An Effective and Affordable Option for At-Home Fitness
I am normally not one to leave written reviews, but there are a few things that I feel must be addressed given the amount of negative reviews. 1) The build quality is just fine. The construction is sturdy; the assembly is all metal tubing, including the support that goes over the top of your doorframe. It does move a bit when applying my 170lbs of bodyweight, but that is definitely due to the foam padding compressing against my doorframe. 2)The product was true to the measurements provided. MEASURE THE WIDTH OF YOUR DOOR! Every review section for one of these type of pull-up bars are inevitably filled with people who don't take the time to measure anything first, and I used to be one of those people. My door has a with of 36in. and I needed a replacement for my SPRI "premium" pullup bar, which worked fine, but was just barely wide enough to fit. This ProsourceFit bar was true to the 41 in. width that was stated and it fits perfectly in my door with plenty of clearance. If this bar is not wide enough for you, you may have an unusually wide door. I would say it can fit your door if the opening is up to 38in. wide, any more and I'd be a little nervous. 3) This product includes two optional j-brackets to help secure the bar to the top of your doorframe. They are NOT meant to take the full load of your bodyweight and one look at the provided wall anchors and screws should tell you that (Don't be stupid like the guy in that one video review above, he doesn't even have the right type of doorframe for this bar). These are only intended to help keep the bar from slipping away from the door if you so choose to use them. Personally, I don't find them necessary. If you are okay with drilling these into your wall, you might as well get a full-blown wall-mounted bar for a bit more money. 4) Understand that these types of pull-up bars WILL damage your doorframe and the wall above your door, unless you add some additional protection. Yes, all of them. This kind of foam grip material is not enough even though ProsourceFit has provided a generous amount of padding. With the amount of force even my 170lbs frame exerts there will inevitably be some damage. Either prepare to patch it up in the future, or use some towels as others have mentioned. 5) Remember what these bars are intended for. They are designed as a cheap and affordable at-home option for bodyweight resistance training, controlled movement. They are inherently not as secure as a free-standing or wall-mounted bar. Make sure the bar is securely hooked on top of your door, keep the force of your movement down/ forward and you will be fine (this is why kipping is a no-no on these). Think before you act, and you won't end up on a gym fails compilation. 6) I don't ever recommend using these types of bars as push-up handles or dip bars as advertised but it can work. I also don't really use the additional grips to often, but sometimes I do hammer-grip pull-ups. I highly recommend getting a set of gymnastics rings to help fill these roles. Rings work just fine on this bar and they come in real handy for assistance work too. They helped me work up to my first full range pull-ups 3 years ago and now they are helping me on the way to the one-arm pull-up, one-arm push-up, and pistol squat. They are also useful for the support hold and L-sit. With only a bar and rings I've seen great results. So, given all the above points, I would definitely recommend this bar (along with a pair of rings). It was worth the money. Don't be dissuaded by the negative reviews, the 4.5 star average is that way for a reason. If you're looking for a pull-up bar that fits a wider door frame this is it.

Good quality
It was packaged well and it was easy to put together. I am 210 and my doorframe held up without it being secured to the wall by screws. I'm looking forward to getting a lot of use out of it.

Works great for small-dog doggie diabetes injections and nail trimming
My diabetic Chiweenie dog won't stand still for insulin injections, so I suspend her in mid-air in my bathroom door opening using this rod and a small harness and straps/hooks from the Doggie Lift store. I originally tried the Doggie Lift bar, but it was too large and prevented my bathroom door from closing. That is a great system if you have a large dog, but for a tiny dog, this pull-up bar is awesome because you can open and close the door even with this bar in the door frame! It was a snap to install, holds firmly, and has worked miracles for me.

better than the rest
easy to assembly if you take your time and read instructions, sturdy but not solid. only negative thing i found is that the black foam rubs off on my white door frame, i wrapped those areas with a white was cloth and solved that issue.

Sturdy
I've had this for about six months now and I've used it on just about every door way in my house its pretty damn sturdy for being a few bolts that's holding it together, it was super simple to set up the only thing I've had to do is with regular use and it getting a little tossed around when i put it away was retightening the bolts otherwise its a 10/10.

