Good Enough Quality for the Price; I'd Say It's a Good Buy
I'd say this is a good buy, certainly not a disappointment. The metal and the overall construction feel solid enough. One minor short coming may be that the roasting rod does not turn 360 degrees. You have to turn 180 degrees in one direction and turn back the other way to get the meat evenly exposed to the fire. That's why I only gave it 4 our of 5 stars.. But if someone tells me, I am wrong about this and I can't do no 360 because I've set it up incorrectly... I'd be happy to dial it up to full five stars. Another thing... I would not put any type of food ingredients directly on the grill. It was obvious that the metal was chemically treated, or the paint used is certainly not heat resistant... When I placed it above the fire, I could easily smell the chemical fume and saw the pain peeling. But I do not personally think of this as a defect as I think it is a common sense not to place any ingredients on these grills directly. After all, this is a "value" grill/spit that's not even $100. Buyers need to have the right expectations for what they are paying to purchase. Hence no star reduction for this.

Take my money!
Got yesterday and made it a point to test out later that night in light of the number of vocal negative reviews. Have to say I'm impressed so far. Assembly was pretty straight forward. One thing that bugged me is the two Eye bolts to secure the grill were easy to come out when transporting. Set it up at the office and wanted to see if it'd stay assembled on the way home. Doesn't stand up to travel well when assembled but really shouldn't be expected to. Easy fix would be to go to a hardware store and buy some threaded eye bolts and put a nut on the end of it. When stationary stays pretty stable for any usage it'd be designed for and very unlikely to have issues with the supplied hardware. No carrying case is a bummer but I'm keeping the cardboard box it came in for transportation. I cooked four hamburgers directly on the grill with a pretty hot fire. When camping and after a few drinks I tend to get the fire roaring and glass melting hot so I wanted to make sure I wouldn't have any trouble with this and the grill if it so happened needed to be over the fire after that happened. Instructions say that the grill is best used over embers at about 6". Rotisserie is recommended to do first while the flames are going at about a foot if I recall. My firepit is a little over sized and so I stuck it on the inside of the bricks and fit perfectly. While sitting alongside the embers and over the flames there was no paint peeling or noticeable damage of any kind. The rotisserie handle stayed pretty cool and doesn't seem like I'll have a problem turning it while cooking. Handle is designed for four stationary positions rather than constant rotation. Burgers came off the grill with no paint peeling up and grill still looking in great shape, no change from when I unpackaged it. The grill does get messy when cooking directly on the grate though, so a disposable grilling mat or tin foil would be great if you're the kind to keep things neat. I'm looking forward to testing the pot holders as that's where I see it's potential weakness but haven't had a chance to yet. If it can boil a gallon of water and hold the weight well, I can't imagine needing it to do anything else. I'll be cooking a turkey on the rotisserie this weekend as well to see how that does. Seems to be a great buy!

You don't put the food directly on the grill
Regarding the complaints about the paint, it's not meant to have food directly on the grill surface. Use a cast iron skillet or grill pan on the grill to cook your food. And no, you're not supposed to use it inside, but you're not supposed to leave it outside in the elements when not in use, either. Use it, then let it cool, then take it down and store it. To alleviate rust and make it last longer, get some black rust resistant food grade high temperature spray paint meant for BBQ grills and spray on it. It does wobble but still usable. It's not meant to last forever but it will last longer if you don't leave it out in the elements and if you apply the rust resistant food grade high temperature spray paint. Make sure it's the kind for BBQ grills.

Great price and great product for outdoor cooking
Inexpensive and reasonable quality for a outdoor cooking grate. Makes cooking over our solo stove easy and fun. Perfect size.

Our group may glamp but we are pretty serious about cooking over the campfire
Museum Portfolio 23-Inch by 31-Inch, Black We purchased this cooking grill along with our new travel trailer roughly a year ago. We have a large group of friends with whome we regularly camp. We've produced a lot of children along the way and they consume a lot of food while camping. Our group may be a bit lax in the roughing-it camping accommodations but we are pretty serious about camping over the campfire rather than ordering out. It's just something we like to do. I first tried this grill out in June of last year while camping along Lake Superior. It met *almost* every need required for our cooking style. We roasted a trio of chickens on the spit, it was sturdy enough to hold my large and heavy cast iron skillet with 3 pounds of bacon. Steaks, brauts, whatever *thumbs up*. There were only two shortfalls. 1. The surface area... we just needed more cook space because we are often grilling for two dozen. This problem was easily solved through a bit of engineering, however. One of the families we camp with loved the grill so much, they bought one too. We then were push re-bar rods through the two horizonal square channel feet and combine the two grills into a super-grill. We were further able to place a round grill grate fastened to another piece of iron rod and placed it on top using the vertical square channel as a holder for the rod. See included photo of Voltron Grill. 2. I wish the welds between the cooking grate and it's attachment bracket were a little stronger. One of the kids took a tumble onto our grill and it snapped at the weld :/ However, as a vote of confidence in the product I'm buying another.
