Hard to beat on $11 for this KISS Tension Bar Adapter
Warehouse Deal - V. Good was excellent to me. Slightly damaged box, brand new adapter without a scratch on it, for just $11 (1/3 of the regular price). Notice that there are 2 different tension bar adapters by SportsRack; this is the Advantage Heininger version. Instructions were on the box - which to me weren't quite apparent to me, because the box itself was slightly damaged (hence Warehouse Deal) and Amazon put a lot of Warehouse Deal Inspection barcode stickers right on top of the instructions. Nevertheless, they're quite simple: 2 loops of different size on each side - 1 for the seat and 1 for handle bar (instructions would tell you which side to be positioned). Each loop has a piece of metal bar that opened in 1 direction by pressing a button "ball" (or locked by that same button ball). The tube itself could extend/contract but there's no locking mechanism to fix the length (hence my comment on KISS - because you don't need to lock it. Just think about this - the length between the handle bar and the bike seat couldn't be changed on a bike, so once you put the tube in between, the tube would always be "locked" in that length, until you remove it and put it on another bike. Yes, there's some leeway but that's only a couple of inches max. Besides, the extension itself actually has quite a bit of friction to it so it's not like free and lose extension. Now, there's 1 important part which I believed that those 1 star critical reviews didn't give this adapter some justice. Make sure that you position the adapter up/down correctly! Gravity always win, so if you position the bar with the bike handle/seat pressing against the opening mechanism (so the opening mechanism would be against gravity), neither metal piece could open naturally from vibration, and the weight of the bike would serve as the 2nd lock. But if you position it wrong, then gravity on the bike would put stress on the metal piece and potentially cause it to open up. This was probably think by an engineer, and probably not using an use-case for an everyday person. Great product nevertheless.

They Do Not have my Confidence and I would Not recommend them.
By the Looks of it and the Video, I thought that this Tube was “Just Right”. Unfortunately it was “Just Wrong”. The Tube may adjust from 15. to 30. inches, but there’s no-way to lock it down. Also, the Safety Catches can vibrate loose. This is what happened to my bike. I'm not sure if it matters which end goes under the seat and which end holds the handlebar. I'm assuming that the larger end holds the seat (there are No Instructions with the Tube). However the smaller end wouldn’t fit around the neck of my bike, so I had to switch it. As we were coming home from our first outing with our New bikes (and Tube's and Hieninger SportsRack), we heard this unnerving sound coming from the back of the car. The Safety Catch had vibrated open and the Tube extended away from the seat. Thus allowing my New bike to fall and have its rear tire being dragged down the highway at 70 MPH. This resulted in a large bald spot on my tire and a slightly bent rim. Turning my brand New bike, into an Old bike. The SportsRack had a firm grip on the Top Tube, but the Tube didn’t have a firm grip on my bike. As my bike tire was skipping down the highway, the stress on the Handlebars was such, that it bent the Safety Catch of the other side. The whole bike was about to drop-away just as we pulled over. The following week we tired it again, only this time I got some Heavy-duty Velcro strips and secured them around the Bikes, Tubes and Rack. Which was fortunate, as the Safety Catches on another Tube vibrated open on my Granddaughters bike. I purchased 4 of these Tubes and have Returned All of them for a Refund. They Do Not have my Confidence and I would Not recommend them. The ones I Would recommend are the ones I just received from Allen Sports (to Replace the Top Tubes). They are a more solid construction. They have a Tension Spring to hold the Tube tight and secure to the bike. They have a Lock that doesn’t look like it could vibrate loose. And they're Half the price of the Top Tubes. Works for me.

life saver
I purchased this item so i could McGiver it to a 4 wheel cart. It extends to "32 inches so i hooked to my bicycles' seat post then attach it to the handle of the cart so as to transport umbrellas blankets coolers and boogie boards to the beach in record with ease. It worked like a dream. I hope you find it as ergonomic as i did.

Heininger Adapter may be OK but I never got to try it.
I never really got to use it - the collar between the two tubes was broken when I received it. I returned it for a refund. After reading more reviews I ordered another - different brand. I'm not really sure why the fuss over this adapter being for "women's and kids" bikes. The one I bought as a replacement made no claims to be specific for women/kids bikes but fits my wife's Jamis Halo just fine.

but like others that have reviewed it
I bought 2 of these, one for my wife's bike and one for my child's bike. It does not fit on my child's bike, although the description said it should. It fit on my wife's bike, but like others that have reviewed it, the button that hold the end in place vibrated loose. Also the part that moves to open was bent out and could not be used again. Thankfully her bike dropped off after we were going slowly in the campground so it was not damaged. Fortunately we had enough room in the back of the truck , after the camping trip, that her bike fit in without having to use the bike rack.

bike extender
It is great for bikes that do not have the bar straight across. Harder to figure out ways for smaller bikes though. thought it should have been tighter around bikes. But great for the purpose it was trying to serve.

Fits kids bike well
From a few top tubes we tried, this is the only one fit into my kids bike. It is about 16 inches between the seat post and the head tube. It is very tightly fit though, to the point that I have to take the seat post out first to install the tube. The tube itself is pretty sturdy and well priced.

Good price and is secure once it isn the bike
This is a good product. I like the fact that there are hinged tabs on both ends that have lock pins so that the bar can't accidently come off. The bar is well made and say to use. The vendor was prompt with the delivery and I feel the value was good.

This is a great and good quality product. And it's made in Taiwan! Easy to use. Totally loving it!

Does the trick
Works pretty well, though having the movable part of the ends rotate rather than hinge can make for some awkward situations.

OK, but not really for kids bikes
Given the title of the product, and the 15.5"+ spec'd range, I figured this item should adequately fit my boy's 14" bike (spread from stem to seat post of 16"), but it does not - it's too long. So beware about the 15.5" min length. I'd suggest that this fits bikes with a stem to seat post range of 18"+. Saying that, they can be cut down which is probably what I will do. For adult bikes, I'd recommend the Swagman product instead, since the openings extend outward (not up or down like this one) and it is spring loaded. In addition, the openings are harder to operate (than the Swagman) since the push pins are very small. All in all, they are OK and ultimately do the job, but don't fit small kids bikes and not as refined as other products out there.
