Cuts accurately and all the way through heavy card stock
Bought this to make print and play card games and create some post card style cards. It cuts through heavy card stock easily. With the see through guide I had no issues making straight cuts. I have used it for a while and it is very durable so I would recommend this for any crafter.

Easy to use
This is a great paper cutter! I make greeting cards and need to cut through cardstock. This cutter works superbly!

Not bad, not bad.
I am a teacher, and I ordered this paper cutter to use at home. I wanted something that would save me time when I was creating materials for my classroom. I am more interested in durability than precision. I just received this product, so I can't comment on durability yet, but here are my first impressions. Operation: To cut, you position the paper and then push down on the blade housing as you slide it. Even on single sheets of paper, you will sometimes have to go down and back, effectively cutting it twice to go all the way through a single sheet. I tried to cut seven sheets of paper (colored printer paper, which is a little bit thicker than standard white copy paper), which resulted in the first four sheets getting sliced cleanly. The second pass cut the remaining sheets. This paper cutter works best with a single sheet; if I were planning on regularly cutting multiple sheets at a time I would not buy this trimmer. One neat feature is that the body of the trimmer is metal, and you can use a magnet (not provided) to secure your paper while cutting. This means you could use the trimmer one-handed, if you were so inclined. Safety: I would have no problem taking this product into my classroom, as the kids would really have to work at it to hurt themselves. The blade is concealed, and the guides are tight enough to keep even little fingers away during normal operation. Precision: If you are looking for a precise paper cutter, this is NOT the product for you. It is unreliable. Sometimes the cuts are straight, and sometimes they are not. The bar that the rotary trimmer is attached to wobbles, sometimes so much so that the blade does not connect with the paper on the first try. If I am cutting along a printed line, it will sometimes stay right on it, sometimes start on the line and end up off of it. This problem is compounded if you are trimming all four sides of a piece of paper. While it is visibly off at times, this paper cutter still suits my purposes. My students aren't going to notice or care if the cards for a game are a fraction off of square. Durability: Just got it, so not much to say. You can already see a groove in the cutting strip underneath the blade, but eh. One nice thing is that there are spaces within the board to store additional blades and cutting mats, and the part numbers for replacements are printed right on the trimmer.

Paper cutter
I am very impressed with the cutting ability. I have gutted 8pages all together. I just had to take off a very very small piece. It glided through like a hot knife through butter. So far very impressed with the cutter. The blade is tucked away. Easy to use. Highly recomend this cutter.

Can't cut letter sized paper???
What's the first thing to do with this? Hmm... cut length-wise. Okay that's great, up to 15"! The blade doesn't cut so easily but I'm guessing it's a limitation of non-slicing cutters. Just press hard and pull apart carefully. Now to cut width-wise... WHAT? Max 8.5"??? But this determines the length of the page! I started yanking on the sides expecting a ruler of some sort to pop out. Nothing!!! I can't cut letter-sized pages from piles of photo stock?!? AHHHH!!!!!! Why did I throw the packaging a way??? :-(((

Works Great and Fast
I'm not one to usually go out of my way to write reviews so the fact that I am for this cutter says something. I'm extremely picky when it comes to cutters and have tried all of them. I hate the swing cutters because they move your page and suck at being precise. I hate the Fiskars track cutters because the plastic bows and wobbles to make an uneven straight line if you press too hard. But this cutter is great. It has a hard solid edge so no wobbly lines and cuts fast. I'm usually cutting thick transparency paper which is like a plastic and this has no problem cutting through it. In the past I've also noticed a lot of my paper cutters take a couple passes to cut through the thicker paper and the blades dull quickly. This blade is made of whatever metal that it doesn't seem to be dulling anytime soon. It's also nice that the cutter has a storage area for extra replacement blades. Overall, it's worth the money and a good second to the very expensive Rotatrim paper cutters I used while in art school.

Good cut, not accurate
I loved the smoothness of the cutter. It cuts a lot cleaner than the cheaper fiskars cutter I was using. I'm cutting 8.5x11 in cardstock 110lb weight, and it cuts cleanly (at least brand new out of the package,I only received it a few hours ago.) I will say that I was disappointed because the scale is NOT ACCURATE. I was doing a simple cut to make my A2 cards, and I realized that my stack of cards was not lining up. I pulled out my ruler and found the right measurement, and I've marked it on my cutter - where the 5.5 in. half mark is for my cuts. At 5.5 inches, the scale is around 1/8" off! I could make it work with my pencil mark, but I will probably send it back because that's kind of an issue for making professional and accurate cards. It's a beautiful design, easy to use, gives a straight cut, but don't trust it to give you the right measurement! I wish I could say I loved it, but I don't want to pull out a yardstick every time I need to find out an accurate measurement.

Good timmer for general craft/school/office use.
This timmer is sharp and accurate. I tried to cut my 12X18 inch watercolor papers into 4.5X6 inch pieces with no problem. I would give 5 stars if I don’t need to press down hard to make the cut. I know not all trimmers need that as I used Staples’ similar timmer at their Copy Centre where I only need to push the handle back and forth to cut, but no need to press down at all. If I press down, I can cut 1 watercolor cardstock ONLY. It can only cut 2 if I press very hard. I haven’t tried to cut any regular copy papers, but I doubt it can cut 12 sheets at one time?

Test on old photos etc until you get the feel
Very pleased with the cutter. Took a few goes to get used to it after using a Dahl cutter for years. Cuts paper laminated card photos etc no problem.

Love my Carl rotary blade cutter
Love my Carl rotary blade cutter! Love the built in handle for carrying. Love the precision cutting and all the guidelines! Awesome cutter in my opinion (and I have tested a few now in past couple years!)

Terrible quality
I thought this would be a better quality given that it's a reputable brand. The blade wouldn't cut all the way through a single photo, and did not make straight cuts. The whole cutting mechanism felt cheap and rickety. Pretty terrible for the price, and I realized after the fact that it was not returnable! Complained to Amazon Customer Service, and got a refund, but they might not always do that. I definitely would not recommend this trimmer!
