Works great, but photos don't show true orientation

The cable works great, as most StarTech products seem to. I have no complaints about the actual USB functionality. However, I did want to report that I've bought two of these and neither of them match the photos. The listing shows that the connectors are both oriented in the standard way, with the plug's pins facing up and the socket's pins facing down -- so that, if the cable were long enough, you could plug one end into the other without twisting it. But on the ones I have, the connectors are oriented in opposite directions, which means that one of the devices has to be plugged in "upside down" relative to the other. This is probably not a big deal if you're using it with something that has a long cable of its own, like a keyboard or printer, but it makes it unsuitable for my needs, since I'm trying to extend a device with an integrated male plug (no cable), and it's difficult to use properly if it's not facing the right way. It's possible that the orientation varies between cables, depending on how they're manufactured, but I wouldn't rely on that.

Sturdy and Very good, short in length

The media could not be loaded. It is around 3.7 inches long and perfectly fit to USB A female holder. I bought it to attach USB car perfume diffuser. I personally think adding 1-2 additional inches will be great as wire is sturdy and strong. I recommend this product.

Perfect where it's needed

My monitor has a built in USB hub but all the ports are on the back making it a pain to plug anything in. With these I can just reach behind, grab one, and plug something in to it. They're short and stiff enough that when nothing is plugged in they don't dangle beneath the bottom, keeping aesthetic clutter to a minimum. I was a little worried that the plastic extending around the female end before I ordered; I thought it might prevent some devices from being fully plugged in. I am happy to report however that I have had no issues plugging in any USB drives or other devices. In addition do being as advertised and working correctly, it is definitely constructed a step above your average cable. The plastic molding on the ends is thick and feels well made. The female end especially would provide good resistance to being stepped on over other extension cables with bare ends. This isn't of concern to me, but it's good to feel like the product is robust. In addition to the ends the cable its self seems sturdy and thicker than most "cheap" cables. I would, however, expect this cable to be well made, and this brings me to my only con: the price. At the time of purchase this cable costs slightly more than a 10 foot Amazon Basics USB 3.0 extension cable. When you consider this cable cost more than one 20 times longer, the price seems a little high. On the other hand, I'm sure 6" USB cables are in a much lower demand than more typical lengths so the price is somewhat excusable. In the end it's a matter of a few dollars, though, so I don't consider it a big deal. I bought one to see if it fit my needs, and purchased two more when I decided it did.

JUST THE JOB

This useful piece of kit, attached to the usb port, lets me avoid having to get behind my computer every time I want to attach my wire from my VR headset. It extends out to the side of the pc, much easier to access.

These startech products are of good quality you can buy cheaper but the quality won't be there so I highly recommend these startech products

Bought for embroidery machine

Bought this to save me damaging the USB port on my embroidery machine with constant use of USB Pen drive - this stays plugged in, and I just plug the pen drive into this when required.

If you need for data transfer speeds then this is not the cable you need

This cable is so slow, not all cables are created the same, if you are using for data transfer then this does not meet the spec of 3.0, if you just want to charge you iPhone then its would be fine lol Waste of money for my external SSD, look elsewhere.

Good accessory

Purchased this to save on wear of the USB socket when travelling. I did have another used in the past but it was too long, this is much better
