They tear the stitching out under too much stress.
I have had three sets of these in less than a year. My first set made it almost six months, the next set failed within two weeks, and the last set failed in about three and a half months. The problem is the stitching. It is only stitched at the sides of the Velcro, so under weight and high reps, the stitching fails. For example, I do hanging leg lifts. I weigh around 205#'s and usually do three sets: 60/50/40 or so. This is more abuse than they can take. I really want to like these, as you can control the bar between the hooks, but when they fail they are really painful on your wrists. They are probably fine for someone who lifts more like a kitten than a tiger.

Much too large
I bought these hooks to take some of the tension out of my forearms when doing lifts with a lot of grip strength, like heavy lat pulldowns. I'm a 5' 4" woman, and these hooks are much too large for my hands. If the hooks are resting properly over the bar, my hands are too far below the hooks to also grip the bar. This causes the wrist straps to slide up towards my hands, causing rug burn and bruising around my wrists. These will probably work for people with much bigger hands than mine, but I think a lot of women will find that these do more harm than good.

Resulted in injury (updated on Apr. 12, 2017}
I bought these because I thought the concept was practical. At first, they were just okay. I figured there would be some adjustment period. Usually I use the old-school wrist straps. After using these hooks for two weeks, I developed a pain in my right elbow, one that I've never experienced and I've been working out for decades. (Usually I've developed pain in the forearm region). I went to a chiropractor and got a Tens machine. When I place the pads of the area of pain I notice that it always results in a twitching of the right ring and pinkie fingers. Then I recalled that when using these hooks, I emphasized the ring and pinkie fingers. I think it's just how these hooks fall on my hand from the wrist straps. It's a good product, but just not for me. UPDATED APRIL 12, 2107 Harbinger responded to my review and requested that I contact them which I did. Harbinger send to me a website to other Harbinger weight lifting straps and offered to send me a pair of my choosing. I requested the Harbinger Big Grip No-Slip Nylon Lifting Straps with DuraGrip because they were the closest match to the old school weight straps that I have been using for decades. I received them quickly and have been using them since. I find them better than the old school weight straps aforementioned. The DuraGrip on the underside of the straps really do grip the barbell/dumbbell. Harbinger did not ask that I return my original purchase, nor did they charge me for the replacement straps. I do not like the harbinger Lifting Hooks, but I changed my rating based on Harbinger's customer service.

Work!
Not happy with the much shorter wrist strap, and length from hook to hand, but I’ll see over time. Will hold 405 lbs, haven’t bumped it up yet. Width of hooks allow Olympic bars, and the coating seems okay so far. Not for the serious lifter in my opinion.

Terrific Lifting Hooks!
I've been meaning to purchase lifting hooks for a while now and I finally got around to it. I did a lot of research on lifting hooks before I decided to buy this particular model. I wanted something sturdy, strong, and comfortable. When I received this product in the mail I was a little surprised by how far apart the hooks are from each other, and how skinny the hooks were. I was worried that I had invested in the wrong model, but I decided to try it out anyway. I was surprised at how effective these lifting hooks were. They allowed me to lift much heavier weight, with much better form. I also paid close attention to the hooks and they didn't bend at all; these hooks are very sturdy. Also, the part that wraps around your wrist is very comfortable. The material is strong and quality. The rubber around the hooks are very nice as well. The only thing I didn't like was how far apart the hooks were, but this wasn't a big deal. I would definitely recommend these to a friend.

Significantly better than straps!
I've been powerlifting for only about a year, and find that the distraction of worrying about my grip brings bad form, which brings bad results. I have been using straps to augment my grip, but they only help so much. These make the grip rock-solid for heavier lifts, allowing concentration to be on the lift itself. The velcro closure design is quick and easy to put on / take off / adjust - much better than another hook design I have tried. No good for competition, of course, but I don't do that! Would definitely buy again!

Best hooks I've used
Great for weight lifting when your grip starts to go out. Allows me to pull quite a bit more weight when necessary. Very comfortable and easy to turn around away from your grip side when you don't need them without having to take them completely off. However, when you are pulling more than 140, 150 lb weights, do NOT let the hooks do ALL the work because they will start to tear. You have to be able to have some grip strength left to be able to use these heavy. Bought my first pair a while back at Academy. They got stolen from me at a Gold's gym. Went back to Academy to buy new ones and I don't think they carry them anymore. Have used various straps and hooks in the past, these are my favorite, by far...

Great product, helps me squeeze in additional reps of pull ups
It helps me squeeze in additional reps of pull ups of different types. I find that I do not even need to grip the bar as much because some of the load is on my wrists. Care has to be taken when using the strap hooks to as not strain the wrists.

Works with new powerblock sport dumbbells
I wanted to use this for new powerblock sport dumbbells that I got bcz regular straps are impossible to use with powerblock dumbbells. It takes a day to a couple days to figure out how to hook the harbinger hooks into and out of the powerblocks but you learn pretty quick. I’ve been using it for a year, functionally everything is good, but the blue coating at the tips of the hook has started to come off a little.

Great to eliminate forearm pain
This a wrist and forearm saver when training with heavy dumbbells. It is an excellent product. The only small issue is once the hooks are on, you can't get your thumb around the bar for better grip. However, it is not a deal breaker because the hooks do their job of holding on for you. If you need grip assistance, I highly recommend these. A tad pricey, but worth it.
