This is a great item for home use finding all the cold spots in my house
I live in an 1880's house that is about as air tight as a net. Using this, I went through the house testing radiators, the walls, the floors, around the windows, the basement, the attic... you get the idea. Amazing how much temperature difference there is all over the place. I found a wall with probably no insulation, one section of floor that is almost 10 degrees colder and radiators that were not getting up to the same temperature as the others. How accurate is it? Who knows, but for me it was all about relative temperatures so it's perfect. This is the most fun AND helpful tool I've bought in a long time. Of course now I have to fix all of those issues.. For basically a $20 bill you can easily and quickly find spaces in your house that need some attention. The best part? I haven't even played with half the settings yet, looking forward to getting even more information. Very easy to read, fast readings and lightweight. As a bonus, it turns out the dog does indeed like to chase lasers... 5 stars for home use, a no-brainer purchase. This thing rocks.

Ease of use
I am so glad I got this. I thought I knew the temps in my terrariums but after using this I learned a lot! Know where the hot spots are and the cool spots. Temps were not what the reader on the tank said. Definitely get if you have reptiles for accuracy of heat and basking!

Better than the ooni thermometer imo
I got an ooni oven and ordered a bunch of accessories from both amazon and ooni to compare and decide which ones to keep. I was surprised in many cases. The ETEKCITY thermometer is better in my opinion and costs 1/2 as much. I compared both thermometers with a pot of hot water and digital thermometer touching the bottom. All 3 thermometers were accurate within 2 degrees id say. The ETEKCITY feels better to hold with nice matte grip and takes a 9v battery which makes it more hefty. The ooni has a light cheap plastic feel, that you could easily fumble and it would break. Most importantly the ooni beeps when you get the temp read and I don't think you can turn it off. The ooni display is also overkill in my opinion whereas the ETEKCITY is classic backlit digital with no beep. I found there is no substitution for the ooni peels, they are solid tools worth investing in. I don't think ooni is reinventing the wheel with the termometer though.

It does what is supposed to do, measures temperature accurately.
I took some pictures to show the idea of what to expect. Warning this thermometer is not for body temperature, only for surfaces. It came with 2 AAA batteries and worked right away, was easy to switch Fahrenheit to Celsius, and shows about the same temperature as my two clocks with a temp feature. Lightweight with a back-lit screen perfect in a dark environment. Hit like so others can decide.

Very useful
I've been using this to check temperature for making my own yogurt, as I need to make sure the milk is cooled to 100f. This has worked out great and my yogurt batches are coming out much more consistent than before when I was just winging it.

Is it hot, let's find out
I bought this to know when my griddle is ready for that satisfying sizzle. Point, shoot, read. Does not get much easier

Useful tool that works as advertised.
You will pay about $99 for a similar infrared thermometer in a retail store, and I paid around $20 for this one. It is a relatively simple device that allows you to obtain a temperature measurement by pointing it at an object without touching it. This one includes all of the needed features such as a laser pointer to help you get it pointed at the right place and the ability to switch between metric and imperial measure, and all of these features work as expected. Temperature accuracy is at least as good as other IR Thermometers that I have used. I have used another one for years in a Chassis Dyno shop to check exhaust temperatures, coolant lines, and brake components which are too hot to touch and important in the diagnostic process, but there are lots of uses for these thermometers. Besides the in-shop tasks my other main use for a tool like this is to check tire and wheel hub temperatures on a towed trailer. Keeping an eye on these temperatures is an important way to avoid disaster while on the road, and one of the things I really like about this particular IR Thermometer is the very compact design that fits easily inside the glove box. If you are into 3D printing you might be tempted to use an IR Thermometer like this to check nozzle and print bed temperatures, but they are not really the right tool for that. Use a touch style sensor with a multimeter for those applications. To sum things up, this is a useful tool that does what it says it does at a bargain basement price. I would not hesitate to buy it again or recommend it to you.

Must Have to Pizza Oven
Works great and use it all the time when cooking pizza. One star off as there's a 2 second lag when turning on, not sure if all thermometers are like this. Gets a bit annoying when adjusting oven/stone temp. Still great for the price.

Very Happy with this Laser Thermometer.
Good value, fair price, good quality and very accurate. I tried several tests and the accuracy is amazing. The display is good, however if there was one small comment for an improvement would be for the display digits to be a little larger and brighter, but still they are not too hard to read at all. Maybe it's my age, lol, that I would like to see the digits larger. I wouldn't hesitate to buy this product again or to recommend it. A great tool to have in the kitchen or the barbcue to make cooking more enjoyable and successful. Enjoy!

Well thought out design and excellent quality
Ready to go! The unit conveniently comes with a 9V battery (inside the unit, but not attached - on each side of the unit at the level of the trigger there are indents for your fingers to pull the handle open to access and install the battery). Once the battery is installed simply pull the trigger once to turn it on, then point and 'shoot' (using the handy laser as a guide). The screen on the back is clear and easy to read, and there is a thumb button which turns on a cool blue light to read it in dark areas. With the second thumb button you can easily toggle between degrees centigrade and Fahrenheit (and you can change it before or after the reading which is a nice touch). Lastly, for those who are uncomfortable with the laser, yes - you can turn it off (third thumb button). To get the most accurate values you should read the included instructions which explain the optimal distance to measure the temperature (and why) and this is diagrammed on the side of the unit for easy future reference. The unit conveniently turns off automatically when not in use. It is a nice compact size, and is covered with a comfortable-to-grip surface. You can see that a lot of thought has gone into every aspect of its design and I am very happy with it. Note that it is important to realize that it cannot measure internal temperatures (i.e. do not use it to check if your steak is ready or to see if you have a fever). After determining the temperature of everything I could point it at in my house (new toy!) I put it to use for the main purpose I bought it for - making soap (hot process), and it is perfect. I paid for this product and it was worth it - great value for the money.
