Works great!
I was trying to use the magnetic bowls but kept stabbing my self when reaching in to get a pin. I got these and they work great. Holds the pins in one direction and are easy to grab. Nice plastic cover to store them when not in use.

Awesome Pin Caddy. Bigger and Better than I was expecting.
This caddy is way bigger than what I thought it would be and I love it. The magnet in it is strong, strong! When I have it sitting on my ironing board (which is often), it holds the whole caddy still because the magnet is sticking to the metal through the ironing board cover. I also purchased a 250 pack of IBC glass head silk pins in this order and the entire pack of pins fits in this caddy. They do not all fit in the top compartment but the caddy also has a convenient removable compartment on the bottom underneath the magnet. (it is not 'obvious' how to remove this from the bottom of the magnet so take care-it slides over then comes off) I really like this feature as I am able to keep the magnetic main compartment where I am pinning/ironing and I keep the removable compartment next to my sewing machine while I am actually sewing and I put the pins in it as I pull them from the project. This ensures all my glass head pins stay where they need to be and I don't have to remember to carry the caddy everywhere I go as part of it is always within arm's reach. Surprisingly large and magnet is very strong. This product exceeds my expectations! Seller shipped quickly and with a Prime Membership it was at my door in 2 days.

Don't know how I lived without this in my sewing room!
The idea behind this is truly excellent. When I was a teenager I thought having a wrist pincushion was mighty brilliant, but this magnetic pin caddy far exceeds brilliance where keeping track and picking up pins is concerned. First, it comes with a certain number of flathead type pins filed neatly in the little side drawer, but they aren't the type of pins I normally use, so those were immediately stuck away in my old tomato pincushion. Second, this is a hard plastic, and a hefty dish with a powerful magnet in the bottom. Third, I would be lying if I said I didn't go around the house dropping all kinds of pins, paperclips, nails, other metal doodads, and little bits in order to test the magnetic reach of the caddy. I really LOVE tossing pins in the general direction of it while sewing - pins sometimes make a strange arc and realign themselves in the center of the tray right next to all of their friends. It's amusing and much more fun than I had in middle school home ec class, where not surprisingly, they discourage pin tossing antics. Finally, I don't recommend or condone the casual throwing about of pins and other sharp, small objects, but if you must then make sure the small children and animals are properly supervised and out of harms way.

Great pin caddy
I love this pin caddy. It holds my pins securely so they are available when I need them. No more pins falling to the floor only to disappear and be found much later by bare feet. It holds more than enough for a project in the top (I think I have about 100 pins on the top), magnetic portion and holds at least 200 more pins in the "hidden" container underneath (while the description says it's hidden, it's not really - it's just stored securely underneath the magnetic portion). The cover fits securely over the top for safe storage and transport and fits on the bottom, under the storage well, when the caddy is in use. I'm not crazy about the pins that came with the caddy they are rather dull and tend to snag the fabric. Since I already had pins that I like, I bought the caddy as a place to store them.

Love the cover
This is a great little magnetic pincushion. I love the cover concept. I didn’t think I’d have a need for it but we babysat a cat recently that loves to get into everything. Having a cover on it so that I can have it out close at hand but not have to pay attention constantly to see if the cat gets into it is awesome. I imagine it would be the same with children. So convenient having a little slot to put the pins into. The pins align very nicely for easy pick up.

Love this
If you sew you need this. Maybe a few of these. At least one for pins, one for sewing needles, one for safety pins etc. The magnet will pull pins right through the cap. It's way way way better than a pincushion.

These Exist? Thank Heavens!
You'd think that after years of dabbling in sewing I'd know these types of pin holders exist. However, I did not. And boy, was I missing out. Purchased prior to a sewing class and during our first lesson I could not stop throwing pins onto this caddy just for kicks. After years of sewing and always finding and/or stepping on pins well after cleaning up - finding this little contraption solved the problem entirely. An added bonus is when hand sewing - I can easily throw the needles onto the caddy when changing thread or working on projects requiring switching between the machine and hand sewing. Apparently this have been around forever (in various forms), and I am so glad I found it. You won't be disappointed. The ONLY con is that I wish the bottom storage compartment fit an entire box of glass headed dressmaking pins (300 pin pack). It does hold about 200 or so. Oh well, you can't have everything! Ha! Time to ditch the time-honored yet unsightly tomatoes and plastic, wrist-injuring poofs of doom.

Nice, but the cap could be taller and base bigger.
This is pretty nice, but it doesn't hold many pins on top because the cap is very flush to the unit. I bought three of these. Since the bottom doesn't hold many extra pins, I can't use it for replacements or a different pin type, just for the rest of what I need in that pin type. So my pins are now more scattered around in storage than before. But at least if I drop it, the pins won't get flung across the floor, like the other magnet brand I used previously. I recommend this only for sewing when you need smaller quantities. And if you're a quilter, don't even think about it. I couldn't get half my box of longer quilt pins inside, even using both compartments. But I do give this a good rating and recommend it. It's a good idea, just needs a larger storage base and taller cap.

One of my most used tools
I can't praise enough this small tool: lovely colour, strong magnet, clever design (the middle slit is useful). I am using it everyday. I love the little compartment for tiny accessories.

Handy, has extra storage, and has the great safety feature of automatically aligning pins - no pricking fingers!
Loving this pin caddy! I've always used the classic tomato pincushion, which is okay, but this gadget is exceptional. I never have to worry about stray pins, as it pretty much nabs the pin out of my hand as I hover over it, with little chance of dropping a pin anywhere near the thing. If I do drop a pin, I just pick up this caddy and run it over the area, and it picks it up right away. Two other great features, other than it's magnetic, is that the magnets inside keep the pins perfectly aligned, so they're not all willy-nilly,and there's no chance of being pricked if you grab pins by putting your finger in the centre groove. The other feature I really like is the handy little storage drawer built into the bottom. It's a great place to keep more, or even different pins or needles.

Magnet is amazing, pins easy to grab, drawer is meh.
Works like a charm, easy to pick up pins and stash them away. The drawer is a bit cumbersome to slide in and out but it stores the pins well. The pins the caddy comes with are garbage, so stick to your own!

Happy with it.
Very well designed. A bit pricey though
