Haven't used it yet.
I like the capability of switching to the 4inch for a more precise reading in a tight place/also,zeroing in on one item amongst several other readings.

Be Careful of Compatibility Claims
The descriptions here state that this coil is compatible with "All models of Bounty Hunter Detectors." If you bought the awesomeGold Digger Metal Detector here on Amazon, then picked up this little nugget coil, you'll be disappointed to learn that the new little coil has a plug attachment, whereas the Gold Digger has a permanently wired large coil. In other words, you can't attach the nugget coil to that model of Bounty Hunter as claimed! We are the authors of the Prospector's Bible and run the Become a Prospector dot com site and review many detectors for our members, as well as the Gold Prospectors and Miners Assn (GPMAA dot org). To give a positive balance to this compatibility problem, the Gold Digger Detector itself, for between $60 and $80 here on Amazon, and eligible for Prime free shipping, is comparable to $1,000 plus detectors if your objective is gold placer, nugget or lode detecting. Both products are outstanding, we just wanted to give you a head's up that they don't work together! You'll need a more advanced (plug in) model of the Bounty Hunter, such as theBounty Hunter TRACKERIV TK4-PL Tracker IV Metal Detector if you want to use the small nugget coil. However, to be very honest, and save you money, the large coil on the Gold Digger Detector is perfectly adequate for scanning both filtered rocks and below the surface for nuggets. The small head reviewed here is really for a narrow, shallow scan, and is most useful for scanning your filtered rocks before panning the finer dirt or sand. We put a coarse filter over a 5 gallon bucket, shovel the river bed dirt just above bedrock into the filter, toss the stones on the shore, and buzz over them with the detector to be sure we didn't miss a nugget before panning the dirt, or bringing the bucket back home or to base to put through the sluice. If you set your larger coil Gold Digger on object discrimination mode, it will work just as good as the nugget finder to scan your stones, yet with discrim off, read much deeper than the nugget coil to find deeper deposits. Works great with the tracker IV (5 stars), but not at all with the Gold Digger, so a warning three stars just to save Gold Digger buyers a return. If you want the very best anywhere for any and all gold prospecting applications, and one that WILL work with the little Nugget Coil for post-panning rock scanning, the one with the consistently highest performance in our tests, still under $200, and comparable to $1,500 models at Cabela's, is:Bounty Hunter Quick Draw II Metal Detector -- in fact, there is a "Cabela's Only" special make up privately branded of this exact model for three times the Amazon cost!

Perfect for trashy areas
I purchased this to use with my BH Tracker IV in trashy areas. Coil works great! The coil is quite small but works great picking out targets in areas littered with trash. I can’t say that it will help you find gold/gold nuggets unless it’s a sizable nugget - this has more to do with the detector itself. But, it’s a great coil for the money.

Met my expectations and then some!
I’m relatively new to detecting, and have the Bounty Hunter tracker 4. The stock coil is great, but sometimes a bit large for some of the areas I hunt. I use this coil to hunt playground and parks where clad coins are fairly shallow, since the lack of rain has the dirt hard as a rock. With the 4” coil I can easily scan under playground equipment and lower the sensitivity to decrease static from the equipment supports. Found 83 coins in one park. Love it!

Best coil for coinshooting
Bought this coil for my Bounty Hunter Pioneer 505. After disappointing multiple attempts and failure to get the stock 8" Spider coil to stabilize and getting nothing but false signals, I purchased this for coin shooting. Upon receiving it from Amazon I immediately put it on my 505 to try it out. Boy was I ever surprised. I started finding coins right away and got fewer false signals. I also like the fact that I don't need to change my setting to all metal no motion mode to pinpoint the find. It makes the process of locating, pinpointing and digging up my finds faster. Although I have a pin pointer I don't use it much when using this coil because it does such an accurate job of locating the find to a small area eliminating having to dig big plugs. Although it takes longer to scan the same area as a larger coil, I know that I am finding lots of items that other people have missed. This coil has became my coil of choice for coin shooting. I highly recommend it. It's a must buy for any Bounty Hunter detector.

knock off or real works good
I ordered this online from amazon for like 32.00 or so.does not say Bounty Hunter on it what so ever but when it showed up it was in a plastic bag rapped and taped ,there was no lables on it at all. so I had no idea what it really was a 4" gold nugget coil or ? no manual for it no paper work at all no way of saying who made it. it's blank no nothing I contacted amazon they did me wright and gave me a discount on the unit. but I was told that it had a one year warranty but I have no way of sending it back to the manufacture or prove who made it, if it dose not last one year cross my fingers not sure what to do it dose work good Thanks (((look out for knock offs)))

Is it a Bounty Hunter Gold Nugget Search Coil???
I received the coil on time as always when it comes to purchasing products from Amazon. However, this particular item leaves me with a serious question. According to the photo, there is the trade mark BOUNTY HUNTER logo. With the coil I received, there is no logo at all...nothing. Its solid black from top to bottom. So Im not sure if I received a knock off or if it is actually a Bounty Hunter brand. The coil seems to work fine (used it in the back yard for about 10 min). Ill get a better idea of its use later this week. But again, it seemed to work fine. I give this item a four only because Im not sure if its a Bounty Hunter brand or not. I like getting what I see in the photos when I purchase something. I definately dont like being surprised with something not as pictured.

A must have addition for Bounty Hunter metal detector, great for tight spaces
A must have addition for Bounty Hunter metal detector, great for tight spaces or budding prospectors. Light weight, small and easy to deploy. Great fun.

I haven't found any nugget but I almost got it set for flour
I haven't found any nugget but I almost got it set for flour. Basically I got this for Christmas from my brother for my metal detector. At the time I had the bounty hunterpioneer 505 but now I have added the discovery 3300 to my collection so I can fine tune the ground balance. I'm still figuring out the 3300 tho when I hold it close enough to metal that the ground balance is making the right sound I can get a noticeable tone difference putting a vile of .11 flour gold under it. I've used it twice once in my back yard n today at the park and it's really good for pinpointing objects n narrowing in on the search. With the 505 it didnt detect my .11 tho it has auto ground balance n I may have balanced out that small of mineralization. Tho it's still a bit of learning I know my detector is a little slow and I may have been walking a little fast. Over all pros - affordable -easy narrow targeting for smaller holes or finding shapes. -real small for prospecting creeks n getting close to all the cracks in bedrock which is what I bought it for. Cons - real small almost not practical for open field hunting -does n doesnt pick up really small gold... if looking for real small gold ur more likely to get a ping of the lead near the gold if ur machine isnt set just perfectly

Found gold first time out
I've only used this for a few hours so far. I expected to find an awful lot of trash before any treasure. After the first hour I got tired of only finding beer tops and with the squirrels giving me bad looks I moved to a kids playground. Much easier to practice in the sand. I found a nickel in the first few minutes. An hour or so later I found a small 22k gold bangle. So far I'm very happy. Just have to see how it goes.

Bounty Hunter 4-Inch Gold Nugget Coil Is Awesome
Well, let me start with I only had this work a very short time and as of this date I have no dislikes. What I liked about it was it made finding coins on a old farm property very easy because I could almost use it the same as a pin pointer. I have added a few photos to show the items found, there wasn't as many old coins as I had hoped but I did find a few interesting items. one was the ET token LOL love that thing, another was the 1902 five cent piece. check out the photos, I was on a old farm and there was a lot of trash in the ground. there is a photo of my total find with the coil and trash I did fall for. great coil, loving it. For those who want to know, I was using it on the Bounty Hunter Quick Draw Pro. Awesome!
