Great cargo tray

I'm REALLY happy with this tray. Mainly because it folds, has steel mesh on the bottom, and tall side rails. Also it comes with stretchy webbing, but I haven't needed that yet. On my Honda Pilot you can open the rear hatch with it lowered and even loaded with gear. (That's why these stick out a little further from your SUV than one might expect). My SUV's rear door of course won't open with the tray folded UP. I bought a thicker locking hitch bolt ($16) though to eliminate all side-to-side wiggling of the tray. The thin locking bolt they provide allows some wiggling. Instead, use that one to "lock down" or "lock up" the tray to prevent someone from being able to remove it with just some wrenches. If you're thinking of a cheaper non-folding tray, consider what you'll do with it when you arrive at your destination and want to drive around town, park, etc. It will be hard to see for someone walking by or even driving by. Also, I sprayed my tray with a coat of clear Krylon spray paint to prevent rusting over the years. Most people probably won't care about this, but I'm just picky. By the way, I use this with the ROLA 59102 expandable cargo bag (from Amazon) which fits perfectly.

Wanted it to Work but not for the Avalon.

Quality problems and booklet instructional problems. Not sure how the extra piece of plastic and bolt are to be installed to stop rattling. Instructions don't show how. Only installs one way and that matches the instruction booklet but not the picture featured in the ad. If it matched the picture that would give it that extra 2 inches of ground clearance to prevent the ground scraping on the Avalon on slight inclines. I do think it would work okay on SUVs or trucks with some extra ground clearance. So for now I will keep it in anticipation of getting the new Tacoma in the fall. Since it's a truck not much need really. The other issue is the twisted welds which make the rack not quite square. You might get lucky and it was just a quality issue on this one. Does appear to rust extremely fast and would be advisable to coat with some clear coat or something to slow it down. It is heavy cast iron steel.

This is a great cargo carrier

This is a great cargo carrier. Took a few minutes to assemble but that's ok. It is strong and capable. The cargo net that came with it was acceptable but should be smaller mesh I think. The locking hitch pin that was part of the package seemed like a good deal but the carrier sits pretty loosely on it causing it to sway and make groaning noises during turns. I found the waterproof cargo bag that fits this at a surplus store in LA for a steal. All in all happy to extend my pickup..

Not designed for a 1 1/4" receiver

I have to mark this as a "2" because I have a 1 1/4" receiver and this is for a 2" receiver. I purchased the adaptor for it but it stuck out almost 2 feet from my bumper so the amount of weight I could put on the rack was diminished considerably. I reordered a hitch specifically for my vehicle and believe it will work much better. The quality and integrity of the rack was excellent, there were no defects or imperfections. I'm sure if I had a 2" receiver, this rack would have met my needs very nicely.

Rusts fast.

Its Okay if you only intend to use it for few times. It is made of cheap steel which rusts quickly. I fixed it on my car and saw the rust developing in few days. especially on the bottom frame part. However it carries loads as promised.

Excellent product. The directions were not adequate to install the parts received. I had to get help from the local auto parts store. The package provided one key lock but I chose to add a second key lock(from the auto parts store) since there were two places the Cargo Carrier could easily be unhitched and stolen.
