Slow but cheap USB extension cables

These USB extension cables are slow (USB 2.0 speeds) but cheap (I got a 3 pack of these cables for under $5 total). For applications where you don't need high USB speeds, these are excellent extension cables. For example, I used one of these cables to hook up a small USB fan to a "USB charger" that was a little further away. Since I'm only using the cable to pass power (i.e. to extend the reach to a "charger"), speed of the cable is not important to me. As such, this extension easily meets my needs, while being a lot less expensive than other (higher speed) cables I could have also bought/used. Of course, for applications where USB speeds matter I go with (more costly) higher end USB cables. For example, I make sure I use at least USB 3.0 rated cables for any applications where I'm interfacing to an external disk drive (or even interfacing to my USB headset). However, some of my applications really are not sensitive to cable speed, so for those "lower speed" applications I may instead choose to use these "cheaper to buy" cables.

Useful

These are handy dandy for a lot of things. For instance, you might have a bed where the bed only has an outlet on one side but you and your partner both like to charge your phones while you sleep. I just run one of these under the bed along the headboard and plug in the phone charger on the other side. Same thing with my watch charger. And if you’re like me and use your phone to read while you’re in bed, this is great because then it’s easy to turn or change position without ever having to hold a short charger cable at an awkward angle. I’ve also used them for some other basic things but keep in mind what you’re getting is a usb 2.0 cable. It will NOT be able to handle a lot of data throughput and you shouldn’t expect it to, it isn’t made for that. If you need that then spend more money on a 3.0 cable or something else.

Excellent for adding extra length to my DVD recorder!

This extension cord was used to lengthen the original power/data cord on my DVD writer so it could easily reach and be connected to my computer. This cord served the purpose.

Low resistance for high power

I got two of the 1.5 ft extension, I use them to extend from a port on a charger in the back of a cabinet, and also occasionally to extend a usb power meter when testing. I had a couple cheap usb extension cables (that came included with a wireless mouse dongle and a wifi dongle), and tried to use one to extend a charging port from a hub in the back of a cabinet, and had issues. A USB power meter confirmed that there was too much voltage drop when the device was drawing 2A. I needed some cables with much lower resistance. Cables with fatter conductors will have less resistance, or cables which are simply shorter. So, these 1.5 ft extensions with 24 AWG power wires should be great for this use case, and they are! I observe about 100 to 150 milli-ohms resistance, across gnd and vcc wires together (so about 60 to 70 milli-ohms each I guess, and some variation for the plug and device I'm testing with).

Works just like how it should

Great value, nothing fancy or special. I use it only as an extension usb power cable and it work fine. Not sure doesn't it transmit data.

Worked perfect as my tv is well mounted

The media could not be loaded. This was great as worked well as I couldn't teach the hdmi at the back of the tv, I managed to get my hand in just enough to plug it in, it is just long enough to sit behind the tv and cant be seen, now I can plug any memory stick in as has 2 female ends definitely recommend this

Great extension cable.

Does its job perfectly. I bought it to use a Leap Motion with my HTC Vive as the Leap cable won't fit into the integrated USB port. This one was just bound to the existing wiring so it didn't get in the way and allowed me to stick my Leap Motion onto the front of the Vive. Of course, this cable would be totally fine for other purposes. Looks to be of good quality and I would recommend it.

It's a cable, so it's not like we're getting married or anything.... Regardless; followed the Wirecutter advice and am definitely pleased with the quality of the cable. In combination with a the Wirecutter recommended USB charger mains electricity adapter (made by a company called Anker, I think), I'm getting full charge speeds on all my 2A devices etc. These cables are super value.

Quality cable

Its a good product, and the online reviews say that they work and last well compared with cheap cables. Personally I would prefer them to be a bit shorter but couldn't find any when I purchased.
