Better than a push spreader

It was hard for me to keep up the fast pace of walking behind a push spreader so I took to dipping in and hand spreading fertilizer, weeder, and grubkiller on the lawn. This handheld spreader spreads a wide area evenly and is fairly lightweight, even when full. The only problem I see is that you may end up with the stuff on your pantlegs as you're walking.

Actually much better than a crank spreader. Makes spreading much easier and therefore quicker. The shelf below the rotating spreading disc tends to collect the material being spread. Then when you stop it all falls out in one area. This could potentially kill the grass in that area due to the large concentration of material. Trying to control this is an annoyance. However i still like the ease at which the spreader works.

Perfect for spreading small 1lb amounts of pre-emergent in small yard

Used the Scotts Wizz Spreader for the first time today putting down some pre-emergent onto my lawn. I like that the spreader has an opening that can be adjusted in small precise increments. For my small 500sqft front lawn, I needed to spread just 1lb of pre-emergent. My large push spreader is good for when I'm laying down 10lbs of Milorganite. But when it's only 1lb, the small handheld Wizz spreader is the best tool for me. Not sure why people are giving it negative reviews. User error? Use fresh alkaline batteries. Not rechargables. Dry, clump-free, uniform size pellets/granules. You should have no issues. NOT fine powder, or chunky ice melt. One button on the trigger. Walk at a normal, brisk pace. Give it a slight shake every once in a while. And you're golden. This blows away the hand crank model.

Scotts Wizz Spreads: No pushing

The Scotts Wizz Spreader has a spread dial that many seed companies recommend while using the product. Set the dial, squeeze the gentle trigger, and walk your pattern(s) to dispense seed with nearly no effort. The spreader is battery-operated and I have seeded my lawn with two patterns without worrying about the power. The device is light-weight, and ergonomic (for my standards) -I held mine in one hand by my side, and the seed flowed out of the hopper flawlessly.

Only for very small yards

The motor over heats and drains the battery in 15 minutes. Small court yards only. Buy the manual model. Hope this helps. BTW: I dropped in the trash. Fertilizer is too expensive to waste.

Does the job

Product works as designed. Good quality. Only had one problem as I put out 50 lbs of fertilizer. Switch got stuck in the on position somehow but eventually cut off. No problems since.

Works great

I only bought this because of the Amazon return policy. Now you would have to fight me for it. It works well, is easy to use and I can do my lawn in under 20 minutes. Best of all, it fits on a shelf and doesn't eat up a ton of floor space in the garage

Not for a First Time user

Machine was delivered as promised and on time. Set up of the spreader is very much Guess work unless using Scotts own fertiliser brands which apparently have the setting on the packaging. I have a reasonable knowledge of spreaders which helped me with the set up. But be very careful if you are new to Lawn care . Best method would be calculate the exact area of grass and from there measure out the correct amount of fertiliser . I used a setting slightly lower than Recommended and covered the lawn in two directions.......fingers crossed

Brilliant time and labour saving device

Used this to spread iron sulphate on my field to kill moss. Saved so much time! Then 2 weeks later I used it to spread grass seed on said field. Easy to use and works a treat. Keep a spare set of batteries as it used them fast.

Corrosion Proof Easy to Use

Lawn Spreader for lawn treatment. Will also be great for spreading rock salt on an icy drive. Grading for settings are somewhat ambiguous though.
