Perfect for larger diameter tent poles.

REI half dome repair
I have an older REI half dome that was unusable because of broken pole. I ordered this slide it in place and used just a little duck tape to ensure it didn’t slide. Worked perfect completed a 38 mile 2 night section hike on AT with no issues.

good thing
The diameter of my tent rod is 1/2 inch at the widest and I got the 5/8 inch and it worked perfectly and snugly and my tent held strong. only thing it was almost too snug when I put it on and hard to adjust once I got it on, but I secured it with duct tape (just in case) and when tent take-down time came I knew it would be hard for me to remove, so when I packed up the tent I just left that one rod to stick out of the bag. But no regrets!! it is cheaper then buying new tent rods, not complicated like those broken rod kits with rope, and a super quick remedy for a broken rod - just what I needed. My tent is old and I dont want to pay for a new one now.

Great repair part for broken tent rods
We will never go camping again without a couple of these in with our camping gear. Simple, easy to use and works perfectly.

Good, lightweight insurance and backup
I bought this as a backup for in-the-field repairs. On our last over-nighter our three-person tent had one of the poles shatter. I fixed it on the fly with a bunch of duct-tape for the night and then purchased a repair kit to replace the broken section. Now that I've replaced that section and bought this splint, I hope to never have to do it again. But if I do, this is wrapped with 3 feet of duct-tape and tucked into the tent bag ready to go.

They won't work well on my kelty poles as purchased because the size of the splint matched pretty closely the OUTSIDE of my poles
When you buy these, the size listed is NOT the I.D. for the splint. This makes it misleading. These things are supposed to slip over the tent poles. They won't work well on my kelty poles as purchased because the size of the splint matched pretty closely the OUTSIDE of my poles. So, while I could sloppily use the large splint on a smaller pole, it is not a super fit and nothing fits my larger poles. Just make sure you don't expect the inner size to be the listed size.

Expensive small tube of aluminum. Doesn't come with tape or anything to keep it in place.
Worked OK for a tent that arrived with a broken dac aluminum pole. In the directions it recommends keeping it in place using tape but doesnt come with any so it's a little expensive for basically a small tube of aluminum without something to keep it in place.

Works well
Works well. I bought this to repair a tent pole which was very bent and about to break... I just slid the splint onto the pole and duct taped around both sides. Was able to go camping in the very windy BLM area of Joshua tree with no issues. I recommend it.

Caro para lo que es
Es una férula de Aluminio para reparar postes de casa de campaña, la compré para reparar un poste de mi casa de campaña. Se me hace un poco caro pero confío en la calidad de Gear Aid

Does the job
Good quality metal piece, saved me the trouble of buying new tent poles (if I could find the right size). Taped one into place on the tent and tossed a back-up into my tent bag in case something goes wrong in future. Well worth the money.

Solid product
Works as advertised... was able to continue using a pole versus purchasing a new pole
