Great little LCR meter
You might be surprised at how non-ideal some of the electronic components you use really are. An ordinary digital voltmeter will tell you that your aluminum electrolytic is 4.7 uF, but the Extech 380193 will also tell you it has 2 ohms of series resistance -- a killer in the high current pulse generator I am designing. I got some pricey ceramic capacitors and found they have only 0.05 ohms resistance. Ahhh ... so that's why they cost 20x as much. How about that 0.05 ohm resistor used to sample current flow? Try measuring that with your standard DVM -- mine won't go below 0.3 ohms if I short the probes together. Plugging the resistor into the Extech shows it to be 0.047 ohms. Yes, this meter seems expensive at first glance, but try finding another LCR meter for anywhere near the price -- many cost 3 or 4 times as much. No, it's not perfect. Measurement frequencies are 120 Hz and 1000 Hz, a higher option would be nice. The keyboard is one of those rubber ones; sometimes I have to push pretty hard before the key registers. Still, if you need the component data an LCR meter will provide, the Extech 380193 is a pretty good deal.

Great Device
Yes, it is expensive... but it is a great electronic device. It comes with test leads, protective case shield, a 9 volt battery, a manual, an RS232 optical cable for data acquisition and software for the computer interface. It measures the R, L and C of components and gives options for Series or Parallel testing at 2 frequencies of 120Hz and 1KHz. In Addition it will give the Q, D and R of the component being tested (Quality Factor, Dissipation Factor and Resistance, respectively). It also has Automatic power off for battery life, record modes, Auto-Ranging, Tolerance setting, HI/Lo Limit setting, and Ave Reading options. It is a very well built Meter. The back lighting is not extremely bright and the display has a lot of images, therefore, some of the symbols are somewhat small, although hi-resolution. So you may have to squint a little if you have bad eyes... mine are fine... but I am just trying to give as much info as I can. All in all... I really love this device.. I plan to use it extensively. My background is that of an Electrical Engineer and Mechanical Designer in the Aerospace Industry.

Great meter, at an affordable price
in our factory, we used to have an expensive LCR meter. After 15 years it broke, and repair was more than $350, so we bought this Extech LCR for measuring capacitors that we use in our products. At the low price, I was leary, but gave it try. Works great! Does what we need, checks out accurate with our standards, and a price lower than the repair of the old machine. Couldn't be happier. We use it everyday, for about an hour, and 9V battery lasts about 4-6 weeks. Some day we might get the power adapter. In summary, it's way better than you'd expect for a $200 device. After several months of use, I have no complaints...a good purchase.

Ready right out off the box.
First time I've ever needed one of these. This came highly recommended. And now I see why. Eat if use right out off the box. More capabilities than I'll ever need. Great to install loops. Measurements as good as gold!

It works really well!
For the price, you won't find anything better. I compared the readings with one of my more costly meters Agilent and it was right on accurate. I just keep it on the bench to test hand wound coils, and parts that are not marked well. Works really well, and I use it on daily basis with parts that are too small to read, and parts that I make for myself.

Expensive meter at an affordable price
I love this meter for it's functionality and ease of use. Tested accurate against a known bench standard. For the price it was a bargain

Nice meter
The quality of this meter is very good and the controls and display are easy to understand. This meter cannot measure DC resistance. Extech technical support advised me to get their LCR200, which does measure DCR, though it's not obvious from the description on Amazon or their own web site. It does spell it out in the user's manual, which is available for download on the Extech web site.

The one-The only.
Cant beat it for the price. Been using it for over 10 years with no issues.

Not happy with this product
Not happy with this product. Readings are unreliable. Inductance measurement keeps varying which makes this meter unusable. I should have returned the product but due to lack of time I did not. Do not recommend this product. Although I have used Extech in the past. They are not all bad.

Worth its weight in gold! Well maybe that would be too expensive.
It is a professional grade tool. I've purchased two other LCR meters that were useless. This one is as advertised.
