Wife likes it I have not decided yet...
Been switching over all my outdoor tools to Ego for the extra run time compared to my Makita 18/36V tools, so much more run time. While I really like the Ego stuff, the one thing is the batteries really add some weight. They are much bigger batteries with more juice, so can't blame them for being what they are suppose to be. Not knocking the batteries. So, figured this backpack would be a handy accessory, my wife even more so. She tried it on with a 5Ah battery and the blower attached and she really likes it. Sure takes the weight off the tool. Plus it's easy to hook up, easy switching between tools as well. I also thought it would be even more useful if I get bigger batteries like the 10Ah and the new 12Ah (big prices though). For me though, so far it just seems to pull down on my back, just does not feel super comfortable. It's not bad, just feels awkward? Not sure how to explain it. I don't hate it and maybe once I get it, or mess with the adjustments, it might be better. And it will still be worth it for the lower tool weight. Seems it could have been designed a little better. That is just my opinion. Very handy accessory, just might not be comfortable to every one. I don't regret buying it.

Game changer for 5 ah and larger batteries especially
I was getting back soreness from using my Ego string trimmer and edger with 5 ah and 7.5 ah heavier batteries. I couldn't position the tool given its design and weight distribution to avoid it. I have long term back issues. This backpack...saves my back, may do the same for you if that is an issue for you. Like all my Ego tools its well designed and quality built,

Cuts like a champ!
Got this along with the PPX1000 power head. I use it to cut branches too precarious to get near by otherwise. The thing is suprisingly torquey and for example has no problem going through fresh oak limbs whole width of the blade. The couple feet extra added to the telescoping function of PPX1000 gives a quite nice reach to the system, it's not exactly light to swing around but what you get is a fair bit of stiffness and thus control.

Muscle fatigue greatly diminished
This is a real help for those of us who might suffer back fatigue from bending with a heavy EGO battery attached to our blower, hedge trimmer, or other EGO garden attachment requiring extended arms. Because the weight of the battery is borne by the back instead of the forearm or shoulder, the task is made much easier and safer against back or arm soreness. Allows more time to work on a garden project with much less fatigue as opposed to having that battery weight on the appliance itself at the end of your extended arm. Your health, safety, & efficiency is worth it !

EGO should discontinue this product
Had to purchase this product in order to use a $30 brush cutter. the only product EGO sells to cut brush except the lawn mower. To use the STX3800 Trimmer at $400 plus, you also must purshase a back pack at $300 as well as a battery and charger for the trimmer. Total cost over $1000; to cut brush.???!!! This contraption is not worthy of the EGO name brand. They are a triumph of marketing and finance departments over the engineering section. Better value is a refurbished ST1500SF-FC that works 3 times better and faster than the STX at a cost less than $100. Only thing the STX and companion 3 point brush cutter does better is cut small thorn bushes, but not trees over 1/4 inch. The ST does not cut brush very well BUT NEITHER DOES THE STX. Want to cut brush, look elsewhere than EGO or use the lawn mower if you can. That high torque machine cuts wood stock very well up to 1/2 inch. To insult to injury, the first STX purchased broke within 1 hour of brush cutting. The replacement came missing parts and clearly had been used and returned. I tried it out and it worked well cutting brush, but the string trimmer did not. Had to pull out the string by hand. Returned all items as a waste of time and energy.

First Tests Went Fine
Tried it out yesterday. I started with a 5.0 ah battery & connected to the 650CFM leaf blower. Obviously took a lot of weight off the tool. I also tested it using a Powerhead+ with string trimmer and hedge trimmer attachments, both ran fine. My wife needed a flower bed cultivated & I used this with the cultivator attachment to do that job. I also have a pole saw attachment but didn't bother testing that, considering that everything else had worked perfectly. I watched several video reviews prior to buying it so was aware that the connector must be fully inserted in the battery adapter for the tool. There is a green seal on the connector, when fully inserted this isn't visible. If you don't do that the tool may run briefly and cut out. I had no problems and everything worked as intended, I think I'm going to really like using this.

A solid pole saw
I spent a quick 30 minutes with the saw after receiving it. The 5.0 battery and rapid charger are nice additions to the set of Ego tools I have already - my main reason to purchase this was to be able to share batteries between yard tools. The trigger design is nice, you don't need to press the safety each cut. The variable speed (you have precise control) and power were more than enough for the light trimming I did. I'll test on some 8" logs I have later. One thing I want to point out is that the saw with the battery weighed in at 18.7 pounds. It gives your arms a good workout reaching for higher branches. I'd like to see other tools such as the line trimmer incorporate the gentle linear speed control of this tool and trigger design.

Love this thing
Started using EGO line trimmer and love it. It was a somewhat heavy with the 4AH battery already and I plan to get 6 or 12AH batteries to improve runtime. With the 4AH battery on the backpack, the trimmer is much easier to use. This kit had all the parts you need to put the battery on your back and run the EGO trimmer. Also plan to use it with my EGO chainsaw which has been extremely useful for clearing trails. For longer run times with less strain on your arms and neck, this backpack is great.
