I just finished mowing my lawn with the MJ402E and I am both puzzled and pleased. The grass was on the longish side (townhouse) which meant I had to empty the rear bag five times. Once the grass is under control I figure I will have to empty it at least twice per lawn cutting. It does hold a lot of clippings, but still, it is a bit annoying to have to stop and empty the bag into a lawn/leaf bag. Does it mulch? Nope. It cuts the grass and you empty the grass clippings. The part that puzzled me was getting it to start. At the very beginning, it came to life and start cutting the grass. Then I stopped it to empty the bag and for the life of me couldn't get it to start again. I came back inside, re-read the instruction and saw what was happening. You have to tilt the mower back towards you (really tilt) then press the button and pull down the handle. That took some getting used to. Tilt, press, pull. If nothing happens (as with me), tilt it some more, press and pull. Check that the thing is still plugged in, then tilt waaay backwards, press and pull. Whoever said it was not noisy must be hearing impaired. This thing is as loud as any gas mower. I like that it is electric and doesn't smell up the place and that I don't have to store gas as with a gasoline mower. I like that it has a handle that allows you to easily pick the thing up to bring inside, but I will have to go back to the instructions to figure out how to fold the handle and not end up taking the thing apart. Overall, I am pleased with this purchase and know that in time I will get the hang of it now that I have gotten my lawn back under control. No regrets on the purchase whatsoever. (P.S. the instructions said there were two clips for the cord, but they were not in my box).

It Is What It Is!

This electric lawnmower was inexpensive and does the job. It cuts well and is lightweight. It was what I expected it to be. It is a little quirky, however. Sometimes, it will not start unless you lift it vertically, press the start button, and engage the mowing lever. I only knew this after seeking Internet help when the mower wouldn't start. I had checked the connections of the electric cables and was frustrated when the mower wouldn't start. A man on the Internet showed me the technique of lifting the mower vertically and voila. It started. I have used this technique ever since.

Perfect for my son

I bought this after my landscaper told me that his charge was going to be doubled due to everything being so expensive. I had to let him go and decided that my 13 year old son was going to have to do it! He never did this before. It's lightweight and small. Does the job really well. Its perfect for our yard! The only drawback is that you need to keep it plugged in. I didn't realize that. I thought you just charge - unplug and mow! Wish it was the case. You have to make sure you don't mow the extension cord! Overall I'm very happy with this lawnmower!

Very nice

This work very well.the only bad part is the power.if you have tall grass you might lose a lil power when cutting grass. Lite weight.the only thing is the cord might get in the way.other than that nice machine.

Very happy with our purchase.

Assembled very easily. I used it in my very small patch of grass in back yard and it worked great. I had a stroke 7 months ago subsequently I am very weak. I was able to maneuver the mower with ease.

Excellent Mower!

This is an excellent mower, and well worth the price. It is light enough to easily carry, but heavy enough to hug the ground. The 12 amp motor is a little powerhouse when it comes to cutting through thick tall grass and weeds. The mulching action greatly reduces even tall grass and weeds (2+ feet high) to very small bits. I am extremely pleased with this mower, and recommend that you give it a try. I intend to get a Snow Joe snow blower this winter and give it a try. I am sold on Sun Joe!

It worked great, but I didn't notice until after I mowed and cleaned it up, that it didn't sit flat, it rocked, due to one of the front wheels not touching the ground. And one of the back wheels is leaning WAY too close to the body of the mower. I had my son look at it (he's a welder and mechanical designer) and he said it was welded that way; I thought maybe he could bend it out, but no. I put it together on my carpet and checked it out, then carried it out to the lawn; I was so excited about getting to mow, that I didn't think to put it on my patio to check out to see if it sat flat. It did a GREAT job of mowing and was very easy to handle. I've been mowing the grass since I was 10yrs old, with mowers that my Dad put together with scrape parts, all the way up to large riding lawn mowers at work. I like the grass kept short, I don't like "the abandon house look", that the men in my life have seemed okay with, so I mow. At 58, this is much easier to deal with, no oil, no gas and no smelly fumes and this is easy to move around.

A Ripoff!!! Buyer Beware!!!

Buyer beware!!! I bought this lawnmower. Used it for 5 minutes and it started smoking and shutdown. I was unable to restart it. Spoke to Amazon and they sent me a replacement. Used the replacement lawnmower for 5 minutes and again it started smoking and shutdown. Again I was unable to restart it. Spoke to Amazon again and was told that I would have to ship the items back to them. I was told the shipping costs would be refunded. These were 2 large and heavy boxes and the cheapest that I could ship them both was for a combined total of $146.62. I let the person at Amazon know this was the cost and I was informed I would receive the money back. Amazon received the boxes today and they sent me an email indicated that they have paid me the shipping costs. When I looked at the email I found out that they only refunded be $3.99 for shipping cost even though it cost me $146.62. Needless to say I am not very happy. The inconvenience of dealing with two faulty lawnmowers and out of pocket $142.63. That will be the last time that I will buy any large items for amazon. Buyer beware!!!

Don't go for a corded lawnmower

The lawnmower itself works well... however the ability to turn quickly and make lines is almost impossible and unsafe because of the cord. Its very difficult to work with the cord because you have to constantly keep shifting it so you don't run over it. The empty bag holds a fair amount. We bought this last summer and stored it in our garage untouched over winter, this year it has already decided to completely stop working.

Pleased, with this little green machine. So much easier than a gas one.

Ok, so this mower works because I have a small yard, if it was any bigger, I think I would prefer something more powerful, but that being said, my grass was WAY over grown for the first mow of the year, and as long as I went slow and emptied the bag often, I was fine. Pros Light Weight, Looks Good Powerful enough for 6" grass that should have been mowed earlier Cons Not the widest blade, so more back and forth (but good for a smaller yard) My son does the mowing for the most part, and he even took it over to a friends house and did there 1/4 yard, with it. Not that I would reccomend it for larger or over grown yards, but it still did the job.

Overheats! 1 Star.

I am surprised this item received such high reviews (one of the reasons we purchased it). Unfortunately, the mower overheats and started smoking! Very lightweight and easy to move but had to return.

Love it. the wheels came a bit bent but ...

Love it. the wheels came a bit bent but was able to bend back into place. I'm a little worried about their durability there but otherwise it does a great job on my tiny little lawn and let's my son use it with supervision to use it and make a little money mowing the neighbors lawn over the summer.
