My cap was leaking and I almost bought a whole new soap dispenser thing and then I said let me try the cap first for the rinse aid. Put the new cap on fits perfect and no leaks!!!! Model # DU1100XTPBA

Perfect Replacement for Whirlpool Dispenser Caps that fall out during washing and comit harikari on the bottom heating element.
Compared to the OEM dispenser cap that originally came with the Whirlpool Dishwasher, this replacement OEM part actually stays locked in place and does the job it was intended to do. The original cap always fell out from day one (Whirlpool would NOT replace it - they wanted to charge twice the amount +tax of what is being offered here). My original cap finally fell off during a wash cycle and melted itself on the bottom heating coil. For a small part, yes, it is way too expensive for a simple plastic cap. BUT, like automotive parts, this is how the appliance aftermarket makes money. It fits, it works, and hopefully you won't need another for 5 years. The plastic on these caps do shrink and get loose after being exposed to years of washings, especially if you use high heat sani rinses all the time. So you should have one of these on hand for a spare.

Perfect fit!
Some of the reviews of other sites selling these rinse dispenser caps have complaints that the cap doesn't fit. This cap fits my Whirlpool Gold Quiet Partner III dishwasher perfectly, and appears to be a genuine Whirlpool product. It is about $10 lower in price than the same item on the manufacturer's website. I'm really pleased and thankful that I checked Amazon before spending a larger sum of money elsewhere.

Quite Spiffy
Used this useful little cap twice to fix two different dishwashers, Unfortunately it didn't really "fix" the first one as it kept not fitting into the hole I thought it was made for. Hmmm .... I held onto it and LO and BEHOLD it matched a different dishwasher perfectly. SCORE!! It keeps that blue fluid in so stinkin well I was almost afraid the dishwasher would have a hernia from trying to push that squeaky new plug out like it had the other. Thankfully dishwasher is safe and I have now named it "The Brave Little Dishwasher That Works But Is Trying To Be Ornery" Ah well, So goes it for the life of an amateur appliance parts requisition'ist. Let this be a lesson to anyone who dares to think that a little bluish grey cap can fix all their problems, because it can. I pulled the metaphorical thorn from the dishwasher and I became like Androcles and gained a new friend.

Whirlpool living up to their typical standard
I bought a house that has a Whirlpool dishwasher in it that uses this rinse aid cap. Just like every other Whirlpool appliance I have experience with, the dishwasher's performance is mediocre, so I ran a few loads of dishes with the Sani-Rinse option enabled to see if it would improve the thoroughness of the rinse cycle. After running a few a loads this way, the rinse aid cap started to leak it's contents down the door of the dishwasher between loads. Since the Sani-Rinse option apparently uses hotter water, I assumed the hotter water had caused the plastic in the old cap to warp or shrink, so I ordered this replacement cap. I paid this item's ridiculous price because it was a legit part, and it came packaged in a bag that was labeled Whirlpool. It did indeed stop the leaking... ...for 10 months. Now this cap is also leaking, even though I haven't again used the Sani-Rinse option. Perhaps that means that the Sani-Rinse option warped the plastic in the door, rather than the plastic in the cap? Who knows, your guess is as good as mine. Regardless, in my experience this kind of performance is par for the course for Whirlpool, and is just further justification for why I will never voluntarily buy a Whirlpool appliance. UPDATE: I've used Earth Friendly Product's WaveJet rinse aid for years, and is what I was using for the entirety of my experience in my review. However, I recently saw that Lemi Shine had introduced a rinse aid, so I got a bottle of it to try. I've now run two loads of dishes through my dishwasher using the Lemi Shine rinse aid, and it hasn't leaked out. So I've upped my review for the dispenser cap by one star, since it apparently doesn't completely suck. At least not yet...

We noticed a slight burning smell coming from the dishwasher, and I eventually found the dispenser cap nestled against the heating element strap...it was hard to see until I knew what I was looking for. Amazon is always the first place I look, no matter how insignificant the item, and I found this cap. It looked the same as mine, but did not list compatibility info. I took down the item number, and went to Sears with the model number of my dishwasher, to see if they could check it out for me. Three guys standing together doing nothing...said they don't carry the caps, which I knew, and gave me a phone number to call. Yeah, like I'm going to call and be put on hold for ???...I couldn't believe it. So, came home and bought this, received it the next day, and it was the perfect replacement! Amazon to the rescue! Again!

Perfect replacement for my prior dispenser cap
The original that came with our dishwasher got warped and ruined when the kids ran the dishwasher and forgot to screw it on. Only wish I had thought to buy this replacement months earlier. Nothing at all wrong with it. Just do your homework and ensure you get the right cap for your machine.
