Currently the best price for this U lock anywhere online
Ive been watching the various listings on Amazon for the 230MM and 300MM X-Plus locks. Most listings are now going between $90-$150 but the 230MM model on this page has been dipping down to $52-$55 for short periods of time. Jump on it like I did if you see it at that price. The photo on this listing is for the silver/black 5.5" "Granit-X Plus 54 mini" lock, NOT the grey/black "Granit-X Plus 230MM lock. The lock comes with a card containing your lock's keycode if you need to replace the keys. You can also use the code to get a keyed-alike lock (only other Granit-X plus models are compatible). The 230MM lock (sold/shipped by Amazon) comes with the "ABUS USH 540 Bracket/18576 Mount" bracket/mount Ive noticed that bracket's installation instructions have caused some people confusion. The photo directs you to put 2 screws thru the mount and it looks like doing so will interfere with sliding the lock/bracket into the mount, which is true, but that is because you are supposed to first slide the bracket into the mount then drive the two screws thru both the bracket and mount to secure them to your bike frame. The bracket isnt designed to be removed from the mount. Both parts are designed to stay mounted to the bike and you just unlock the lock to remove it. im not a huge fan of the mount/bracket as its pretty limited and there are some weak points built into the design. Its secured to the bike like a clamshell with the mouth held closed by 2 screws. The diameter of the mouth of the clamshell shape is too small in diameter to put it most places on my bike and I had to put it on the chainstay triangle bar. The part of the clamshell that joins together is way too thin, and the more you tighten the 2 screws, the more likely it is to stress that thin part of plastic. Seems like the like the first failure point for this mount. I bought the Kryponite Flexmount U Bracket vr2 to have a more flexible mount for my bicycle. Some complain that bracket is also fragile but Ive had one for 4 years with no issues. If you cut off the sleeving on the shackle of the u-lock, the larger metal spline will fit over it. Youd have to do the same thing to use Abus's other widely available "ABUS EaZy KF Bracket". Abus has another newer "universal" mount "Bracket SH B" but I havent tried it. Im probably going to buy a chean waterproof seat cover or something like a showercap to put over the lock to keep water ingress to a minimum. I dont think these locks were designed for really cold and wet conditions. PS: Dont judge the condition of my drivetrain... I let it get Vvery bad. I have all new parts waiting I just wanted to run these parts into the ground before doing a full overhaul. lol

Solid bike lock, as good as it gets - but no bike lock is 100% secure
As good as a bike lock will get..... but still not theft proof, an angle grinder will get through it and the lock picking lawyer was able to pick it..... so just be careful.

This thing is a monster
I bought this because this keeps coming up as one of the best. I'll be honest though -- I'm returning it because I would never use something this big. So, if practicality isn't there it's just useless. How am I supposed to ride with something this big? It may in fact be less heavy than the rest of the market, and just as strong, but if it's too big, too heavy, and just too much of a pain to use, I ain't using it! So 5/5 for quality and 1/5 for practicality. Now, the good things -- it's strong, I feel safe with it, it could** be carried if I installed the bracket (I am whining a bit...), and I wouldn't try stealing the bike with this lock on it, and it definitely fits around both** the frame and wheel. One thing that concerns me is that it leaves A LOT of room for a leverage attack, although I highly doubt it could be broken easily that way either, but who knows... For that reason, I chose the 5.5" mini rather than this. In fact, here's what initially happened: 1) first i ordered the mini version of this 2) then I got it and was like "wtf, this won't fit anything!" 3) then i ordered the bigger version to try 4) then i got the bigger version and said "this is way too big" 5) I stuck with the mini version, and I'll just see what happens The mini works -- just barely, and perhaps maybe even just the frame most times, but I'd much rather have that than this. Now, I will say this -- this is good if you plan on leaving or locking your bike outside for a while. I don't plan to do that, so this isn't practical for me. I want a strong lock for lock and go situations like stopping at stores, going grocery shopping, etc.

Best Quality Lock
First off, I didn't get this at a discount or anything, I am just a broke college student who really didn't want my only transportation to get stolen and I want to give my opinion to help others make a choice on a lock. So.. I've had this lock a couple months now and it is holding up perfectly. I thought not having a mount would bother me, but I've been carrying it in my backpack and cannot feel the weight. There's some clever ways of mounting it that other people have posted on here, so those are options as well. As for the lock itself, I thoroughly researched U-locks and this was the best option for me. It has the highest level of security, which is important in Downtown LA/Hollywood where I usually leave my bike, and bikes even get lifted out of the enclosed Metro Bike Hubs! The lock is made in Germany, with a higher grade steel. The locking mechanism is very high quality. Putting in the key is very smooth, and it never sticks. I watched some videos of Kryptonites being picked extremely quickly, and what's the point of having a huge shackle if the thing can be picked in little time? It's a little pricier than "comprable" locks, but I thought, I'd rather spend $30 more on a lock now for quality, than another $800 on a new bike + accessories + another lock when a lesser quality one gets picked/broken. I recommend this lock. I have come to trust Abus quality. (At least their German-made locks as I understand some of them are made in China and I have no experience with those)

Lighter than competition + (a little bit) better mount
Watch or read any review and you know that this is a top bike lock, right up there with the New York lock but lighter. I'm torn about the mount though. One one hand it's rock solid and my lock doesn't jiggle around all over the place, which I can't say about my Kryptonite and OnGuard locks. On the other hand, it's awkward to use because the lock has to be fully unlocked to get it in or out of the mount. I end up fumbling around a lot and it takes longer than I'd like. Unlike the other two that I mentioned, I still use it so I think it's a little better.

As expected. Rock solid and top build quality.

Fantastic compact lock.
I’m confident that a bike thief would look for an easier target when they see I’m using this.

Good quality lock that's not too heavy. Works with Eazy KF.
NB: This comes with the USH bracket, rather than the smaller, slicker and more convenient Eazy KF bracket. To use the Eazy KF bracket, you'll need to order "Abus 9210 Shackle Clamp" and Eazy KF bracket. To fit the clamp onto the lock, trim away some of the rubber coating on the U shackle. The Eazy KF bracket allows you to clip the lock onto the frame and press a button to release, whereas the USH bracket requires you to unlock the lock to remove. The lock seems solid and the mechanism works well. This is the shorter 230mm version, a longer 300mm version is also available. You do need to turn the key to lock rather than the D section clipping in. Lightweight for the security rating which is Art Level 3 and Sold Secure Gold. At around 1.5kgs it is half a kilo less than the Kryptonite equivalent. One star off for value for money. At £70 it is expensive, but if your bike is worth it, you can't get much better for the weight. Please press the 'Helpful' button if this review is useful for you!

Strong lock easy to use and it is compact
I like the small size because it makes it lighter and easier to carry. I assume it is strong due to the security ratings. It’s sometimes harder to position the bike to lock it because the lock is smaller, but I think it is worth it because it is lighter.

One of the toughest U-locks and manageable weight @ 3 lbs.
Great resistance to bolt cutters and battery-operated saws for a 3-lb lock. Also, the holder allowing it to attach to the bike frame works very well.
