It's an exact fit. Which means a tight installation process. Patience is key. Well worth it!
This was installed by me (30/yo F) who has moderate carpentry and mechanic training on a 2022 Honda hrv sport (4wd). The fit is tight so you'll be doing some jiggling of things to get the frame seated. The toughest part is placing the passenger side mount which IS POSSIBLE without lowering the exhaust. You'll just have to start on the passenger side and slide it in from over the back of the muffler forward to the frame bolt site. At that point I also suggest keeping the guiding thread line on your carriage bolt and threading that through the hitch mount hole to keep things aligned. Dont thread the passenger side first. Finally you can lift and fully mount the driver's side and the middle recovery point. Then all that's left is squeezing your hands up over the muffler to thread the last bolt.

Solid, and Open-Back means some Class 2 Stuff can Fit; Muffler Mounts a Bit Tricky During Install
Very happy with the overall hitch -- it is heavy and sturdy and the installation instructions were clear. During install you must remove two rubber muffler mounts -- they came off pretty easily with a pliers and some WD40. I was able to install it by myself, though I think a second person would be helpful when lifting the hitch onto the frame. Like other reviewers, I had an issue re-attaching the muffler mounts. The hitch completely gets in the way and it looks almost impossible to re-attach it. However, I found that the rubber pieces are much more stretchy than I thought: adding some more WD40 and tugging on it with a pliers, I was able to really bend & stretch the mount until I was able to reattach the muffler. That one part is really unclear in the instructions and can be tricky for some people so I docked a star. But on the plus side, the hitch has an open back instead of a welded stop like some other Class 1 hitches. I was worried as a lot of accessories might not work on Class 1 hitches if they need to be inserted the full amount (which is the standard depth of a Class 2, 3, 4, and 5 hitch). But the open back meant that I could use accessories designed for Class 2 on here (like a bike rack).

Actually... Four and one-half stars. ????
This was not my first hitch installation on a compact model Honda so I was not at all apprehensive. I installed one three years ago on a Honda Fit and, recently, this one on a 2018 Honda HR-V. I did both installations alone. With exception of a couple of aggravations, I am satisfied with the hitch and installation process. The instructions seemed a bit vague for figuring out where to cut into the splash panel on the left side to find the mounting holes. I simply bolted the right side loosely, pushed the left hitch mount to the panel and scratched out cutting lines. I used aviation tin snips to cut a small hole in order to check the match. Then I expanded the hole for a perfect fit. (See last photo) The muffler mounts were a bit frustrating to remove. I didn't have any trouble on the other car. Later, I learned that there is a tool made for assisting in this function. The biggest aggravation was in trying reinsert the inside muffler mount. With the hitch in place there seems simply no way to get enough space to start the rubber mounting grommet over the end of the muffler mount. (See first photo) The outside mount (See second photo) was no problem at all. My solution was not the way that I like to do things but it is getting me by. I simply zip-tied the muffler mount to the rubber grommet. (See third photo) Overall, I am satisfied. In hindsight, however, I might have bought the same brand of hitch that I put on the other Honda three years ago. It gave no problem at all. I purchased the Curt hitch, this time, over the other brand because it appeared to be, and is, more heavily built that the other brand. Ultimately, that could be important because I'll be towing more weight with this car than with the smaller car.

Great Hitch! Learn from my mistakes installing...
Took a bit of time to install this, but it looks quite good. I did this all without having to jack the car up and just with a creeper so I didn't have to lay on the ground for too long. The 3 lessons I learned was that I would like to impart to the next person to install this are: 1. Use some sort of lubricant to get the rubber hanger mounts off. 2. Don't remove the bolts from the fishing tool until you have everything in position. There's a really good reason why there are two in there! 3. Don't forget the mounting plate goes inside the support beams. I had a hard time telling from the instructions and had to fish it back in. I think the most challenging part of the entire install was the very end when I had to somehow stretch back in the exhaust into the hanger port again. Now as for the actual hitch itself, what can I say? It's a Curt, the finish is very nice on it and the overall product is extremely sturdy. The only negative for me personally is that it's a 1.25" vs 2" hitch. I don't plan on doing anything towing, but the bike rack selection for a 2" hitch is better. I have an 2016 HR-V EX-L AWD so I luckily did not need to do any modifications to my car in order to install this. The instructions I got did warn you that you need to pull out some sort of cutting tool to modify the heat shield. Overall I'd say buy this if you're in the market for a hitch.

Zip tie Installation Hack saved me!
Sturdy and solid product, and I'll echo what everyone else said about installation. I disconnected all three muffler hangers to give more room to try to get the difficult one back on and still struggled greatly until I tried one awesome trick. The muffler hanger nearest to the hitch was almost impossible to get on, until I put a zip tie through it and locked it and used that as a handle to pull the muffler hanger straight down into a place where I could slip the muffler right in. After a lot of struggle, the ease of the solution made me laugh like an evil maniac and my wife thought something was seriously wrong with either me or the car or both. I should have taken a video, but the zip tie trick worked so well. Once the muffler was secured, I simply cut the zip tie and pulled it out.

Easy Install...
Installed on my 2019 Honda HR-V Sport AWD. Easy installation, took me an hour! Didn't even have to bend/modify the muffler heat shield! Perfect fit, fast delivery!
