So far so good! (Updated review)
UPDATE: I've now used this Waterpik for several weeks. When the batteries are not low, the clean feeling from the stream of water irrigating your teeth and gums is amazing. The stream starts to become weak when the batteries start to wane (I'm using rechargeable Nickel Metal Hydride batteries and I recommend doing the same if you use this product often.). I usually only refill once or twice now using the smaller "pocket" tips. The reservoir will run out more quickly with the other tips. I really enjoy the pocket tips and highly recommend them to get a very direct, penetrating stream. For the flossing solution, I have been doing a mixture of half mouthwash (Lysterine Total Care - the purple one,) about 7 drops of Eden's Garden Tea Tree Oil (which is amazing and the best tasting/smelling tea tree oil I've ever tried,) seven drops of Eden's Garden Peppermint Oil (delicious,) and the rest warm water. I've found that my teeth are way too sensitive to use a cold solution. The only problem I've encountered - and this may or may not be due to the use of oils - is the black rubber ring seal of the reservoir became bloated or stretched and I had to remove it to get it to seal after filling. It would literally get in the way and not allow me to close the reservoir without a sharp object to force in the section of the seal that was sticking out. After a few more days even that stopped working. I now have to leave the reservoir (minus the seal) open between uses or it will become stuck and nearly impossible to open. It's a minor annoyance and I wish i could keep it closed for sanitary reasons but I've chosen to keep it regardless. I do use this in the shower (the main reason I chose this model) and I imagine I would make a mess if I attempted to do otherwise. For me at least, it's very easy to accidentally redirect the spray and squirt the walls and yes - I've zapped myself in the eye quite a few times. It hurts but it's admittedly kind of funny and could just be me. Overall, I LOVE the feeling after using this with the solution mentioned and plan to keep it as a permanent part of my regimen. Original review: This is my first Waterpik. I chose this one so I could use it in the shower. I fill it with WARM water (I have sensitive teeth and using cold water was intolerable) mixed with mouthwash and/or tea tree oil, peppermint oil. I also bought the pocket tips and I am very pleased with the results. I can feel the water cleaning between each tooth and I am able to reach spots that are impossible to access with a toothbrush. I also HATE flossing, so this is the perfect alternative. With the pocket tips I fill up the reservoir about 3-4 times with each use to clean my entire mouth very thoroughly, though twice would suffice if you were in a rush. Only downside is that I wish there was an easier way to fill the reservoir and flush it out for cleaning but it's not a big problem. In all I really enjoy using this product and I would recommend it.

Great overall but quick to empty
Waterpik quality, small water reservoir only lasts 30 seconds or so on low speed, but should be enough to get either the lower or upper half of the mouth thoroughly done, but not both.

I'm critical of it, but it's still a good first timer option
This is a decent compromise for travelers and those without a lot of counter space in their bathrooms. I've used this model for 3 years and moving onto something else (not sure what... Yet). I broke down the review into categories that affect the usage and overall reliability of the product using a letter grade Overall quality: (D) this unit is very hard to keep clean. Worse, the cap that seals the batteries on the bottom is just flimsy enough to cause connectivity issues. These are typically noticable after at least a few months of usage - most common during battery replacement (won't turn on, water leaking through the seams inside the compartment and the cap just doesn't hold up). Pressure: (C) it's good for about 3-5 days. I've tried everything you can think of in it. From Lithium batteries to conventional to commercial cells. The output is useable for 2wks at most, but after that, you'll hear it straining at certain angles and distances. It'll also take 2x longer to run through the tank because output is so low. Still, I find it to do better than floss, especially in-between teeth with wide gaps. Traveling: (B) while it's bulky, the detachable head makes it fit in my grooming bag. Having this available on the road is a convenience that I think is worth any hassle to bring it along. Overall reliability and upkeep: (F) these things fail. At best, I've made it about a year. At worst, 7 months. Worse, keeping it hygienic is a battle. If you don't like losing battles, especially where mold is concerned, then this thing will make you hurt and hate. I've tried a peroxide mix in one that began to fail. Pipe brushes to clean the tank aren't effective because of its shape. The pickup tube has a sealed cap on the hose, which is why I went with peroxide. Nada. I can't keep it clean. Your best bet is to toss it out and get a new one. Would I buy it again? No. I've bought enough of these and think another model deserves a shot. In fact, I'm steering clear of Waterpik based on what I'm finding for options (not opinions because I think some folks are just too intense with this stuff). If its your first, this is a good place to start. At the cost, it's honestly not a bad tool. It'll give you a starting point while initially proving to be a reliable tool. I'd suggest buying larger quantities of cheap batteries than lower quantity for quality. They won't last. This may be important - I find that Duracells regular copper tops fit the best into the battery area. Energizer batteries seem to have an issue with fitment. I hope this helps!

