Fits Hobie 5” Mirage Kayak
This Harmony 5-Inch Hatch Kit is a perfect size replacement for my older Hobie Kayak. The screws provided with the kit are the wrong lengths, need to be at least 1" to 1 1/2" inches long. The correct thread size of the screws are 10/32. The kit also didn't include the two clips to attach lanyard to the cover and red bag to the Kayak. Hardware is readily available at HD.

Great little kit, fairly simple to install
I own a Perception Outlaw 11.5 and it has two spots for hull kits to be installed, one on the stern and one in the center right in front of the seat so I decided to slap one in the back for extra storage plus I wanted to install a trolling motor mount so I needed access to the inside to install it. Other reviews state that this kit requires a 5" hole......well actually it's 5&3/8 to be exact. I purchased a 5" hole saw, drilled the hole and the insert would not go in imagine that. I just used my die grinder and shaved the whole a fuzz bigger but it would be nice to have the exact size hole saw and wham bam be done with it. The screws are short that are used to install the kit since the foam gasket is hard to compress to get the hardware started. I found that if you put the little rubber deals with the threads inside upside down and install it that way first that helps compress that foam gasket. Then I took each rubber fastener off and flipped it around the proper way one at a time and it was real easy to get the screw threaded into the rubber fasteners. Overall seems like a pretty good kit just be prepared to drink a few beers, it takes a few minutes to get this puppy in

Worked perfectly for 2020 Perception Tribe 13.5 upgrade
I installed on a 2020 Perception Tribe 13.5 and fit just right. For $39.99 it better! To start, I cut the rim off the existing factory hatch hole using an oscillating tool with metal cutting blade. The key is to make it flush and not widen the hole because the new hatch flange fits inside the hatch hole perfectly. From there I centered the flange in the hatch hole, marked the bolt holes with a Sharpie, then used a 11/64 drill bit to predrill the holes. Now is the part that took a few minutes to figure out. I was going to use rivets but prefered the look of the stainless bolts around the flange plus the holes are slightly smaller so if I had problems I could always widen the holes and install the rivets. Back to the bolts.....the fit is very tight in the flange bolt holes so I screwed them in about halfway leaving at least 1/2" on the bottom side of the flange then pressed the gasket onto the bottom with the screws holding it in place. Placing it over the predrilled holes in the kayak, I then screwed each bolt into their respective hole until it stripped itself from the holes in the flange and kayak and was able to turn freely. This allows you to put the rubber nut in place underneath and push up a little while using the drill to start the bolt threading into the rubber nut. I did that for all bolts then switched to a screw driver to finish tightening them by hand while pulling up around the holes in the kayak to ensure a tight seal between the flange, gasket, and kayak. Done. For good measure I put some clear silicone around the outside edge. One note for Tribe owners, the bag that comes with the kayak from the factory fits perfectly in this hatch so you will have a spare.

More than I expected
I wanted black but only in dark grey, good thing, it matches better. Came with a foam gasket to go under the upper flange, should be watertight. The lid has a positive snap at lock position. Cord sewn threw the inner bag attaches under the inside nut and the other end, from inside the bag, attaches to the lid so that nothing gets lost. The outer edge of the lid is the perfect templet for the whole that needs to be cut.

Good Quality but pain to install
I installed this product in the designated cutout on my Perception Outlaw 11.5. The quality of the plastic and bag seem pretty good. It's not water proof, but it will secure my items as I need it to. I also like the string comes with two fasteners so you don't lose the bag or lid. Cons: It's hard to install. You would think cutting the plastic of my kayak at just the right diameter would be the most difficult part, but trying to install the gasket with the provided screws was the worst. I abandoned the gasket all together and still had to install the well nuts backward to get the screws to work. I probably should have purchased longer screws, but it was 9 p.m. when I got to this point, so I just worked with what I had. I think this will work well enough, but I wish they would include appropriate hardware. I don't know if I'll purchase another one or try the $8 one I bought that didn't come with a catbag.

Nice looking, smooth operating hatch
My fishing kayak came with one hatch and two preset locations for other hatches. This hatch is the second of the two hatches that I've installed. I think the hatch looks nice and is easy to open and close. There is a nice positive click when it is fully latched. My issue with it, however, is the well nuts and the thick foam seal under the flange. The seal is so thick that the well nuts don't clamp down as they should and, if you don't compress the seal before you tighten the screws, the well nuts just pull out. If you choose this hatch be sure to use the smallest drill bit you possibly can and compress the seal as far as possible when tightening the screws. Over all I think I'd give this hatch a three-and-a-half star rating because it is nicely made. It's just those well nuts ...
