Good but has some flaws.

I received the ramp today and despite the older negative reviews this ramp seems to be ok. I bought the 3' x 30" model. It is light weight and easy to carry. It did not have the big handle as shown in the picture. So it is either on a different model or they changed the handle to not interfere with the bottom as it previously had. Also instead of the same handle going through the bag for the carry handle there is now a separate handle sewn onto the bag. Seems a little redundant to have the handle on the ramp still since there is one on the bag but I guess if you lost the bag there would still be a handle. I am a 6' 3" 300lb guy, walking up the ramps they did give a little but not much. My only beef with these as you can see in one of the pictures I uploaded was having a storm door and it conflicting with the lip on the ramp. If you are going to use or attach this ramp to your threshold and still be able to close the storm door, you will need to cut away a section of the railing for the door to shut. I have taken pictures of the bottom and a side view of the bottom so you can see there is no protruding handle and that is actually fits flush between the to sides when laid flat.

Great Value

I chose to buy the open box deal offered and saved big dollars. Ramp was repackaged in non stock box, but otherwise new condition. The carry handles on the ramp differed from the photo, but I actually prefer the all metal handles. The carry bag had carry straps instead of handles, but that is fine too. Very satisfied and with free two day shipping, what's not to love? I plan to use it with my wifes wheelchair when we park in areas without ramps up curbs or one or two steps. Its not recommended for more than one step, but I am strong enough to deal with the extra steep angle when used with two steps. Fits right behind the front seat of our Buick, and the chair rides right behind it (removed the bottom of the rear seat). We got a good deal on her Drive Medical Blue Streak wheelchair too (at Walmart online) so for a little over $200 we have both chair and portable ramp. It pays to shop the deals online and stay away from local health product stores that mark up items 1000%

Handle makes the ramp unusable on standard door threshold

Gee, I wish I'd read the reviews before ordering this product. As two other reviewers noted, the poor placement of the handle makes this ramp (we bought the 3 x 30 model) pretty much useless unless you're using it on a rise higher than a door threshold (about 3 1/4 - 3 1/2" on our doors). The problem is that the handle doesn't fold, so it gets in the way and makes it impossible for the ramp to lie flat. To make matters worse, the handle can't just be unscrewed easily and removed - it needs to be drilled out because it's riveted. It's a shame, too, because the ramp is otherwise great and comes with it's own carrying case, which would make it easy to carry and keep clean. However, because the case is designed with a hole in the top to accommodate the built-in handle, if you remove the handle to make the ramp usable, you don't have any handle for the ramp OR the case. I called Drive Medical and talked to someone in tech support. I asked whether the ramp I got was defective or if this is the way it's designed. He wasn't really sure. Then I questioned whether, if it was defective, there was a way to get a new one. He said I'd have to return it to Amazon and request a new one. But when I said I didn't want to return it if the next one was going to have the same problem and I really wanted to know if this is the way it's designed, he put me on hold, then came back a minute or two later and said it wasn't defective and there was no recall, so I'd have to decide whether or not to return it and try another one. I bought this ramp to take on vacation next week so we could get a wheelchair in our in-law's house, and I don't have time to return it and get another one that might have the same problem, so we're going to drill out the handle. Bottom line - DON'T buy this ramp unless you're using it on a rise higher than a doorway threshold.

A good solution!

I had foot surgery in February and needed a way to get up a step from one end of the house to the other. The ramp has worked perfectly to get the wheelchair from the den to the kitchen. It is easy for my husband to quickly unfold and put in place.

Light weight yet durable

This wheelchair/scooter ramp was perfect for what I needed it for. I had knee replacement surgery and it was difficult and painful stepping out of my kitchen doorway onto my patio, which was only a six inch drop. This ramp made it possible to simply walk on a slight angle to move in and out of my house. I am nearly recovered from that surgery and no longer need the ramp for that purpose. However, I will be having another knee replacement in a few months and will use this ramp again.

Inexpensive portable wheelchair ramp

I have already purchased 3 of these ramps and am getting ready to buy a fourth to provide access for my wife's motorized chair over 3 to 6" steps in our home. They are a an excellent value (reasonably priced for what you get). The ramps tend to flex somewhat under heavy weight (I am over 200 lbs) and my wife's chair is more than that. But they have not bent . They are a good buy.

Sturdy and portable

This worked great in getting a wheelchair in and out over a 6" doorway. It's a little heavy but sturdy and manageable.

Versatile

I do not have a wheel chair, I use this to wheel my kayaks in and out of my walk out basement. I have one step to negotiate and this ramp makes the task much easier. I am sure it works great for its intended purpose.

It is solid and easy to handle

It is solid and easy to handle. The wheelchair rolls in easily. It is a bit too large to fit easily in my sliding side door entry but I can work around this. I am very happy with this product.