After just 13 months, kerplunk
This waterpik was very hard on batteries. I also didn’t like that it was hard to clean the reservoir. But my biggest complaint is that it died after just 13 months of light use. I’d say I used it no more than 10 times a month over its lifespan of just 13 months. I don’t like to write negative reviews, but this is a product that really deserves one.

Five years of use, still clean, here's how
My husband has been using this model for five years. He had me occasionally running the tank through the dishwasher, but now that I've bought my own (a different model on the right of the picture) I've looked more closely. I see now that his tank is a little grimy internally at the base. So here's what I did to get it sparkling clean. I had two things lying around: some disposable bamboo skewers, and some magic eraser sponges. (They're both cheap on amazon.) I cut a small piece of the magic eraser sponge and stuffed it through the big hole on the side. Then I stuck a skewer down the smaller hole, and swished the sponge around with a few drips of vinegar. Whala! Clean. I also ran some vinegar through the whole unit by spraying my bathroom walls with the alcohol-filled pik. Then of course I emptied it and ran water through it once, to get rid of any residual vinegar. The vinegar is an anti-bacterial but the most important thing is getting that sponge to wipe down the inside walls of the tank. Hubby's waterpik is good as new, and I intend to keep mine as good as new. Both are two different companies and models but both can be cleaned just fine. (I also showed cotton here as an alternative, but I like those eraser sponges.)

It's the most horrible design you will ever encounter
so ok, first off it does the job but it is the most horrible design I have ever encountered, to the point of being dangerous. The thing is designed to spray your face the movement you bring it close because you will most definitely turn it on accidentally 1/3rd of the time... And if that happens on a fresh battery and it hits you in the eye... not fun! the container CANNOT be cleaned! After a few month it is DISGUSTING, slime and mold line the interior of that water tank now.. The batteries last 6 days, and you need to practically disassemble the whole unit to replace the batteries, and usually that result in the product exploding apart, parts flying all over the place... just now I spend 30 minutes trying to find where the water tank flew when I was replacing the batteries. Water goes in the battery compartment and the battery connectors inside are all rusted out, making the battery connection intermittent and weak.. and as slimy and disgusting as the water tank Basically it the worst waterpik ever. This product Is a turd. I would be ashamed of this design. It's like the person who designed this went above and beyond to make it a turd.

Overall good quality, but might battery contacts corrode
I like this product, but I wish it's battery compartment had better water-proofing, since as soon as the water gets in, it might start corroding the contact springs, that would eventually make the contact loose & the flosser would behave as if the batteries are dying. If this already happened to your device, and it's outside the return window, you can use some aluminum foil to improve contact.

Just awesome on all levels.
Love this flosser. Gets into the spots that brushing doesn't, with ease. Amazing how much junk it blasts out after brushing. My dental hygenist commented (who recommended it) that my gums and plaque build up had a marked improvement since my last cleaning...then I told her I'd gone ahead and bought this. Had it 11 months and something inside the unit failed. Worked one day, not the next. Went online and filled out the contact us page at Watepik. Got a response within hours, with advice on cleaning, new batteries etc. I tried the solutions and still no go. The helpful, polite rep asked for a serial # and a purchase date/receipt. Sent that and within a day or so they reply they are shipping me a new one free of any charge. Was beyond happy with the product, and now with the company and customer service. I'd buy another of their products in a second.

Caused some major laughs!
Took a bit of getting used to, and caused some major laughs between my boyfriend and I when we were leaking and dripping everywhere at the start. We primarily use it in the shower now to avoid this. At the start, the reservoir allowed me to floss half my mouth at a time. I gained more experience, and now I can zip through my entire mouth on the 30-second reservoir now! Not sure if it’s as effective as regular flossing, but it sure does make my mouth feel clean!
