher risk of it "walking away". I checked it versus NIST traceable standards, and it met the claimed accuracy right out of the box on all functions.. A little bulky, but a good bench working meter, with the right functions and ranges. The continuity beeper is not as lightning fast as a Fluke 87, but it is respectably quick, so you can scan a connector very quickly yet. Overall, way better than I expected, and a big step up from most cheap meters. Quick and stable readings for the most part. I would recommend it to a friend with no reservations. A lot of bang for the buck here. So far, my experience with Etekcity electronic stuff has been all positive.

Reliable and easy to read LCD. A winner!
Again I've used other multimeters before but this Etekcity easily became one of my favorites. Right off, the large LCD display was a standout. The numbers were large, clear and had good contrast. Even in direct sun I didn't need to turn on the backlight to read the display. All buttons were clearly laid out. The rotary dial didn't bind. The digital readings seemed stable and accurate; very little to no fluctuations. My only gripe was the DC volt function and its range button. For some reason when I was measuring solar PV voltages the range had to be > 0; when set to 0.0 or less I would get a error readings. At first I thought the PV panels were not outputting which was impossible in direct sunlight. Only after I changed the range to > 0.0 did I get readouts. Strange. Either way I still highly recommend this meter for the price and usability.

Multimetro Etekcity

amazing quality for the price
It seems to be well manufactured and works amazingly well. This is my first multi-meter and I was able to figure out how to use it without any issues. Measurements are good, and is exactly what I needed for my little projects.
