It did the trick
Plain and simple, this worked. I have one of those pop-up drains in the shower, and with my wife's long hair and all the conditioner she uses, I was having to use those chemicals (that get super hot on contact with liquid and literally burn away your clogs) every other month. After a while I just got sick of putting on the gloves, goggles, mask, etc., wiping away all the standing water, using the chemicals, and then not using the shower overnight before pouring more hot water down the drain in the morning. So off I went in search of something that would catch hair at the drain. Let me tell you, it was not easy. I searched online, the local hardware stores, Bed Bath & Beyond ... you name it. I tried using a kitchen sink drain protector that's shaped like a half-sphere by turning it upside down over the stopper. While it was big enough, too much hair was sneaking through under the edges because of the minimal surface area at the point of contact with the tub. I was skeptical that this plastic drain protector would fit much less work, so imagine my surprise when it did both! It barely fit, but hey, even better. Why no fifth star? Well, after a while the plastic -- and especially the small drain holes -- will get clogged with hair products and mold, and you will have to clean it out. I just use an old tooth brush, but the process is pretty gross. In the future I just think I'll buy a new one or two whenever I need to get over $25 on my order for free super saver shipping.

Prevent drain clogs
This protector can fit over sink drains as well as shower drains because the plastic is flexible. It lies flat so it's better than the ones with suction cups on the bottom. Somehow it stays right where you put it and it catches hair and other debris and prevents them from going down the drain, while water flows right through.

Will This Fit My Tub Drain?
My bathroom tub has a the push down to close and push down to open type of drain. The chrome colored round piece is almost 3" in diameter limiting the choices for drain hair stoppers to use. I twisted the chrome round piece counter clockwise and it comes off! I also removed the black rubber washer that actually seals the drain when you push it down. Now all I had was a 1" tube in the middle of the drain. It still goes down when you push it and back up when you push it again. Now that the profile at the tub drain was thinner, I bought this drain protector and it fit perfectly. You just put it right over the drain and gravity is the only thing sealing this to your tub. While taking a shower, I noticed that the water was going down the drain way slower than usual. This is because the this drain protector is working and filtering what is going down. I'm no wookie, but after my shower, I saw all the hair that was trapped. I did see something similar to this product at Walmart at a cheaper price, but the quality was not as good as this and would not buy it. This is a great product! If I bought this sooner, I would have saved more money on not buying all those two packs of Liquid Plumer every year at Costco.

Blocks the hair....and the water
I have a pop up drain now so I had to buy something to avoid a deadly hair clog so this seemed to fit the bill. It does fit over the drain pretty well and does create a little bit of a natural seal onto the bottom of the tub. That region of the tub is a little curved but it still manages to lie close to flush to the surface. It DOES stop hair from going down pretty well which is why it got 3 stars instead of 2 but there are some issues. The water pressure in our shower is really good and this cap slows the water from draining significantly. It backs the water up. I have to "relieve the pressure" a couple of times during my shower so I am not standing in water. So this essentially creates the very problem you are trying to avoid dealing with (aka slow draining tub due to hair clog- now you just have slow draining tub due to stopper). If the water pressure is weaker in your shower this may not be a problem. Ultimately, I try to use this only when I am washing my hair and leave it off on the other days. Hesitant to recommend to others. I would consider other options if I thought there were any.

It works. 'Nuff said.
Simply put - this drain cover works. Unlike other drain covers, it sits flush with the tub, ensuring that no hair or other gunk can slip in around suction cups, or other attachment points (for comparison, the Good Grips cover's suction cups result in a gap between the bottom of the cover and the tub surface). This allows all the hair to catch around the bottom of the mesh area, while still allowing water to flow into the drain. You'll have to of course clean the cover of hair every couple of showers, but it sure beats having to snake the drain or clean hard water stains off a tub that won't drain. I should note that this is my second protector. I had one in my old apartment, and left it behind when I moved. Luckily, this was still in my Amazon purchase history, so buying a second one was a breeze. All in all, this has been a huge headache-reducer, and I've enjoyed the ease of cleaning, and no longer having to stand in ankle deep water while showering!

It fits! It works!
This one fits!! It used to be easy to buy drain protectors that fit. Having had roommates and having had to call a plumber after finding out they weren't using the drain protector, this item is a "must-have" in all my bathrooms. I've tried so many brands of these, and none but this one are tall enough to sit on the floor of the tub and still cover the pop-up drain. This one doesn't drain as well as ones I've used in the past, but those are no longer available. I'm thankful that Amazon keeps a record of what we buy, because I didn't want to waste money on another one that doesn't cover the drain. I'm ordering two this time so that I don't have to look it up again for a while. Also, because I don't know how much longer the correct size will be available! Other brands keeping getting smaller.

Fits Push Down Drains
I have a push down drain and have bought several drain protectors but they are all too small (the push down drain is too high). I bought this as the reviews claimed it worked for other push down drains. At first glance I thought it was too small for the drain and the hair with flow from under the base as it did not sit flat. However, when I tried it, it worked superbly. Yes, it slows water from draining too, but what is more important is that it stops the hair from clogging the drain in the long run. My drain is 5 cm wide and 2.3 cm high.This fits.

This might be just my drain, but this device allows very little water through it, so my tub ends up having a shallow pool of water after every shower. At the same time, it catches all the hair so it does what its supposed to. At least its not going down the drain and clogging it.

Works well
I've only had it a little while, but it seems to be working very well. It prevents any falling hair from going down the drain but doesn't stop the water from getting through so there is no pooling of water at my feet. Very happy so far.
