Don't drink out of it.

For the price, and prime shipping it was good. I will use it at a reenactment event, but keep a water bottle in the haversack. Solder has lead.

Stylish canteen.

Why is it everyone is walking around with their hand occupied by a water bottle? Let's bring back the canteen and this one is the most stylish. I wanted stainless steal not plastic. Plastic gives water a funny Tast and my son will not drink it. The shape of this canteen sits nicely on my side and does not bounce around. The rope sling is easily adjustable by pulling it trough the loops and adding a knote. This allows me to adjust the size and hand it off to one of the kids to carry. The one draw back is the bung style top. I would prefer a screw style but it is a reproduction so they have to stay true. One word of worming. Do not push the top in to hard it can be difficult to get out if jammed in.

it leaks

It leaks, I can fix it because I have experience in soldering. Other than the leaking problem it's an OK item for the money.

Broke within a few uses

Definitely not sturdy. Started leaking from the bottle after a few weeks.

My son will use this with his "minuteman costume" ... very nicely made. The rope is long enough for crossbody wearing. Very unique

NOT INTENDED FOR FOOD OR WATER, DECORATION ONLY.

Poor quality, poor construction, suspected industrial steel (sheet metal), could leech heavy metals into fluids. All joints are soldered, done with amateur skills, most have cracks in them. Possible use of lead based solder as it is made in Pakistan (different rules of manufacturing). I contacted SZCO (the manufacturer) and was told that none of the components are food safe, he told me that it would NEVER be approved by the FDA. These are made for re-enactors and were NEVER intended to hold food or water. He said that AMAZON is the retailer, and that they choose to advertise it at their discretion, as they were told all of those little details and chose to not warn people. Thanks for nothing AMAZON! Returned same day.

not for potable water use

being stainless steel implies it is safe for actual use which it is not ( e-mail company to find out) If solely meant for an authenticate appearance ( reenactment,etc) it would be tin. No where does it say do not use for drinking.
