Very decent sandbag and none of the issues mentioned by others

Ordered this sandbag a couple of weeks ago, received it promptly and so far I am very happy with it. So let me first address the two main issues listed by other reviewers. 1. Maximum weight in the weight bags and leakage: When something refers to "sand", they usually mean real sand, as in construction or last resort - beach sand. It would have never occurred to me to use child play sand or moon sand or whatnot, as first they are not exactly sand, and secondly, they are more expensive anyways. Used construction sand and filled each bag to slightly less than 10lbs, but in the end when all weight bags were fitted inside the sandbag, the total weight was exactly 40lbs/18kg, as indicated on the box. So, yeah - you can do it. And so far - no sand leaks, although I threw the sandbag around plenty of times. 2. Fitting the weight bags inside the sandbag - it is difficult at first, I placed the in a zig-zag manner with the weight bags enclosures towards the centre of the bag and after a few minutes of struggle I zipped it up. However after using it a few days, the sand settled (or rather compressed) and now there is even room to spare or even add more stuff inside - I am pretty sure I can fit a fifth weight bag inside. I am planning to put some cloth inside to make it bulkier and more gentle to the shoulders when I do shoulder press, power clean, etc. I think that removing the weight bags is even possible during training, although I wouldn't do that myself as the weight is Ok as it is for me. Now, two minor worries - first, it is a bit light for some exercises - I would've wished it to be a tad larger and carry more weight - perhaps up to 60-70lbs, but for its compact size it is surprisingly heavy. Secondly, when doing the swing (sort of like kettlebell swing) I can hear one of the handles giving away very slightly if I put more explosiveness in the motion - it has not torn up yet but it feels like a possibility. Other than that, it is very useful and decent quality sandbag I am hope I will use it for at least a few years, as it allows some exercises that are quite dangerous with regular dumbbells or kettlebells. Perhaps a lady version for my wife with less total weight would be a good future idea (I know we can use only two weight bags but a smaller version would be better, I guess).

It is a Sandbag

May 2019 Here it is a few years later and the bag is still working although showing some wear. I have settled on using two 1 gallon size ziplocks in each yellow bag which actually gives me about 10.5 to 11 pounds per yellow bag. This allow me to adjust my weight in 5 pound increments if needed and keeps the sand out of my eyes and carpet when forced indoors. Be sure to exclude all of the air from each baggie before sealing. Place a baggie in the bottom of the yellow bag and shake vigorously, then add the second baggie and shake vigorously followed by easily folding over the top and sealing the yellow bag with the Velcro strips. 12/24/2013 The handles let the big bag shift around and any extra space inside the big bag let's the little bags shift and this is all positive for me. I like the fact that things can shift around causing balancing muscles to react that would not be called into action using barbells, dumbbells, or cables. It leaks sand and that is negative but baggies help that. Use multiple baggies inside the yellow sand bags and you have easy weight adjustment. If you want to fill that empty space where you just removed a sand baggie, use packing peanuts in the same sized baggie you just removed. My real complaint is the lack of a handle located in the center of the long side of the bag to accommodate suitcase or farmer's carries. I can use the end handles for those carries but the bag is really too long and has a tendency to drag as I step over curbs and such. I do use the side handles that are not centered for the carries as this causes unbalance and provokes different muscles to fire up that would probably not react to a balanced load but would really appreciate a centered handle as well to relieve stress on the wrist.

Not a 'super' sandbag, more like super sand-faucet

I am a fitness facility owner, and an experienced personal trainer. I bought this product along with other similar items based on advertised versatility and praising reviews. This is hopefully the review you need to get the whole story you're looking for; I wish I could have heard what I'm about to share with you... The other reviews with 4-5 stars must be based on initial impressions/excitement (a flaw in the ratings system overall). This is our experience with the product during the couple weeks of (attempted) use, up to the time we had no choice but to return it. I've been a steady buyer of everything amazon since the late 90s, and I may have made one or two other returns ever. #1. The individual bags, that are supposed to hold the sand, leak sand steadily. I don't mean one or two of the bags, as if maybe there's a defect- they all leaked sand along every seam of every bag. This is the -seam- of the bag, mind you, not the closure. So I took the idea of contributing reviewers and duct-taped the crap out of it... but it could only hold back the flow of sand for so long. You may be wondering if I must be putting the product through some crazy high-impact routine, but no, it was used basically as a substitute for a bodybar by my clients, a few times, and without any slamming exercises. #2. I actually UNDERfilled the individual inner bags, yet like other reviewers, we had little success getting all four bags into the outer shell. What makes this product supposedly versatile is ability to change it's weight load. It's time-consuming and impractical, if not impossible, to change the weight during a workout. #3. The outer shell bag. Take a nice look at the photos provided my the manufacturer. See how the bag looks nice and full, puffy, and solid... well you know how people joke about how fast food burgers look in ads compared with how they look in reality? This is sadly the case here too. Sure, it's a sandbag, but those shots are designed to look deceivingly different than the saggy, lumpy sack which it is. Picture a regular duffel bag with 2 large books in it. A tad more unwieldy than the version the guy in the pic gets to use. In summary, it's a good idea, but this is a failed prototype- it needs improvement in every area. If SKLZ stands behind their stuff, they will jump on fixing these issues and will probably end up with a good piece of equipment. Right now, you're paying for a heavily flawed beta version.

Great bag at a price point cost.

Exactly what I wanted. Yes there’s better quality versions like Rogue. But thanks to Covid perhaps supplies seem low and most of those brands are made in USA, so here in Canada there are currently fewer options than I hoped. This bag does what I needed, very sturdy, especially the bladders. I did duct tape them but the double Velcro is a solid seal. Handles on each bladder allows them to be used as individual dumbbells. My only critic would be the handles. Their well made. I’d simply prefer more flex in the handle over being a solid piece of plastics. More of a personal preference. Material would only be better if the bag was more burlap army bag style also in my opinion. Otherwise great bag, this my chin up bar and rumble roller are all I need for workouts anywhere I go.

Great bag BUT internal bags burst and seller uncontactable

Great bag BUT the internal sand bags burst after minimal use with sand going everywhere. The stitching just wasn't good enough. The bag itself is great. Funnily enough I have no way of contacting the seller to tell them other than this review, but for any other orders ive placed there remains the option to contact the seller...makes me think theyre hiding. Bag 5 star - internal bags and ability to contact the seller 1 star.

Does the job

Decent price. I actually got the bag out to 50lbs, might have been the sand I was using. Even still the bag didn't fill out fully, but that's fine. I've used it everyday since I got it and the handles and stitching have held up so far, and I'm not gentle with the bag. Overall good purchase.

Great kit

Since buying this item I've not had to use half of my the weights that I bought, the bags very strong and quite heavy when all four bags are full with sand. You can do loads of seperate exercises with it not just the ones that come to mind, but go online and have a look ands theres loads of youtube videos. Im faster stronger fitter and have more time to dedicate to my workouts because the bags so versatile.

Great addition to the gym. After a few months of use the handles and material seems to be holding up. I would recommend this brand. Cheers
