Great machine

Love my new sewing machine! It sews very nicely. It does so many different stitches, it threads the needle, it has multiple sewing speeds or allows foot pedal use, there's so many accessories, the instructional video and book made it easy to learn the machine...it's so worth the price.

Good machine for beginners to advance sewers

Purchased for my step daughter who likes to design her own things and she loves it. We were going to share the machine, but I decided to give her this, since she'll put it to better use than I will. I bought one that's not as complicated or I should say doesn't have as many built-in stitches. For the price you can't go wrong with this machine. It does a lot.

Excellent for intermediate and experienced seamstress

I have a semi industrial brother and bought this machine mostly because I needed to make buttonholes for shirts, and also needed the zigzag stitch for lingerie. It’s nice that it comes with multiple stitches and even has the option of embroidering letters. I will be using this feature a lot for tags :). It is quiet, and pretty sturdy. It doesn’t move a lot. I can already tell it won’t sew on very thick material as the space between the presser foot and the feed dogs will not allow anything too thick in. That’s fine because you should not be sewing heavy duty materials with a home sewing machine anyway, although you might succeed if using the right needle and there are not many overlapping seams on your way. I loved the instructions manual. Honestly I feel like brother never disappoints when it comes to home sewing machines. For the price, I’m really pleased. I would definitely recommend this machine if you are looking for something affordable that can take most light and medium weight fabrics. Extra points for the blind stitch foot! I really appreciate not having to sew blinds by hand.

Great portable machine

I have a very expensive Brother sewing machine, but need one that was light weight for our motor coach. This is a great little machine for piecing and stitching. It is easy to use. The one thing that does not work well is the needle threader. After just a few uses it twisted and is no longer functional. Plus it was awkward to use.

Had to get it serviced

Bought it Feb. 17th. Got it several days later. By March 28th. It stopped working. Thread breaks underneath the plate and dogfeed wont go up order down. Now I have to get the m yepachine serviced. Not happy at all. No one including Brother will honor warranty because I didn't buy it from them!!!

Can do pretty heavy sewing.

I've only been using this machine for a week, so can't address its durability. It certainly is up to tough sewing situations. I've made a few bowl cozies which require topstitch sewing through 4 layers of batting and 4 layers of fabric and it never hesitated. The fancy stitches worked well when I tried them out just for fun. The self threading mechanism is better than on my previous Brother models.

Great machine, extremely durable, very pleased

I am a beginner at sewing, i somewhat easily set it up some of the directions were just general to their products and different than my machine. I did figure it out, but all the included instructions would have been nice to be specific to this machine or clearer which machine, but i’m just trying to be fair. The stitches are nice, neat and I’ve made several projects. It is easy to thread after you get the hang of it (self threading needle) bobbin is easy to load and pull up, just follow instructions. I packed this and transported it to a weekly class, very durable. My son even knocked the machine off the table and it bounce tested on my wood floors! (I don’t recommend this ????). I look forward to learning the various features!! Definitely recommend this machine!!

Great machine

Been using this for over a year with great success. Use it often and love it- definitely should buy another machine for the heavier fabrics or the 3-4 layers of fabric I sometimes sew. But for 2 ply and regular seeing it’s great!!! Smooth quick adjustable wherever you need it. And super easy to use- do not need to be a seasoned seamstress.

For a beginner, this is a good place to start.

I have a similar machine with more functions as an experienced seamstress. I chose this for my daughter. I was very happy with how it handled and the similarity to my own machine made using this a breeze. There are many, many stitch choices. Trust me, I tested many too for functionality and reliability. Each one proved to deliver as expected. The guide was easy to follow and detailed. There is also video instructions, not reviewed. I gave this machine 5 stars because I feel for the price and functionality, you get your money's worth and more. Sewing can be aggravating with a nasty machine. Smooth sailing and satisfaction found with this unit.

Impressive - Easy to use

Was a bit apprehensive to use, as I haven't sewn in over 25 years. But it came with a CD, and there are plenty of videos on internet on how to use this machine. Very please with it, You get bang for your buck as it is relatively inexpensive. Would recommend for those that are wanting to start sewing and quilting.

Great for beginners and people starting a business !

I am a beginner dressmaker, just starting up my business and this sewing machine has been the MOST helpful tool I’ve purchased in a while. With only one home-ec class under my belt for experience this sewing machine has been EXTREMELY easy for me to use and figure out and has upped my making speed and quality by a lot! My only issue is that it tends to unthread the top of the machine a lot which can be annoying but the automatic threader really makes up for it making it a lot easier. Overall even with the threading issue I’d give a 10/10 I love it !
