Great light
I used this on a 10gal aquarium. No longer using that aquarium...but found another use: provides great light for house plants on a shelf! Installed with some velcro adhesive.

The media could not be loaded. Closer to a 3.5 Finnex Stingray 36” on 36” aquarium Out of the box impression: It simply looks great; slim stealthy design with quality appearance. Upon first use: Much dimmer than anticipated. What the Stingray gets right. It's a great looking fixture and oh so slim, if you're looking for ninja lighting this has to be a top contender. The power cord is an impressive seven and half feet long or nearly so at 89 inches, with the ballast at 70 inches. It was able to evenly illuminate the 18 inch wide tank at only two inches above the surface, impressive. The light spectrum is excellent, neither yellow nor blue, offering a nice appearance albeit with limited intensity. Where it missed, for my purposes. It's on a glass 30 breeder, 36x18x12, and I was not seeking a bright fixture for the planned low/mid light plants especially on such a shallow tank. But I literally stood there slack jawed after flicking it on overwhelmed by its...non-brightness. This is my first led fixture and wasn't sure what to expect. I'm sure it will keep low and maybe even mid light plants alive but as far as promoting new growth, that remains to be seen. One reason I chose the Finnex, besides implied brand quality, was the leg brackets it uses which straddle the rim rather than rest on top like some others. This is primarily to keep my curious furball from accidentally pushing it in, same goes for children I imagine. Unfortunately it only partially delivers on this idea. You can see it in the picture but the inside edge of the bracket stops it from going down far enough to get a decent grip with the plastic screws. You only get about 1/8” of grip which can easily be dislodged and while torquing the screws may help it's also likely to lead to early failure from lateral flexing. I'll probably shave/grind down the inside edge allowing it to seat further and call it good. If you don't have any tools for this try rubbing on pavement, cement steps etc. should accomplish the same. While I'm at it I'll add a dab of silicon to the bracket prongs that mount inside the hood to keep them from sliding about. They do have a bit of grip when pushed in, for rimless stuff, but that extra smidgen I need puts it right at the edge of grip where one bump will send it lose and into the water—sinks btw. Overall I do like the light and can tweak the brackets into a more secure fit but the light output is definitely lower than I hoped, even for my low light expectations. Ideally I'd return for a brighter one but I'm being frugal especially around the holidays. I expect I'll post an update to this once I've had it a while. Also a short video of shimmer affect reflected onto wall, open tank, early morning dark corner of home—bonus cat meow :) P.S. Newly set up tank with tannins and black substrate does affect light effectiveness but review was based on being familiar with this scenario. Have no idea how people are posting such brightly lit photos other than the camera doing most of the work. I've been throwing tanks together for 30+ years and kept fresh, salt, planted and reef tanks using everything from crappy shop-lights to blistering metal halides.

Good, but not perfect.
The light output really is good with a nice tone that looks very natural. It really seems pretty neutral with no shift toward any particular color. The fixture itself is small and thin which really makes it disappear on the top of your tank. Sounds like I like it,so why only the four stars instead of five? First the hard wired transformer. I am guessing Finnex has a lot of faith in the quality of transformer it uses since it is not a simple removable item. Most other fixtures have a barrel connection in line that allows for easy transformer replacement. This is one of the most common issues I have seen in LED lights is that these cheap transformers burn out. Hopefully this one lasts. The other reason I like the barrel connection in line is the fact I recently started to use the Current USA Ramp Timer. This item goes in line between the light fixture and transformer and gives a nice dusk/dawn effect when it turns your light on and off. With the hardwired Finnex I can not use this anymore and have to use a plug in timer instead. Second issue, the clear plastic clips included to have the fixture sit on top of the tank. These look good and are designed for a number of different tank rim designs. They even let you remove the inner part for larger frames. Thats great but, they dont tell you anywhere on the box or instructions HOW to do it. It is a clear plastic and looks obvious but it really is not. It has a little C shaped clip to the part that needs to be removed a certain way that you really can not see. You bend it outward and it comes out but you feel like its going to break something. In fact I wonder how many will be broken by people trying to figure it out. Instructions on how to do this should be somewhere.... if in my eagerness to get the light going I missed it, please post a comment for others where you found it. Over all very happy with the build quality and light output of this unit but would not have bought it if I knew I would no longer be able to use my ramp timer. It is a good product but not perfect. If Finnex had decent instructions about their clip and if it had a removable transformer I would have gave it five stars.

No es lo que esperaba. Si ilumina bien. La altura de mi acuario es de 50 cm. Y llega más o menos bien al fondo. Pero por el precio debería ser mucho mejor. Veremos como le va con las plantas.

Alumbra muy bien la utilice para un plantado de 20 litros e ilumina completamente el acuario el único problema es que demoró más de lo acordado por problemas aduanales

excelente lampara led aunque seria mejor si trajera opciones de encendido y apagado es decir solo azules solo rojas o solo blancas
