It Really Works!!

I searched, it seems, forever to find a solution for our 3yo 70 lb. Lab to get up on our very high bed without continually lifting her and straining our (well, mine!) backs. I chose this one because of the positive reviews, gradual and sturdy incline, flat platform at the top and affordability. My husband put it together with ease in less than an hour...it is heavy, so I knew that I wouldn't be moving it around. We put this on one side of the bed, leaving about a 12" space to the wall which made it less scary for her without a railing. I stood in that space to train so she would come up to me while being reassured but staying very close to her either petting her, tapping the ramp with treats on it to coax her before moving a little further so she'd do it on her own. Our girl was skeptical, for sure, at first but with a calming voice, lots of praise and either chicken or beef to coax and reward her (she gets that anyway), she made progressive baby steps as she tested it. It took only a few days! I let her go as far as she was comfortable each time and didn't force her. Just praise and treats! Then repeat same thing several hours later. For the next couple of days, I still had to use some treats but less of them as she went up the ramp on her own a little further each time. Then, total SUCCESS!! And, tons of praise when she was on the bed! She doesn't even go all the way to the flat platform at the top of the ramp...just far enough where she can climb up onto the bed with ease. It hasn't been long and she goes up this (and sometimes down it if she doesn't jump off the bed) all by herself without either of us even being in the room many times a day. The width is good although I feel like it could be maybe several inches wider, but it's working. I think the proximity to the wall aids in sort of a visual railing. I read about "slippery carpet" and can see why some feel that it is an issue. So far, our girl isn't experiencing that but I think, in time, it could be something that we may have to address. It is rather thin. I didn't want to add/introduce something different to it at this point when it's working as is. And, maybe it won't be an issue. If it becomes one, we can easily remedy it and it wasn't a deal breaker. We keep her nails trimmed once a month so I think that will help that she won't snag it or tear it in anyway. We are both very happy with this product and I just figured that the initial cost is well worth it if it protects her from any injuries and us as well. She is a happy pup and loves snoozing on our bed with a big window for her to look out while she's on it. I wasn't happy about having a ramp in our room, but where it is located, it is unobtrusive and I can easily slide it over on our wood floors (it could easily be moved on carpet/rug as well) to either make the bed or change sheets. I looked heavily into a folding ramp, but decided that that, too, would be heavy and cumbersome defeating the purpose of straining our back. Love this so far and highly recommend!

Exactly what I needed

This ramp is very sturdy and will work for my puppy now as well as in the future. My bed is very high and I don't want him to have to jump up or down. He can go up and down by himself and I do not need to lift him. Thank you for a great product!

This is large and heavy. Very strong.

Our only problem was that our 14-year-old Chocolate Lab found the carpeting too slippery for his weak back legs. It's a solid product for younger dogs of any size. Be aware that the package/product is quite heavy.

Nice but needs side rails

Nice sturdy ramp. Heavy weight keeps it from moving when used, but also makes it a bit awkward to move. Bought for my 12 year old dachshund and having side rails would help keep him from jumping instead of cruising all the way up the ramp. Solved the problem with a dog bed and cardboard boxes. When he gets more used to the ramp, side rails to the top platform would be helpful to prevent spine injury or IVDD. Assembly is not easy and takes time as well. I am disabled and had someone else assemble. It took them about 2 hours.

For big dogs: purchase grip tape separately

My 65lb husky Aussie mix was hesitant to use the ramp due to the slippery carpet. She would run instead of walk when coaxed. After buying anti-slip tape and applying it, she can now slowly walk but still refuses to use the ramp properly as it’ll wobble when she tries to climb down. I may need to return this and get a stair for the bed instead.

Dedicate Space For It and Add Foam Shelf Liner

The ramp is somewhat heavy and not designed to be moved around, so be prepared to figure out how to rearrange your bedroom to accommodate this permanent structure. Once that's done, I suggest making the ramp usable, as my 50lb Staffy had a difficult time walking up the incline and she refused to go down. I read another reviewer recommended using a foam shelf liner, so I gave it a try because it's simply too steep with the slick carpet. I bought a $10 staple gun to secure the liner in place - it was very easy to do (alternatively you can use binder clips). Now my dog can slowly go up AND down the ramp with confidence. It would have been nice not to make modifications, but making them made all the difference in the world.

Great product...didn't work in our situation.

I want to start off by saying that if you have a pet that is having trouble with strength in their back legs, this might not be the right solution. My cat has neuropathy in his back legs. He did not have enough strength to walk up the ramp more than a foot and he ended up sliding back. For an animal with mild arthritis or a furry friend that is getting older and just slowing down, this would probably work very well. I think other reviewers have mentioned this, but even with the carpet, the surface is a little slippery. Easy to put together.

Dog Ramp

I purchased this ramp mostly for my 8 year old English bulldog. The ramp is sturdy and it’s wide enough for him to use. However, the carpet is extremely slippery. He has an extremely hard time getting up and down due to sliding. My other dogs are a little lighter so they don’t have any issues, but where I purchased this for my bulldog I’m a little disappointed. UPDATE: Due to the slipperiness of the carpet, we added some rubber strips along the ramp to give our dog something to grip when going up and down. For an extra cost of around $20 and a little extra work, it definitely helped! He doesn’t have as much trouble and seems to go to the ramp on his own without any encouragement from us. If you’re purchasing this ramp and have an English bulldog, you may have to resort to a similar solution.

Reduced price

I purchased this item at a reduced price due to it being return by another buyer. It came in two boxes due to the original box having a hole. All the main pieces were in the box but all the hardware was loose in the box. Only after unit was put together did I find two missing washers in the original box. I understand the reduced price was enticing but I think it would have taken 5 mins to put the hardware in a bag and not leave it scattered. The ramp itself once put together is sturdy and a better height than most pet stairs. Plus for my older dog who is partially blind with poor depth perception it was a better option

Worth every penny!

I ordered this ramp for my senior dog who was having trouble navigating the doggy steps onto the bed. I read the reviews prior to ordering - some mentioned the carpet was slippery and some complained that the bolts didn’t line up very well with the pre-drilled holes. I had no trouble putting it together…just don’t tighten any bolts until they’re all put in loosely. My dog is around 70 pounds and doesn’t have any trouble with the carpet. I did put some non-slip material under the front and back just so it didn’t slide on my vinyl flooring. Great product for older dogs with joint issues!

Parfait!

Je suis satisfaite à 100 %. La rampe est facile à assembler, elle est belle, solide et la grandeur est idéale. Mon chien n'a pas eu peur du tout de l'utiliser. Petite suggestion d'amélioration : Ajouter des éléments antidérapant sous les pattes de la rampe, car elle glisse sur le bois franc. Ce n'est rien de dramatique, mais cela éviterait de devoir le faire soi-même. Je recommande cette rampe à tous les parents d'animaux !!! Elle vaut largement le prix.

Amazing Height & Easy to Assemble !!

We were worried that all the ramps online were not going to be tall enough, or were going to be too steep.. As well, the prior reviews said there were some issues with the holes.. We can confirm this is not true ! So easy to assemble, perfect height and not steep ! As well, our chihuahuas take some time getting used to new things in our home, but they learned how to use this right away ! Both of our chihuahuas can easily get up and down, and we don’t have to break our backs every time now. One chihuahua is 6 lbs and the other is 11 lbs. Not slippery, so far so good. Love this product! So happy we bought it.
