Seems like they’ve resolved the issues others in the reviews were having with the hardware.. the screw that holds the two pieces together seats properly and does not scratch the kayaks. The screws that came with it did not break or shear (though if I had to guess some of these at home diyers probably forgot to drill pilots which is why they probably broke and bent screws) They hold our 8ft kayaks perfectly and make the garage look much neater than when we had them standing upright, and now no chance of them getting knocked over. I did not use the anchors, not something I like to chance.. just screwed on side of each hook directly into the studs.

Seriously impressed

Holds a 14' Old Town tandem otter, which also weighs over 80lbs. It was super easy to install, and everything was good quality. Even the hardware which I was skeptical of because of some reviews but the screws they sent me were pretty heavy duty. Even the drywall anchors all worked fine without any issues, and I usually have to buy a pack from the hardware store to use instead but not with these. They all worked fine. I screwed the center screws directly into the studs of the garage wall (after drilling pilot holes) and then added the drywall anchors for added support. I don't think you necessarily need the drywall anchors but if you have a heavy kayak like mine, it's good insurance in case something fails. Great product, and really helps with storage space. Will probably buy another set for my other kayak.

Worthy purchase in spite of the cons!!

This product is a solid heavy duty quality product with only a couple of minor issues they should fix...then I will give them 5 stars. Con #1 The male/female connection on the pipe uses screws that are too long. It keeps the two pipes tightly together, but the screws stick out by about 1/4 inch instead of going flush. Con #2 If you have studs to go into, the screws that come with the package are fine. If you need to go into sheet rock, the plastic sheathing for the screw is miserable. If you push the plastic sheath into the sheet rock and the try to add the screw, it forces the plastic sheath to drop behind the sheet rock. Useless. I did find a work around so I didn't need to buy new hardware. I held the sheath with pliers and screwed the screw half way into the sheath before putting it into the sheet rock. Even then, I pushed the screw/sheath combo into the sheet rock only 3/4 way. Then as I tightened the screw, everything went in as it should and held fine. They claim it will hold up to 100 lbs and it does appear that it will. My kayaks are just short of 50 lbs and they appear to hold solidly. For $20 dollars, it is worth the purchase and having to make the little adjustments on your own.

Great fit for thicker white water kayaks A+ for price, install & quality

This item is an A+....easy install, great price and good quality. The looks and grade of the material should have it lasting for may years to come. I had bought two different types of hangers for my kayaks. The RAD Sportz Kayak Wall Hanger was the less expensive of the two, but fit my thick whitewater kayak better then its more expensive counterpart. The RAD Sportz Kayak Wall Hanger does not have paddle hooks beneath like its more expensive competetitor hangers, however due to the thickness of my white water kayaks, the bracket spacing had to be even further apart then my paddles are long...so the paddle hooks can not be utilized anyway.

So happy

Bought two sets to hang up two 12’ kayaks on outside of lake shed wall, one above the other. Cockpits can either face wall or face outward. Super easy to put together and install. I didn’t have any problems with screws stripping or breaking, even using an impact driver to drive screws. However, I did use slightly larger and longer screws than those supplied to go through the two holes in the tubes to go directly into the studs behind the walls. That alone made it solid enough to hang kayaks with the other screws through the metal plates providing insurance. Seems very solid. Highly recommend.

Good for the price, but there are a couple of issues.....

These were inexpensive and did the job. The hangers protect the hull with a nice layer of firm rubber foam over the metal , although note my comments about the risk of scratching the hull below. I bought 2 pairs of these hangers and use them to store 2 kayaks, one above the other in an outside garage. I had to choose where I placed the hangers carefully as each hanger comes in two pieces, a top half and the bottom half. There is a screw that joins these 2 pieces and it sticks out. If you place the hangers too close to the middle of the boat, the screw can scratch the hull, so make sure you experiment with how the hanger fits your boats hull, before attaching them to the wall. In my case I have 12.5' Kayaks, and I placed the hangers 18" in from each end. The manufacturing quality is not great, and the plates that are screwed to the wall were not aligned to each other, i.e. once I'd screwed the bottom plate to the wall, the top plate was twisted and not flush. However it did come flush once I drove the screws in. I didn't use the screws they provided, rather I used 1/4" x 1.5" lag bolts into a piece of 2x4. Overall, they do the job at a good price.

Great - well made, easy to install

Unlike some reviewers used screws included for post holes and added 4 black lag bolts to the side flanges per hook. Make sure you drill pilot holes. Mounted to 4x4 and very secure. Similar to other products and a bit cheaper. Delivery was a couple of days. Have 2 sets with 2 kayaks mounted - perfect solution.

I bought two sets of these and they are exactly what I needed. Quality is great and I had no problem with the hardware included. These are a great space saver and I highly recommend
