A lot of Bang for your Dollar, Very Good Product.
Pros: Amazon's prices are incredible!!! I couldn't find a 4 bike, bike rack, like this one, cheaper any place else. I looked at the Allen 4 bike rack compatible to this one in a sporting goods store, although I did consider buying the Allen one b/c it was about $20.00 cheaper, but, this one is constructed and designed much better, and it is by far worth the extra $20.00. The bike frame rubber brackets/holders and the thick rubber bands are both adjustable. The holders are adjustable left & right and forward & backwards, all you have to do is losen the allen screw on each brackets. The brackets also comes w/groves so that the brake and other cables will sit properly so as not to scratch the bike frame. This design is usually used on the more expensive brand of bike racks. The arms folds down when not in use and the frame tilts away from the rear hatch door for easy access to the cargo area of my SUV. These two features were the most important factors for my decision to purchase this bike rack. The metal frame and the brackets appears to be of sturdy design and quality. It also comes w/two red reflectors at the end of the carry arms. On the bottom of the rack between the frame and the hitch mount there is a metal bar that is welded diagnally as a support bar. You can use the gab/space as a loop for a cable lock to go through it to lock your bikes. You can also use that loop to lock the bike rack to the loops on the hitch with a cable lock. Amazon was amazing from the order process to delivery. I ordered mine on Monday and rec'd it on Thursday. It was shiped from their PA warehouse and it was delivered to my NY residence w/in 3 days. Rec'd it just in time for the wkend. I placed 4 bikes on it and it carried all the bikes quite easily. Cons: The "T" pin used to lock and unlock the tiltaway feature is kind of hard to pull. First you have to turn the adjustable thumb screw and pull out the side safety metal pin. Once the safety metal pin is pulled then you adjust the thumb screw again in order to pull the "T" pin. The adjustable thumb screw is located under the "T" pin and it is somewhat difficult to adjust. The side safety pin comes w/a carter pin clip to prevent it from accidentally sliping out, so why did they designed the extra thumb screw???? I guess the thumb screw is a third safety feature. Not quite sure. I have a 2" hitch. (also bought from Amazon, Curt 13328, awesome price, very happy w/the purchase and it fits my 2005 Pilot perfectly) The hitch mount on this bike rack is for a 1 1/4" hitch mount but it comes w/the adapter so that it can be mounted on a 2" hitch. There seems to be a little bit of space between the adapter and the hitch mount b/c when I loaded 4 bikes on the bike rack it appears to be a bit woobly. I wished that the hitch mount was made specifically for a 2" hitch and not have to use an adapter. The 1 1/4" part of the bike rack appears to be pretty flimsy. I hope that it won't crack off w/the weight of 4 bikes. Other thoughts: The 2 metal pins that are on the top and bottom of the bike rack comes w/carter pins clips and these carter pins clips comes w/round key rings, you can loop these round key rings through the thin cables that are attached to the metal pin so that you won't loose them. Over all, I think this is a very good bike rack compared to the other big brand name ones that cost twice as much. I highly recomend it.

There is not enough room for four bikes
We just finished putting this bike rack together and then using it. If it indeed would hold four bikes and if it didn't arrive with a defective very important bolt, I would have given it five stars. The bolt that holds the hitch to the receiver came out of the package with the first few threads mashed together, and if I had tried to use it I am sure I would have stripped the nut. I called Heininger and they said that since I bought it on Amazon, I would have to contact them, I got a replacement one at a local hardware. I bought it for carrying three bikes, and after putting them on I can see that there is no space for a fourth bike. (thankfully I only need it for three). The hitch is rock solid in the receiver, but once the verticle post is installed it has wiggle room due to the fact that the "Clevis pin" (which you pull out for tilting the rack ) does not allow the post to be tightened to the hitch. I solved that by another trip to the hardware store and replaced the pin with a bolt, washers and a lock nut. If you want the rack to tilt, this won't allow it, but in my case I will never be tilting it. With my modification the entire rack is now rock solid. On using it I watched in the rear view mirror that there was no bouncing at all even after I went over three speed bumps As of now, I am very happy with it , but I'll know in April when we use it on a thousand mile trip

Works on a RAV4
I bought both this Hieninger 3013 rack and a Curt Manufacturing 13509 Class III Receiver from Amazon. The Curt receiver was easy to fit under the RAV4 with the help of a couple of axle stands and a friend- 15 minutes in total. Combined, the receiver and rack place my 4 bikes safely away from the spare tyre hump on the rear door of the RAV4 body. However the receiver is slightly over 2 inch and the 2 inch adapter on the rack is less than 2 inch. I'm a handy guy and so I can do something to improve the fit between the receiver and rack. Until then the darn thing wobbles left and right forward and back. Instead of having a normal pin to fix the rack to the receiver the rack has a proprietary screw bolt pin and I DO NOT LIKE IT! I wish they'd stuck to the standard pin. The plastic fittings for the bikes slide on the arms. I guess I ought to say it's adjustable because it is and with the 4 very different bikes I have to put on here that is useful. However then you need to use bungee straps to stop all the bikes sliding forward or backwards - not a problem because I'm a belt and suspenders sort of guy. I don't have the problem other people seem to have with the other pins for lowering the rack to open the rear door door. Take out the 2 pins pull up a handle and lower the rack. I secured the pins with some flexible wire so I don't have to hold on to them. For the RAV4 when you lower the rack you have an open door space 22 inch wide- you cannot open the door all the way. But anyway once you've got the bikes off it's easier to unscrew the one pin through the receiver and take the rack off- not a big deal for me. I just spoke with a guy who had the perfect 4 bike rack for an SUV that has a side hinged door. He Cut and welded the steel himself and bought the bike "holders" in Germany. It weighs over 80 pounds and cost him over $500. But it was a great rack! In total this is an inexpensive work around bike rack and because of the price I'll give it 4 stars.
