Fit perfect but packaging needs improvement

Hitch was easy to install with excellent quality and finish. It came shipped loose in a large box and should have been wrapped up better. All the negatives comments are because of the shippers packaging and handling. It came with bolts and washers that I didn't use, I used the existing bolts. Maybe Instead of supplying the bolts they should package better?

Horrible packaging

Product fine, but came in an open beat up box. I had no idea if the post office should have even accepted it. Luckily the bolts were taped well to the hitch.

Easy to install

This is a great hitch and relatively easy to install. (I have a 2013 Prius V). First off, it comes with very detailed, clear installation instructions. You just need a 17mm and 19mm socket wrench and a short extension. You’re just unbolting and then reinstalling four bolts. Two are super easy to access, the other two are a bit tight to the exhaust. One of those I needed a plain open ended wrench for. But overall very doable little project in an hour or so. No issues at all with the hitch having to be pounded on to adjust the size like some mentioned.

2012 Prius Pulled a 2000lb Uhaul from Georgia to Maine

My husband and I recently moved to Maine and needed a way to move our apartment w/ a queen bed. We planned on using his Civic…before hitting a cow on a rural road right before the move. So, we bought a hitch for my 2012 Prius instead. As long as you have a torque wrench and a heavy duty drill, the installation is a breeze! Uhaul was skeptical about my car’s ability to pull the 5x8, but rented it to us anyway. On the 1500 mile journey pulling a 2000lb packed trailer, my gas mileage was cut in half, but the hitch held up perfectly and so did the car! So if you’re wondering if it’ll hold bikes or Seadoos or a 5x8 Uhaul, the answer is absolutely!!!

4 bolts

Super easy to install. I’m not towing heavy weight but the hitch looks like it would if you wanted to. It’s just 4 bolts. If you have the tools this is about a 10 minute process. If you don’t, it’s still a10 minute process so don’t let the installer rip you off. I’ll probably take it off before I sell the car because who wants a Prius that was used to tow stuff? LOL

Good but.....

Nice, strong and sturdy!!! BUT... it came scratched up with two deep scratches that will definitely rust. I called Amazon and told them and they discounted the item for me so I decided to keep it. I went to Walmart and bought touch of paint and now it's as good as new. It was a pain to install this thing because you have to drop the exhaust and on the driver side the bracket has to fit into this narrow plastic area which complicates the install process! But it's on now and looks and works great. I use it to hold my hollywood double bike rack which carries my full suspension MTB and my road bike.

Be aware that the product may have been bent during shipping thus shorting the length

Be aware that the product may have been bent during shipping Like some of the reviewers, this trailer hitch should be 38' in length, when i received it, I didn't think twice and went ahead and tried to install. To my surprise, it didn't fit, it was about an inch and half too short! Re-reading the reviews, someone else received this product short of 38'. I was ready to return and have another shipped out however it was no guarantee that it would arrive at the correct length. Also, I couldn't wait another 10 days for the replacement, I went ahead to tried some steps that other reviewers mentioned. I took a heavy mallet and banged out the 2 ends while measuring progress, after about 30 mins of banging away with a mallet, I was at 37', so another 10 mins banging away i was able to bend it to 38' and was able to install. I know this sounds crazy but I really think potential customers should be aware, the installation is solid however. I wish Curt would have better packaging so the trailer hitch won't be affect in transit.

Could not install - It was bent - Bad ship

Well this company has a long history of selling their customers bent hitches and unfortunately I got one. It was off by about an inch alignment. The packaging was not enough and there was a whole on the side of the box. Successful return. As some others have mentioned I noticed that the heat shield needed to be cut or bent for it to be flush mounted on a 2013 prius plugin. Did not reorder because I figure I'm not going to be transporting my bike much and I can fit my bicycle in the back of my 2013 prius with seats folded down and both tires kept on and strap it to the hooks if needed. The hitch looks strong though. I also figured it would be a hassle to attach a cheap bike rack from ebay that would wobble and need a hitch tightener to be safer and that would require tightening and loosening the 2 bolts i assume for that plus the other bolt.

Great hitch- but man I am not a mechanic!

People who are more mechanical than I talk about this being an easy install. I found it pretty tough, especially installing the driver's side bolts, so high and hard to access on a Prius. Fortunately I'd borrowed a great set of socket wrenches with different lengths and adapters. Without those I'd have given up. I actually almost bailed- called my Toyota dealership at one point and was told "We don't install aftermarket hitches". Fair enough. It took me hours and some stress but I got it done. I've changed batteries and tires and cabin filters etc. on my Prius, those are easy jobs. This, for me, is not. That said, this is a quality hitch.

Inexpensive and Easy to Install (No Mechanic Required)

I bought one of these for my 2014 Prius V to pair with a CURT 18110 Cargo Carrier. I had initially investigated purchasing something like this from an Auto Parts store and having them install it but I'm really glad that I didn't do that. I would have paid 20% more for the hitch and added $75-100 for labour when in reality, this is 4 bolts. I am not mechanically inclined at all, but had this successfully installed within 30 minutes with the tools I had on hand. Save yourself the money and install this yourself. I would recommend buying a can of some form of spray on rust protection. There's nothing worse than seeing a car that's in good shape with a rusty trailer hitch hanging off the back.

Straightforward installation, great looking product

This was an easy installation, especially for a guy who is not mechanically minded. Once I figured out how to remove the rubber clip that holds the exhaust in place it was very straightforward. Four bolts and I was good to go.
