Decent rack for the money. Rubber straps broke on day 1.
Purchased a couple Mountain Bikes, and needed a carrier for my wife's SUV. This seemed to be just what we needed. It arrived in quick time, installed easily enough, and mounted bikes for trial run. They were bouncing all over the place back and forth, and side to side. Quick trip to Home Depot for some nuts, bolts, and lock washers, and replaced every quick connect piece of hardware on the rack. Tightened all the connections, and now the rack seems to be 95% more stable. Wasn't able to completely tighten the bolt that holds the upright bar, but once the bikes are secured, the movement is almost gone. The hitch tightener that comes with this is definitely needed, but should be mounted upside down, for easier access to the lower nuts, and to add upward pressure to the receiver, which gives a couple more inches of clearance at the rear of the rack from the road. Other than all 4 rubber straps ripping in half after the 1st use, I give this rack a solid 4 stars. Could be better, but not the worst.

Had for 2 years now
Bought this 2 years ago and it has traveled 2xs to and from Pennsylvania to Florida in the winter with our bikes without any problems. Easy to install, has a little rust on it but has lots of life left in it..

Made a 3000 mile trip.
I had this on the back of my truck and drove threw snow, sleet and rain. There was never an issue with the rack. It even endured the multiple potholes on the Arizona freeways. This rack is sturdy and well built to make it all the way from California to North Oklahoma.

Not for fat tire bikes
Bike rack is great but my bike has fat tires. Bike rack will not work with fat tires! Couldn't reach anyone to fix problem. Finally found a site that sold adapters for almost 60$ should have had the option when I bought the carrier.

Great value for the $ ** May require modification to prevent exhaust frying bike tire **
I've used a home-made rack for 20 years but it required removing the front bike tire, which has become a chore. So I looked at the myriads of racks which don't require removing a tire, from $ to $$$$. The high-buck racks were WAY out of my pocketbook range so I concentrated on the low-end racks and decided to give this one a shot, and I'm quite happy with it. Sure it isn't perfect but with a bit of mods it suits my needs very well. * PROS: - Great buy for the money - Easy to assemble/disassemble - Easy to install/remove from vehicle - Easy to mount/dismount bike - Reasonably lightweight - Sturdy when bike is clamped TIGHT - Clamp provided to prevent hitch wobble (see photos for my fix) * CONS: - No locking mechanism - Tilt mechanism wobbles (see photos for my fix) - Depending on your vehicle the exhaust from tailpipe likely to heat tires unacceptably... (see photos for my fix) When I was removing my bike after a 10 mile drive I almost burned my hand when I bumped up against the metal rail, which is when I realized the rack was just above being in-line with the exhaust. Back home after the ride I checked the temperature of the bike tire and metal bar and they were 175° & 190°! Since the rack was too far out from the vehicle for my taste (Toyota 4Runner), I got the idea to cut the center bar and overlap it, in effect shortening it 4" and raising it 2". I bolted it together first to make sure it did what I wanted, and now that it works I will weld it together permanently. About the exhaust heating tires and rack bar issue... I would guess a LOT of people never realize this could be an issue (I never did because my custom rack was much higher) but it is worth checking the relationship between exhaust stream and bar/tire height before driving along distance, only to have a melted/deteriorated tire. I don't fault the rack at all for no locking mechanism because I never leave the bike unattended on the rack, it's always home to biking and back to home. If it HAD a locking mechanism it would cost more, which would reduce the value per $. (I do have a means to lock the wherever there is a removable pin so I actually CAN lock the bike to the rack while preventing rack disassembly as well, but again, I never leave it unattended so I don't bother.) I use other means to prevent hitch wobble (see photos for my fix) so I used the provided clamp to prevent wobble from the tilt mechanism instead, as it was more than I expected. Sure I won't be able to tilt the rack but the trade-off for no wobble AT ALL was worth giving up the tilt, which I won't use anyway. NOTE: Plan on taking extra time to figure out exactly where you want to clamp the tire baskets. I'd recommend facing the bike(s) with the chain on the OPPOSITE side from the rack so the knob doesn't interfere with the any part of the bike. Overall, knowing what I know now, I would buy this rack again and would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to keep the cost under $100.

Quality beyond price range
Very easy to assemble. Says it fits 20"-26" tires. I fit a 27.5 and a 29 no problem. Only issue arises with tire width. My 27.5 has 2.35" wide tires. It fits, but is very snug. Could likely bend it out a bit. Overall very happy with the product. Very sturdy, secured bikes nicely. Not sure why anyone would spend $400 on a similair carrier when this does the same things for nearly a quarter of the price. ????

Good Quality / Price Ratio
The included Latch Pins didn't get pakaged right, too many small, too fiew large ones. Didn't bother me too much, I replaced some by actual Bolts and Nuts so I was fine, but that's just me. First time under light rain the welded sections showed rust spots, which I cleaned and painted over with car Touch-up black paint, problem solved... Keep in mind It's made in China ! Really Love the hitch tightener, makes the hole thing real steady ! Had to add a washer to tilting post support to make it more steady, no big deal. All in all great value for such a low priced Bike Rack !

Very good buy for the money after a couple simple modifications
Got this rack delivered in 2 days with Prime. The lock pins were kinda different from the instruction sheet, & some were smaller in diameter than the holes. Some wobbling & balancing I did not like on the road with 2 bikes in. As other reviewers suggested, I replaced both left and right quick removal pins by quality bolts (tight fit in the holes) and nylon locking nuts for safety (less than $5.00). I did not care to make it "permanent" as I have plenty of room for storage. At the mean time while I was there with a ratchet I tightened the center bolt that holds the vertical post (It was kind of loose). Now everything is tight, sturdy and solid, love this rack that costs a fraction of a Thule!

Excellent bike rack. Great value for the money.
Even my wife was skeptical that this rack would work for the price being charged. It is half the cost of a very similar rack and hundreds less than some big brand names. It went together very easily I have transported two bikes on it with ease after the initial set up. No wobble or swaying. I did not have to use the hitch tightener but it could be helpful for some. The tilt function allows me to open the tailgate on my truck with the bikes loaded. I have added some extra padding to the part that tightens down on the top of the bike frame.

Wobbly.
The device swings a bit, the whole thing is loose and rocks left to right, despite being firmly attached and locked into the hitch. Having said this at no point am I worried that my bikes will fall off or anything like that. The carrier works well, and gets the job done. You get what you pay for and this is good bang for your buck.
