New boating gadget

keeps the charts inline

When I would go out crabbing or shrimping and not moving, the GPS on my Garmin chart plotter would spin the charts until I start moving again. This was a great alternative than a expensive flex compass that I use in my big boat. I put this on a Garmin 7600 series chart plotter in my 24 foot Hewes Craft. just needed to add A NEMA 2000 back bone and within a few minutes and easy set up. It keeps the charts pointing the right direction at all times. Jerry

Boat icon matches heading now!!

Put this on and calibrated it with my garmin!! No longer waiting for GPS to show me which way my bow is pointed on the chart!! Way easier to stay on wrecks while fishing offshore!! Perfect and well needed addition!!

Don’t buy if you have an older GPS map not listed

Returned this sensor after trying to use it. While it worked, I found that it was out of calibration every time I turned my GPS on. I ended up taking one mounting screw out so I could rotate it back and forth to recalibrate. I had to give up after 4-5 times. It was clear that it would never hold a manually adjusted calibration correctly. I had it mounted in a decent spot with no other metal to interfere with it. I was using an older Garmin 4212. It was not on the list of comparable units. It did not have the ability to calibrate itself thru software. It did work for its intended purpose to keep my GPS map orientated correctly while the boat was stationary. If you have a GPS that’s on the compatible list I would suspect it will work great. Don’t bother buying if you do not have a GPS listed and thought you could manually add use.

Works Great!

Before installing the SteadyCast unit my boat icon on my Garmin Echomap UHD would not show the correct orientation on the screen. After it was installed and calibrated the issue was fixed. It’s a very simple straight forward install.
