Great water filter for high levels of hardness.
I initially bought this since my towns water is really hard. I know this as I'm trying to restart my low tech aquarium hobby. This requires some knowledge about your own tap water. When I go about testing my water. My test kit out of the tap is about 375 ppm. It's majority calcium from what I believe since I have quite a bit of calcium build up on my faucets and shower heads. The included TDS reader reads my tap water at 389 ppm. Running the tap water through the filter reduces the hardness down to almost zero; 3 ppm to be exact. My test kit doesn't read that low. This is perfect for my aquarium and for general drinking use. We switched from a Britta filter to Zero water because the water tastes THAT much better. Happy with my purchase. For those who suggest a water softener for the house. I'm told that it's not ideal since my town has a low water pressure rating and adding anything would lower it greatly. I prefer good water pressure for my showers. The only think I can complain about this filter is that the filler cap is really small and I often miss or even over fill causing it to spill over by the pitcher handle. I'd buy another pitcher if they had redesigned this. But for now this will have to do.

A must for hard water areas!
I bought the picture because where I live, we have had water and have to use water softener. I did a TDS test on the water here and it was over 400!, that was with a filter. I bought the zero water picture and when done, it was a zero. The water tasted better. I use it to make my own bottled water for work, I drink it at home and I use it to cook with. I wish now I would have bought the larger one, but I didn't have room for it. The filter last me 2-3 weeks depending on use. I use a lot of water. I wish the filters were cheaper, but when it comes to taste, I will pay for the filters. Without this picture, I am buying water. With the picture, I don't have to worry about running out of water. I make sure I have filters on hand. Highly recommend. After my TDS test at work, some of my co-workers went out and bought the zero water pictures or the cup.

Pitcher Leaks at Base - RESOLVED
ZeroWater Customer Service is good! I got the filter pitcher, but then found out that the pitcher was defective, and leaked at the bottom, wasting filtered water and making a mess. I emailed customer service and linked my order number, and within 3 days I received a response email and another email saying that my replacement package was on the way. I asked for a new pitcher, since the filter was fine, but today I received a complete 10-cup item, including both filter and pitcher. This pitcher does not leak. It does seem to have the same design at the base of the handle, only this replacement pitcher is sealed where the opaque plastic handle piece meets the transparent plastic handle section, so I'm not wasting filtered water with this pitcher. All things considered, I'm very pleased with this purchase. A tip for carrying it when you have water in the upper chamber waiting to go through the filter- don't try to hold it perfectly upright and perpendicular to the ground. Your walking will slosh some water up and out onto your hand. Instead, just let it tilt a little bit forward, as there is no opening there in the top. This is a comfortable design for carrying it, but I did spill some water because I was trying to be careful when carrying it. Original Review: I just received the item yesterday, and I tried it out. The filter works great, but the pitcher into which the water is filtered and dispensed has a hole in the bottom at the base of the handle. Apparently other people have had this issue as well. I have sent an email to customer support, and will update my review when or if I hear back and when or if I get a replacement pitcher which does not have a gap which causes water to spill at a rather fast rate. Update: I received a response to my email on the third business day after my email was sent. I responded promptly to their follow-up email confirming the details of my pitcher size and mailing address, and within 5 minutes, I received another email saying my order for 1 free replacement pitcher was confirmed. I will update again when I receive the replacement.

OMG!
What an eye opener! The package comes with a map showing what your level of particles run in your state Mine was supposed to run around 300.....it was 554! Now, it's zero with this filter. I'm sure I'm going to have to change them more often due to the water grade in Illinois but it's worth it just wished they made a bigger size picture with a top pouring spout so I could fill the coffee pot in one swoop. I still use my old Pur to pre filter my water before filling this one. Might as well use them up.

Excellent filtering of impurities
Having been using this every day for our coffee water, drinking water and sometimes even cooking water. Have had it several weeks using the original filter and are still getting 000 dissolved solids in the water. Removes "tastes" from the water which makes me more likely to drink it and stay hydrated. Love that I can check the filter's condition with the included Total Dissolved Solids meter included. NOTE: how long the filter lasts is dependent on the amount of "solids" currently in your tap water (calcium, magnesium, iron, sodium chloride and sulfides and other stuff you definitely don't want!)

great.
works great. I did not have issue with filling or pouring as other reviewers mention. Works fine for me. The water measuring device works fine as well, I used it to measure different types of water in the house and it all works. Some reviewers were mentioning that the water device does not work, but mine seem to work just fine.

3 stars because of my situation, better than drinking fluoride, but there's cheaper options.
I've started buying Reverse Osmosis water from Canadian Tire as it's $2 a week instead of $10-14 for water. These take up much less room than 4-5 18L jugs though. I have 400-500 TDS tap water, so filters last 5-7 days, or 10-11 days when I pre-filter with my second jug and old filters. I drink 3-4L a day and am the only one who uses it. The short filter length wouldn't be so bad If it didn't start to taste like cement/fish when the filter reaches it's end. I'd still like to use them at 80-90% filtration but as soon as it goes, it goes... If you have bad water like me, are on a budget, and aren't going to pre filter, then don't get this. Install a real filter if you have money/own a home. Or get reserve osmosis refills at a store, it's $1 for 18L at Canadian tire, other hardware stores and probably grocery stores will have them too. The jugs cost $12 initially but the refills are $1. Just need room to store the big jugs and an electrical pump that costs $15 on Amazon. I haven't got mine yet but after reading many reviews for different pumps, the "TECHVIDA Automatic Water Dispenser Refillable Drinking Water Bottle Cordless Electric Drinking Water Pump Fast Pumping Universal Gallon Bottle Water Pump Dispenser Switch" seems to be the best, least bad reviews and no plastic taste supposedly, also has the most reviews and a good rating. If you have really clean water then the filters may last longer and it may be worth it, but then why do you need a filter? I personally only care about filtering the fluoride out, but having clean water is a nice bonus. Even with clean water I think the $1 refillable jugs will be cheaper. :)

Poor quality defective product
Very flimsy plastic. Water was leaking from bottom of handle in first time use. Hope to hear from zerowater soon.

Overall Good with minor design flaws.
This jug is WAY better than the original basic blue one I bought 10 years ago. Jug is sturdy, top water reservoir is easy to fill, not leaking, and holds a decent amount. Came with filter, I don't remember if the description mentioned that. Only downsides are the two little flaps on top and that it needs a vent. One covers the pour spout and makes it difficult to pour into water bottles. I pulled the flap off, but the bottom reservoir needs a vent as the pour stream glugs and then slows down as it sucks in air up the pour spout making the stream unpredictable and difficult to manage when pouring into narrow openings like water bottles. The fill up flap is small and has a gap at the back so it is hard to see level as you are filling and overflow runs down the handle (and all over my counter). I instead just pull the entire top of the reservoir off to fill, but that is not as easy as there is no handle or grip. Overall, the few minor issues I've found work-arounds for but could ne remedied easily for future models. I am mostly happy with my new jug and look forward to using it for many years. My previous jug lasted 8 years and that was longer than I expected, so I estimate 10 to 14 years for this jug (as long as Hubby doesn't drop it like the last one! Lol)

Great Tasting
Prior to my purchase, I looked at a $400 installed unit that also filtered water to 0 ppm. This unit is definitely more cost-effective and does the same job. Consuming the equivalent of 10 cups of water a day, the first filter lasted me approximately 8 weeks. At the end of the 8 weeks, I did notice a slight difference in the taste of the water. This was not a strong or fishy taste and when I checked my water it was at 80 ppm. Normally my water tests at 265 ppm.