Great little bar
Works completely fine I've been using it for a couple months now. No problems, easy to assemble and everything. The little wrench that comes with it is a little to big though so its kinda awkward getting it to tighten. If you're looking at the bolt side ways like this | | you can put the wrench diagonal when you tighten it like this |/| (the diagonal line is the wrench). That's how I got it to tighten. Otherwise it will spin and you'll round out the bolt

Do you even lift yourself, brah?
•• Comparable Products I've Used •• I used to have aj/fit Deluxe Doorway Pull-Up Bar , which is one of Amazon's best sellers, and it worked great for years. It stuck really well, but it had a couple of issues. First, it doesn't have a variety of grip locations; the black handhold is where the black handhold is. It's a one size-fits all approach. Secondly, it fit TIGHTLY against the mounting frame. It has rubber caps on either side to prevent damage (in theory). In my first apartment, it left massive black circles that were extremely hard to clean off. I scrubbed those suckers forever, and luckily my landlord let it slide. Then, in the basement suite I moved to, it actually crunched into the wall. I still used it like that, knowing that one day I'd have to repair the damage. A few years later, I moved again, and I was determined to bring it with me. This time, the rubber cap fell out because the adhesive affixing it to the bar had finally worn away. I lost it in the move. Finally, I decided, it was time for something a little less... brutal. •• What I Like •• I really love the ProSource. It handles my weight effortlessly (145lbs) and has a variety of gripping points. I particularly enjoy the wide U-grips for deep, upper pec activation. The point is, there's a grip for anything. I even toss a sheet over it to grip for vertical rows. It's exceptionally diverse. The instructions are mildly unintuitive, but they're easy to figure out. Basically, I recommend looking at the instructions and just deciding on the order that makes sense. As long as you're not snapping the wrong pieces together, you'll get it done without issue. It took me about 5-10 minutes to put together. No biggy. It sits on my new door frame like a champ. •• What I Dislike •• As other reviewers have stated, the heads of the screws that sit on top of your door frame are slightly pushed out. This means they'll press into the wall when you're hanging your weight. That is a silly design flaw indeed, but it's SUPER EASY to FIX. All you have to do is place something thick enough behind the screws. I'll show you what I mean in the pictures at the bottom of the review. I literally took the box the ProSource came in, sliced it up into little squares, and placed them behind the screws. I didn't have to purchase any additional stuff to do it... no tape, no nothing, and again, it took me around 2 minutes to concoct. Don't let that stop you from buying this thing. If you have a standard door frame it'll fit on, you're going to be very happy with it. •• Conclusion •• If I had to buy it again, I would. I don't see any true cons with this thing. The build quality is great and easily rivals the J/Fit I had previously. Setting it up and installing it is easy. And if you take 2 minutes to cut up some cardboard, you won't have screw-head-holes above your beautiful door frame. If you want more protection, pad the screws with some fat tape before placing the cardboard (or whatever). You could even use socks or small towels instead of cardboard. Happy working out, broseph or brodette. 05/08/2017 Update: Been using it for a few months now. Still thrilled. The cardboard hasn't shifted one bit. 01/05/2018 Update: We're officially in the new year! Cardboard hasn't shifted. I have zero complaints. 08/12/2019 Update: No changes. No complaints. One addition! I recently hung rings over the bar. It holds perfectly solid. Been using them for a few months now. I still love and appreciate the versatility of this door-bar. Rings are "Femor gym rings" from Amazon. I've also reviewed them.

Excellent product!
This product is the same one as the P90X one, except only half the price. It works very well. The handles are comfortable. There is a variety of hand-holds. It was easy to assemble, also. Having this bar around means that I put in more regular practice, and I've seen the difference in the results after only a few weeks. I would suggest, as others have, purchasing some pads. Some door widths result in damage to the sides of the door frame. I have mine mounted with the included bracket at the top, so I feel pretty good about that. The damage is caused by the sides. There are pads included, but they go on bars which, for my door, are too far wide to be effective.

Arrived quickly
I am a 57 year old woman and I was able to assemble and install this product by myself. It would not work on the planned door location because the door frame depth was too deep ( note this measurement could matter but is not addressed in product description) but if fit perfectly and sturdily on my kitchen/dining room door opening with no door and frame is on the kitchen side. It is an impressive piece of equipment for the price that will not destroy my walls as with other bar past experience. Easily removeable and such a versatile unit, use with resistance bands if trying to build your way up to pullup.

i don't know how a chin up bar could be better.
this works really well. it comes with the tools and parts needed to assemble it, as well as brackets and hardware to permanently mount it on the wall which you would need a drill and screwdriver for, but you don't need to go that far and can mount it on the door frame. i weigh 205ish and when i get on this there is a tiny bit of give but it holds and is pretty solid, if this setup does collapse one day, i expect it will be from my misuse or shoddy door frame. there are a few grips and positions you can put your hands in to do pull ups and chin ups. it comes with directions for doing the exercises, as well as a few alternate uses, such as push ups etc. it was easy to assemble, though a bit tricky to get some holes to line up but i persevered.
