Switch works well but the lever is made of cheap plastic
I purchased this switch after the old one in my dryer snapped in half and stopped working. The switch arrived quickly and, best of all, is way cheaper than hiring someone to come fix it. You can easily look up an online video of how to replace the switch yourself. The pros: The switch has worked so far, my dryer has been returned to normal function. After all, that's what it's for. The cons: The lever which activates the switch seems to jut out fairly far, leaving itself somewhat vulnerable to wear and tear. Coupled with the fact that the lever is made out of cheap plastic makes me severely doubt that it will last a very long time. With as cheap as these are, I am personally ok with replacing them every few years. However a metal switch or a switch that does not jut out so far would be much better. The reason it has such a high rating is because it has worked well so far (my fears are only speculative) and it was cheap. I will return and change the review if the product breaks.

Works like a charm and feels like good quality
Some time ago, I started having trouble with my dryer....would continue to operate with the door open, sometimes wouldn't start at all, etc. Finally, it quit. I'd investigated just buying new but then in my research found that it could be this simple part. I decided to try the fix (did the same thing a couple years ago with my washer and saved myself several hundred dollars by buying a $6 part!). Part arrived ahead of schedule and with a couple views of a youtube instructional video, I was able to fix the dryer myself. Works like a charm and feels like good quality. If I get a couple more years out of this dryer, I'll be ecstatic, particularly because this part was less than $10!!

works fine but a bit concerned long term
for the price you can't pass on this...it looked exactly like the switch i was replacing in my kenmore elite dryer that was broken....after installation it didn't work....i noticed that the switch wouldn't engage (you can hear it click when engaged) with the door closing, or pushing with your finger)....I loosened the screws and pushed it towards the door as far as i could, and then retightened them....that worked, but makes me nervous that it might fail some day (has worked for 2 weeks so far no preoblem)....If it does stop i can drill out the screw holes a bit and move it more, but hopefully won't have to. for the price i would have bought two for a spare, but amazon doubled the shipping which was 8 bucks, so settled for one...

10yrsvold old whirlpool dryer.
Exactly what I needed to replace. My dryer is working again like it is suppose to. Found two YouTube video to show me how to remove the top lid and access the switch. Very simple and quick. My dryer is 10yrsvold and I did a simple clean out of lint dust hoses and duct 5yrs ago as recommended by a repair guy who fixed my washing machine. That was a 130.00 that the part only costed 21.00 dollars.

problem solved
our dryer had stopped working , no sounds ,no movement , nothing . so i searched some youtube videos and most were pointing towards this door switch or the cycling thermostat and fuse being the issue . so i tried replacing fuse and thermostat first because they were easier to get to and still nothing , then i swapped in the new door switch and sure enough that was the problem .

Fixed the problem and saved me lots of money.
As the other reviewers have noted, this switch is a great replacement for part #3406104. The wires are, indeed, a little shorter but this is actually a good thing. I screwed in the switch and it worked like a charm. The only challenge was opening the top of the dryer but if you google "open the top of a whirlpool dryer" you will find a cool video on YouTube by an Englishman that will tell you exactly how to do it. The switch arrived in only two days! Excellent customer service. Unheard of price. Perfect switch and outstanding reviews: It doesn't get much better than this! Thank you!

Easy to install, did not need a service person.
This was just what we needed to get our dryer running again. Hardest part of the install (besides cleaning behind the dryer) was to release the lid from those clips in front in order to raise it up. The part just plugged right in.

Easy for do-it-yourselfer
Received part. Replaced part. Dryer works. I'm just less than thrilled to see that most of my dryer seems to be plastic. Guess I'll be getting more replacement parts in the future, which is probably the whole point of the cheap bits and pieces.
