Worked as advertised.
Had been having problems losing connection when updating my Nuvi 2597 with my original Garmin cord. Purchased this model and it maintained connection and the update was faster than any previous update.

It WORKED on my Garmin NUVI 2599, updating as I write this
I bought my Garmin NUVI in November 2015. Had no problem doing updates. Recently, I wiped out the programming and reinstalled the software..... just cuz..... Noticed it worked a lot faster when I did that. Well, then a week ago I tried to do an update and COULD NOT! The problem I was having is my computer recognized the Garmin device and would show the drive in Explorer, but the software could not recognize that it was connected. OH DEAR! I googled and discovered it could be that the cable went bad. So I crossed my fingers and ordered this. Plugged it in, fired up the software, and IT WAS RECOGNIZING THE DEVICE RIGHT AWAY! I am updating my maps right now! And it's only going to take 30 minutes, not a freaking 2 hours! Of course, I have Windows 10 now.... I have no idea why they are asking us to rate sheerness and thickness. IT'S A DARN CABLE! I put NO rating on "Sheer" and 1 star to show it was about as thick as you would expect. Actually, I think this is a better cable than what I originally got when I bought the device. It is thicker. But both ends were correct for the connections. I am glad the description said GARMIN CABLE cuz I had ordered another one where it appeared to be right, but I wasn't sure, and when I found this, I cancelled the previous order and got this instead.

Many Garmin Devices require 5 Amps.
I found this cable to be a perfect replacement for my Garmin devices. Most of the "will not charge..." comments are the result in inadequate power source. My Drive 61 requires 5 amps to charge. Most auto USB receptacles deliver 2 or 2.1 amps. Even some wall chargers have the same limitations. This cable is not at fault. The power source is the limitation, but the device can't tell the difference. It only knows it is starving and blames the cable. My only problem is the durability. These cables have very fine wires to maximize flexibility and cannot handle vibration. My antique car (1930) vibrates because the engine can't be perfectly balanced like modern cars. If you provide sufficient power from your source this cable is a perfect replacement. I just wish the wire strands were a little heftier.

Works Great!
I was trying to update my Garmin Nuvi 50 with a power cable - I didn't know there was a difference! Now I'm able to download maps and updates with the use of this cord and a micro memory chip (2gb to 32gb maximum). Thanks a bunch, Amazon!

Hadnt used my Garmin nuvi 2597 lmt in a few years went to find the cable to update and it was gone. Thought for sure it would be hard to find and then also thought I wonder if Garmin will recognize it since it's been 3 PC's ago and the program was long gone. DL Garmin express, plugged everything in and bingo DL all the software updates and then got all the new maps. Happy camper.

Genuine Garmin cable
I'm not sure why there are many reviews saying it won't transfer data, it's not a Garmin cable, it doesn't work ... none of this is true of the cable I received. It transfers data, charges the GPS, and in every way I can tell, works just like the original Garmin cable. Tested on a GPSMAP 64SC. There are also a few reviews from people who mistakenly thought their inability to buy the correct cable meant that there was something wrong with the cable itself ... and therefore rated their competency in buying the correct product instead ... so look at the pictures ... if it's not the same as what your device uses, then don't buy it. But for the rest of us, yes, it works just fine.

On a recent trip I lost the cord for my Garmin Nuvi 2589. I orderd this as a replacement and it worked great. Updates downloaded onto my GPS device easily. Happy with purchase.

Does what it should, and well made.
PSP - Price, Shipping, Packaging were good. Certainly less expensive than proprietary products. DESIGN AND FUNCTION - performs as it should, unlikely to wear or break with moderate use. I could easily recommend this product.

The length is short
Arrived perfect and in great time. It is used for my Garmin GPS in car. Unfortunately, the cord is too short and GPS sits in my cup holder not on the dashboard which would make it easier to look at. Other than the shortness of cord it works fine.
