Worked well to fix my tent

Fixed the broken pole to my Coleman Montana with this kit. cutting the poles with a hacksaw was easy. Threading the shock cord went well after I figured out that the key is to but the shock cord to the pull wire and use just a little bit of tape; just enough to keep them together... One wrap around with no overlap worked well. The repaired pole worked well with my tent.

Good value, pretty functional.

The repair kit is pretty basic. I like the fact this one had four replacement pole sections. The last one I bought a few years ago only had two for the same price. It is tedious to string the elastic through and I don't understand the wire they include. It isn't long enough to get all the way through the length of the rod section. I have just used a wire coat hanger the last two times I have done this and some Scotch tape to attach the elastic. One thing I figured out last time was to tie a loop into the end knot. It makes it easy to grab with needle nose pliers and just trim the knot off and reuse the elastic. After 10+ years, this is only the second time I have had to repair my Eureka Terra 5. Both times the poles. Last time was general fatigue in the center ones, but this time was a cyclist running into the tent somehow. Happy with the the tent and the repair kit. I would certainly buy it again, but hopefully won't since it has a spare two pole sections included.

Make sure to check your diameter!

This kit was surprisingly well put together, and should fix any tent pole you have that's 11mm in diameter (0.433 inches). It's got 4 replacement poles, ferrules, caps and a spare shock cord, depending on what you're missing. I used this to fix a blown pole for an old Eureka Tetragon 1610. The length of the pole was spot on! According to the directions, you can hacksaw them down if you need it shorter, so really all you have to nail down is the diameter. I almost bought the 9.5mm version before I found out there were two sizes. Anyway, I packed the unused remainder of the kit in with the rest of the poles, so I won't lose track of them. Glad to have it :)

Used 1 length to replace a broken pole on my Coleman Sundome tent. Better than buying a new tent. I wouldn't want to use these to replace a whole pole...only 4 sections in kit.

Easy, fits, gets the job done

It’s exactly what I needed. Just had to cut off a length of the new pole, thread the shock cord though (there’s a handy wire included to help with that), tie a knot and done! We can use our large family tent again!

They dont make my length of pole i needed. These are 11mm and i had to cut off several inches. I used the cutting wheel for metal on my dremel. Went around in a circle, turning the rod, (USE EYE AND FACE *BREATHING MASK PROTECTION, it is fiberglass, and in a well ventilated area) it took no time. Smoothed the edges so they dont fray. The metal ends that come with it do not like to stay on. I even tapped them with a hammer on a hard surface on the end and it wont stay. The shock cord is not long enought to do ONE set of poles. Buy some. It might repair a small set and definitely is long enough for the 4 poles in the set, but the 11mm poles are my main long support poles and it would not fix even one set. Good quality poles. Time will tell on longivity. The hole in the middle of new rods was bigger, which means less fiberglass and less longivity potentially. I only needed to replace 4. I mixed them more in the middle of the rods. I did not put the on the end where more stress is. But if i need more in the future this diameter, i will buy these. All in all ot does the job. Had all of the parts needed except enough shock cord. Great buy.

A solution for damaged tent poles.

This repair kit worked well to replace a damaged tent pole. I did need to use a hacksaw to cut the pole to size. The shock cord tool worked well.

Repair, don’t replace

A couple of sections from our tent poles snapped during a recent trip where we encountered very strong gusting winds that ripped a section of the pole pocket of our tent. My wife conducted surgery on the tent while I was tasked with looking for a solution to the snapped pole sections. Initially I had thought I would need to buy a whole new pole system until I came across this kit. This did the job perfectly and we were up and running once again.

How i repaired my FRP tent poles (two different sizes - 11mm and 9mm) with this 11mm replacement kit

I'm happy having found this pole replacement kit at Amazon. This has allowed me to repair two main tent poles (11 mm) and the (entrance) rainfly pole (9mm) of a nearly new Ozark Trail tent bought at Walmart a few years ago for about $60 (otherwise i would have had to throw away the complete tent). The repair kit's pole sections are some inches longer than the original ones so i had to cut them off with a metal hand saw after wrapping around the cutting line with masking tape (FRP is easy to shatter). The included shock cord is happily long enough to replace one of original ones that broke up during the last makeshift repair. To pass the cord through the pole i had to use an electrical (vinyl) tape to wrap around (end to end) the end of the provided installation wire and the end of the cord in a thin layer (it won't pass otherwise through the pole). Always stretch and hold the cord with one hand while pulling the non-stretched part (with vinyl tape) of the cord with the other hand till the last pole. This is the most somewhat difficult part of the repair operation. The rainfly pole is smaller (9mm) but i could use one 11mm pole section in the kit to replace one 9mm damaged pole section by placing it at the end and pushing the old 9mm ferrule into the new 11mm ferrule (avoiding thus to buy another 9mm pole repair kit). I also reused one cracked pole section by trimming its length (as the 11mm repair pole section in the kit is longer).

Very nice replacement poles that can be cut to size.

I looked around locally but could not find these type of tent poles. This kit is perfect since you can cut to size, put in the end caps and elastic, and voila, you don't need to go out and buy a new tent! Shipped very quickly.
