Poor quality. I used these about once a week from Dec-Feb.
I tried new batteries. That didn’t fix it. The light stopped working. It’s an led light. I only used the tweezers light about 6 times. I actually had another new set of tweezers, same brand, new in the package (I bought 1 for every family member for Christmas). I swapped batteries. The pair of tweezers I used 1st are still broken. I’m Unsure why. Return denied because I waited too long. But I opened them at Christmas and bought them in nov.

The magnifying glass is in the way
I wanted this for grooming my fiancé ears etc, the glass is hard to position and I wish I’d have noticed the point Is like a needle and not flat on the tweezers.

Not like the older version
I bought these to have one at home like the old one I have at work. Perfect for removing the metal splinters that are so hard to see. They are very close to my older one, but the tip of the tweezer is not quite as fine a point as the older ones. Still work well, but just a little disappointed that the quality slipped a bit. Still highly reccomend. If I had never seen or used the older one I would give this 5 stars.

Strength and dexterity required
I was looking forward to this so much. The light is excellent and i have used to look at a tooth. Tweezers require some strength to squeeze. They have a very narrow point. Shakey arthritic hands can't maneuver this product. Could use more if the tweezer had a wider end. Magnifying glass felt more in the way than useful. Gave to my niece who does healthcare and she loves them. Very good quality which deserves 4 stars. Just a little too hard for these old hands to use.

Excellent precision and magnification
I probably should have seen a medical professional, but I didn’t over something so dumb. I was opening a box when one of the large staples penetrated the pad of my index finger. I dug around in the wound with a needle but didn’t find anything. As it healed it was very sensitive when I grasped things and applied any pressure. I located a similar pair of magnified tweezers I had, these were awesome and I had used them on many slivers, but I just couldn’t seem to get the latest one, they have sharp tips but not great “pinching” power. The magnifier never seemed to focus on where I needed and I was often making blurred attempts. I know this whole review seems ridiculous, I agree with your opinion, but within minutes of opening and sanitizing the Carson lighted tweezers, I pulled a chunk of metal staple from old pointer. Holy Moley, what a relief. Barely visible with the naked eye, the Carson tweezers absolutely took care of the sliver that felt like a ginsu knife. Excellent precision, excellent focus with the magnifier and the small light very helpful. When I buy disappointing crap, I’m not afraid to call it that. When I find a gem like these, I like to share in hopes others will share positive experiences too.

Great little tool! Great value!
This is a great little first aid tool! I'm a home wood worker and machinist. From both I regularly end up with slivers in my hands and fingers. Sometimes that are quite hard to find and I end up with a wound that looks like hamburger from trying to dig out and elusive little bit of wood. This magnifier/tweezer has ended that! It's now easy to see almost every sliver splinter without strain. Then, the sharp pointed tweezers have a very effective sharp and fine point. It is always pretty easy now to grip sliver and remove. The magnifier is adjustable for distance to match anyone's vision perfectly. The magnifier is clear and un-distorted. It does have a rather short range of focus as is natural with high power simple lenses. I found that the best way to bring the into focus at the sliver is the "open" the hinge to a distance beyond the focus distance. Then place the tweezer point near the sliver. As you look through the lens, then slowly push the magnifier closer to the skin my eye brow until exact focus. It is easier than it sounds. Don't waste the extra $3 for the version with the fussy LED light built in. This one works just fine. Simply find a bright light to work under and don't mess with the un-needed complication of the built in light. At the current "Add On Item" price of four dollars, this is a great bargain. My only problem is that my wife has laid claim to my first pair to use with her sewing and I had to order another pair for myself. She likes these a lot for picking out fine threads and seams.

Very precise end
The magnifying glass focuses very well and the end is sharp and comes together well. It works very well for removing metal splinters. I can usually see wood splinters with out the magnifying glass, but it really helps for metal ones left over from grinding or cutting.

Works well enough
I am using these tweezers for removing metal splinters that I pick up from time-to-time in a machine shop. They work fine for that application. It's not perfect, but it works well enough. The light is pretty cool, but it's still usable with dead batteries. They have held up fairly well over the years, and I've used them a lot. I feel like the negative reviews from people trying to pluck hairs are like buying a Prius and complaining it can't go offroad.

Great for splinters
Had this for a while before writing this review. Why I am writing now is because I just quickly got a splinter out of my thumb! It only took a few seconds and I don't think it would've been as quick without the magnifying glass, it's super helpful. Together with Splinter Out and you're a splinter-clearing machine.

Why did I wait so long
I've been picking slivers out of my fingers for 60 years. Always had to involve a third hand somehow because tweezers and light and magnifying glass always required. Now they are all together in one spot and no one else involved. The one trick that is needed is you have to point out where the sliver is before looking through the glass. Almost impossible to find the sliver initially.
